Thaeraa Naam Karee Chananaatheeaa Jae Man Ourasaa Hoe ||
तेरा नामु करी चनणाठीआ जे मनु उरसा होइ ॥
I would make Your Name the sandalwood, and my mind the stone to rub it on;
ਕਰਣੀ ਕੁੰਗੂ ਜੇ ਰਲੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
Karanee Kungoo Jae Ralai Ghatt Anthar Poojaa Hoe ||1||
करणी कुंगू जे रलै घट अंतरि पूजा होइ ॥१॥
For saffron, I would offer good deeds; thus, I perform worship and adoration within my heart. ||1||

पूजा कीचै नामु धिआईऐ बिनु नावै पूज न होइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Perform worship and adoration by meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; without the Name, there is no worship and adoration. ||1||Pause||
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਦੇਵ ਪਖਾਲੀਅਹਿ ਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਧੋਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Baahar Dhaev Pakhaaleeahi Jae Man Dhhovai Koe ||
बाहरि देव पखालीअहि जे मनु धोवै कोइ ॥
If one were to wash his heart inwardly, like the stone idol which is washed on the outside,
ਜੂਠਿ ਲਹੈ ਜੀਉ ਮਾਜੀਐ ਮੋਖ ਪਇਆਣਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
Jooth Lehai Jeeo Maajeeai Mokh Paeiaanaa Hoe ||2||
जूठि लहै जीउ माजीऐ मोख पइआणा होइ ॥२॥
His filth would be removed, his soul would be cleansed, and he would be liberated when he departs. ||2||
ਪਸੂ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ਖੜੁ ਖਾਵਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਦੇਹਿ ॥
Pasoo Milehi Changiaaeeaa Kharr Khaavehi Anmrith Dhaehi ||
पसू मिलहि चंगिआईआ खड़ु खावहि अम्रितु देहि ॥
Even beasts have value, as they eat grass and give milk.
ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇਹਿ ॥੩॥
Naam Vihoonae Aadhamee Dhhrig Jeevan Karam Karaehi ||3||
नाम विहूणे आदमी ध्रिगु जीवण करम करेहि ॥३॥
Without the Naam, the mortal's life is cursed, as are the actions he performs. ||3||
ਨੇੜਾ ਹੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਿਅਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੇ ॥
Naerraa Hai Dhoor N Jaaniahu Nith Saarae Sanmhaalae ||
नेड़ा है दूरि न जाणिअहु नित सारे सम्हाले ॥
The Lord is hear at hand - do not think that He is far away. He always cherishes us, and remembers us.
ਜੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਖਾਵਣਾ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥੧॥

जो देवै सो खावणा कहु नानक साचा हे ॥४॥१॥

Naabh Kamal Thae Brehamaa Oupajae Baedh Parrehi Mukh Kanth Savaar ||
नाभि कमल ते ब्रहमा उपजे बेद पड़हि मुखि कंठि सवारि ॥
From the lotus of Vishnu's navel, Brahma was born; He chanted the Vedas with a melodious voice.
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਲਖਣਾ ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਰਹੈ ਗੁਬਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
Thaa Ko Anth N Jaaee Lakhanaa Aavath Jaath Rehai Gubaar ||1||
ता को अंतु न जाई लखणा आवत जात रहै गुबारि ॥१॥
He could not find the Lord's limits, and he remained in the darkness of coming and going. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
Preetham Kio Bisarehi Maerae Praan Adhhaar ||
प्रीतम किउ बिसरहि मेरे प्राण अधार ॥
Why should I forget my Beloved? He is the support of my very breath of life.

ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਦੀਪਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਿ ਏਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥
Rav Sas Dheepak Jaa Kae Thribhavan Eaekaa Joth Muraar ||
रवि ससि दीपक जा के त्रिभवणि एका जोति मुरारि ॥
His lamps are the sun and the moon; the One Light of the Destroyer of ego fills the three worlds.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਰੈਣਿ ਅੰਧਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
Guramukh Hoe S Ahinis Niramal Manamukh Rain Andhhaar ||2||
गुरमुखि होइ सु अहिनिसि निरमलु मनमुखि रैणि अंधारि ॥२॥
One who becomes Gurmukh remains immaculately pure, day and night, while the self-willed manmukh is enveloped by the darkness of night. ||2||
ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਝਗਰਾ ਦੁਹੁ ਲੋਚਨ ਕਿਆ ਹੇਰੈ ॥
Sidhh Samaadhh Karehi Nith Jhagaraa Dhuhu Lochan Kiaa Haerai ||
सिध समाधि करहि नित झगरा दुहु लोचन किआ हेरै ॥
The Siddhas in Samaadhi are continually in conflict; what can they see with their two eyes?
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਧੁਨਿ ਜਾਗੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਝਗਰੁ ਨਿਬੇਰੈ ॥੩॥
Anthar Joth Sabadh Dhhun Jaagai Sathigur Jhagar Nibaerai ||3||
अंतरि जोति सबदु धुनि जागै सतिगुरु झगरु निबेरै ॥३॥
One who has the Divine Light within his heart, and is awakened to the melody of the Word of the Shabad - the True Guru settles his conflicts. ||3||
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਨਾਥ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਮਹਲਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
Sur Nar Naathh Baeanth Ajonee Saachai Mehal Apaaraa ||
सुरि नर नाथ बेअंत अजोनी साचै महलि अपारा ॥
O Lord of angels and men, infinite and unborn, Your True Mansion is incomparable.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੨॥

नानक सहजि मिले जगजीवन नदरि करहु निसतारा ॥४॥२॥
