ਠਠਾ ਮਨੂਆ ਠਾਹਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Thathaa Manooaa Thaahehi Naahee ||
ठठा मनूआ ठाहहि नाही ॥
T'HAT'HA: Those who have abandoned all else and
ਜੋ ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਏਕਹਿ ਲਪਟਾਹੀ ॥
Jo Sagal Thiaag Eaekehi Lapattaahee ||
जो सगल तिआगि एकहि लपटाही ॥
Who cling to the One Lord alone do not make trouble for anyone's mind.
ਠਹਕਿ ਠਹਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੂਏ ॥
Thehak Thehak Maaeiaa Sang Mooeae ||
ठहकि ठहकि माइआ संगि मूए ॥
Those who are totally absorbed and preoccupied with Maya are dead;
ਉਆ ਕੈ ਕੁਸਲ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਹੂਏ ॥
Ouaa Kai Kusal N Kathehoo Hooeae ||
उआ कै कुसल न कतहू हूए ॥
They do not find happiness anywhere.
ਠਾਂਢਿ ਪਰੀ ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸਿਆ ॥
Thaandt Paree Santheh Sang Basiaa ||
ठांढि परी संतह संगि बसिआ ॥
One who dwells in the Society of the Saints finds a great peace;
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਹਾ ਜੀਅ ਰਸਿਆ ॥
Anmrith Naam Thehaa Jeea Rasiaa ||
अम्रित नामु तहा जीअ रसिआ ॥
The Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam becomes sweet to his soul.
ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
Thaakur Apunae Jo Jan Bhaaeiaa ||
ठाकुर अपुने जो जनु भाइआ ॥
That humble being, who is pleasing to his Lord and Master
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਆ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲਾਇਆ ॥੨੮॥
Naanak Ouaa Kaa Man Seethalaaeiaa ||28||
नानक उआ का मनु सीतलाइआ ॥२८॥
- O Nanak, his mind is cooled and soothed. ||28||

ਡੰਡਉਤਿ ਬੰਦਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਸਮਰਥ ॥
Ddanddouth Bandhan Anik Baar Sarab Kalaa Samarathh ||
डंडउति बंदन अनिक बार सरब कला समरथ ॥
I bow down, and fall to the ground in humble adoration, countless times, to the All-powerful Lord, who possesses all powers.
ਡੋਲਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਹਥ ॥੧॥
Ddolan Thae Raakhahu Prabhoo Naanak Dhae Kar Hathh ||1||
डोलन ते राखहु प्रभू नानक दे करि हथ ॥१॥
Please protect me, and save me from wandering, God. Reach out and give Nanak Your Hand. ||1||

ਡਡਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਇਹੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਹ ਡੇਰਾ ਤਹ ਜਾਨੁ ॥
Ddaddaa Ddaeraa Eihu Nehee Jeh Ddaeraa Theh Jaan ||
डडा डेरा इहु नही जह डेरा तह जानु ॥
DADDA: This is not your true place; you must know where that place really is.
ਉਆ ਡੇਰਾ ਕਾ ਸੰਜਮੋ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਨੁ ॥
Ouaa Ddaeraa Kaa Sanjamo Gur Kai Sabadh Pashhaan ||
उआ डेरा का संजमो गुर कै सबदि पछानु ॥
You shall come to realize the way to that place, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਇਆ ਡੇਰਾ ਕਉ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਘਾਲੈ ॥
Eiaa Ddaeraa Ko Sram Kar Ghaalai ||
इआ डेरा कउ स्रमु करि घालै ॥
This place, here, is established by hard work,
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਤਸੂ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਾਲੈ ॥
Jaa Kaa Thasoo Nehee Sang Chaalai ||
जा का तसू नही संगि चालै ॥
But not one iota of this shall go there with you.
ਉਆ ਡੇਰਾ ਕੀ ਸੋ ਮਿਤਿ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
Ouaa Ddaeraa Kee So Mith Jaanai ||
उआ डेरा की सो मिति जानै ॥
The value of that place beyond is known only to those,
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਵਾਨੈ ॥
Jaa Ko Dhrisatt Pooran Bhagavaanai ||
जा कउ द्रिसटि पूरन भगवानै ॥
Upon whom the Perfect Lord God casts His Glance of Grace.
ਡੇਰਾ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Ddaeraa Nihachal Sach Saadhhasang Paaeiaa ||
डेरा निहचलु सचु साधसंग पाइआ ॥
That permanent and true place is obtained in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy;
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਨਹ ਡੋਲਾਇਆ ॥੨੯॥
Naanak Thae Jan Neh Ddolaaeiaa ||29||
नानक ते जन नह डोलाइआ ॥२९॥
O Nanak, those humble beings do not waver or wander. ||29||

ਢਾਹਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕਿਨਹਿ ਨ ਘਾਲਿਓ ਬੰਧ ॥
Aahan Laagae Dhharam Raae Kinehi N Ghaaliou Bandhh ||
ढाहन लागे धरम राइ किनहि न घालिओ बंध ॥
When the Righteous Judge of Dharma begins to destroy someone, no one can place any obstacle in His Way.
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਹਰੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸਨਬੰਧ ॥੧॥
Naanak Oubarae Jap Haree Saadhhasang Sanabandhh ||1||
नानक उबरे जपि हरी साधसंगि सनबंध ॥१॥
O Nanak, those who join the Saadh Sangat and meditate on the Lord are saved. ||1||

ਢਢਾ ਢੂਢਤ ਕਹ ਫਿਰਹੁ ਢੂਢਨੁ ਇਆ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Dtadtaa Dtoodtath Keh Firahu Dtoodtan Eiaa Man Maahi ||
ढढा ढूढत कह फिरहु ढूढनु इआ मन माहि ॥
DHADHA: Where are you going, wandering and searching? Search instead within your own mind.
ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਸੈ ਬਨੁ ਬਨੁ ਕਹਾ ਫਿਰਾਹਿ ॥
Sang Thuhaarai Prabh Basai Ban Ban Kehaa Firaahi ||
संगि तुहारै प्रभु बसै बनु बनु कहा फिराहि ॥
God is with you, so why do you wander around from forest to forest?
ਢੇਰੀ ਢਾਹਹੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥
Dtaeree Dtaahahu Saadhhasang Ahanbudhh Bikaraal ||
ढेरी ढाहहु साधसंगि अह्मबुधि बिकराल ॥
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, tear down the mound of your frightful, egotistical pride.
ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਬਸਹੁ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
Sukh Paavahu Sehajae Basahu Dharasan Dhaekh Nihaal ||
सुखु पावहु सहजे बसहु दरसनु देखि निहाल ॥
You shall find peace, and abide in intuitive bliss; gazing upon the Blessed Vision of God's Darshan, you shall be delighted.
ਢੇਰੀ ਜਾਮੈ ਜਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨਿ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਇ ॥
Dtaeree Jaamai Jam Marai Garabh Jon Dhukh Paae ||
ढेरी जामै जमि मरै गरभ जोनि दुख पाइ ॥
One who has such a mound as this, dies and suffers the pain of reincarnation through the womb.
ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਲਪਟਤ ਰਹੈ ਹਉ ਹਉ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
Moh Magan Lapattath Rehai Ho Ho Aavai Jaae ||
मोह मगन लपटत रहै हउ हउ आवै जाइ ॥
One who is intoxicated by emotional attachment, entangled in egotism, selfishness and conceit, shall continue coming and going in reincarnation.
ਢਹਤ ਢਹਤ ਅਬ ਢਹਿ ਪਰੇ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਸਰਨਾਇ ॥
Dtehath Dtehath Ab Dtehi Parae Saadhh Janaa Saranaae ||
ढहत ढहत अब ढहि परे साध जना सरनाइ ॥
Slowly and steadily, I have now surrendered to the Holy Saints; I have come to their Sanctuary.
ਦੁਖ ਕੇ ਫਾਹੇ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੀਏ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩੦॥
Dhukh Kae Faahae Kaattiaa Naanak Leeeae Samaae ||30||
दुख के फाहे काटिआ नानक लीए समाइ ॥३०॥
God has cut away the noose of my pain; O Nanak, He has merged me into Himself. ||30||

ਜਹ ਸਾਧੂ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਭਜਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੀਤ ॥
Jeh Saadhhoo Gobidh Bhajan Keerathan Naanak Neeth ||
जह साधू गोबिद भजनु कीरतनु नानक नीत ॥
Where the Holy people constantly vibrate the Kirtan of the Praises of the Lord of the Universe, O Nanak
ਣਾ ਹਉ ਣਾ ਤੂੰ ਣਹ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਈਅਹੁ ਦੂਤ ॥੧॥
Naa Ho Naa Thoon Neh Shhuttehi Nikatt N Jaaeeahu Dhooth ||1||
णा हउ णा तूं णह छुटहि निकटि न जाईअहु दूत ॥१॥
- the Righteous Judge says, ""Do not approach that place, O Messenger of Death, or else neither you nor I shall escape!""||1||

ਣਾਣਾ ਰਣ ਤੇ ਸੀਝੀਐ ਆਤਮ ਜੀਤੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Naanaa Ran Thae Seejheeai Aatham Jeethai Koe ||
णाणा रण ते सीझीऐ आतम जीतै कोइ ॥
NANNA: One who conquers his own soul, wins the battle of life.
ਹਉਮੈ ਅਨ ਸਿਉ ਲਰਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੋ ਸੋਭਾ ਦੂ ਹੋਇ ॥
Houmai An Sio Lar Marai So Sobhaa Dhoo Hoe ||
हउमै अन सिउ लरि मरै सो सोभा दू होइ ॥
One who dies, while fighting against egotism and alienation, becomes sublime and beautiful.
ਮਣੀ ਮਿਟਾਇ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥
Manee Mittaae Jeevath Marai Gur Poorae Oupadhaes ||
मणी मिटाइ जीवत मरै गुर पूरे उपदेस ॥
One who eradicates his ego, remains dead while yet alive, through the Teachings of the Perfect Guru.
ਮਨੂਆ ਜੀਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਹ ਸੂਰਤਣ ਵੇਸ ॥
Manooaa Jeethai Har Milai Thih Soorathan Vaes ||
मनूआ जीतै हरि मिलै तिह सूरतण वेस ॥
He conquers his mind, and meets the Lord; he is dressed in robes of honor.
ਣਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਪਣੋ ਏਕਹਿ ਟੇਕ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
Naa Ko Jaanai Aapano Eaekehi Ttaek Adhhaar ||
णा को जाणै आपणो एकहि टेक अधार ॥
He does not claim anything as his own; the One Lord is his Anchor and Support.
ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਣਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਰਹੈ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
Rain Dhinas Simarath Rehai So Prabh Purakh Apaar ||
रैणि दिणसु सिमरत रहै सो प्रभु पुरखु अपार ॥
Night and day, he continually contemplates the Almighty, Infinite Lord God.
ਰੇਣ ਸਗਲ ਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਕਰੈ ਏਊ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
Raen Sagal Eiaa Man Karai Eaeoo Karam Kamaae ||
रेण सगल इआ मनु करै एऊ करम कमाइ ॥
He makes his mind the dust of all; such is the karma of the deeds he does.
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਇ ॥੩੧॥
Hukamai Boojhai Sadhaa Sukh Naanak Likhiaa Paae ||31||
हुकमै बूझै सदा सुखु नानक लिखिआ पाइ ॥३१॥
Understanding the Hukam of the Lord's Command, he attains everlasting peace. O Nanak, such is his pre-ordained destiny. ||31||

ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਅਰਪਉ ਤਿਸੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਮੋਹਿ ॥
Than Man Dhhan Arapo Thisai Prabhoo Milaavai Mohi ||
तनु मनु धनु अरपउ तिसै प्रभू मिलावै मोहि ॥
I offer my body, mind and wealth to anyone who can unite me with God.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਉ ਕਾਟੀਐ ਚੂਕੈ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਜੋਹ ॥੧॥
Naanak Bhram Bho Kaatteeai Chookai Jam Kee Joh ||1||
नानक भ्रम भउ काटीऐ चूकै जम की जोह ॥१॥
O Nanak, my doubts and fears have been dispelled, and the Messenger of Death does not see me any longer. ||1||

तता ता सिउ प्रीति करि गुण निधि गोबिद राइ ॥
TATTA: Embrace love for the Treasure of Excellence, the Sovereign Lord of the Universe.
ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਨ ਬਾਛਤੇ ਤਪਤਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
Fal Paavehi Man Baashhathae Thapath Thuhaaree Jaae ||
फल पावहि मन बाछते तपति तुहारी जाइ ॥
You shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires, and your burning thirst shall be quenched.
