Sach Sachaa Ras Jinee Chakhiaa Sae Thripath Rehae Aaghaaee ||
सचु सचा रसु जिनी चखिआ से त्रिपति रहे आघाई ॥
Those who have tasted the true essence of the True Lord, remain satisfied and fulfilled.
ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਸੇਈ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਜਿਉ ਗੂੰਗੈ ਮਿਠਿਆਈ ਖਾਈ ॥
Eihu Har Ras Saeee Jaanadhae Jio Goongai Mithiaaee Khaaee ||
इहु हरि रसु सेई जाणदे जिउ गूंगै मिठिआई खाई ॥
They know this essence of the Lord, but they say nothing, like the mute who tastes the sweet candy, and says nothing.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਵਜੀ ਵਾਧਾਈ ॥੧੮॥
Gur Poorai Har Prabh Saeviaa Man Vajee Vaadhhaaee ||18||
गुरि पूरै हरि प्रभु सेविआ मनि वजी वाधाई ॥१८॥
The Perfect Guru serves the Lord God; His vibration vibrates and resounds in the mind. ||18||

ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਉਮਰਥਲ ਸੇਈ ਜਾਣਨਿ ਸੂਲੀਆ ॥
Jinaa Andhar Oumarathhal Saeee Jaanan Sooleeaa ||
जिना अंदरि उमरथल सेई जाणनि सूलीआ ॥
Those who have a festering boil within - they alone know its pain.
ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦ ਘੁਮਿ ਘੋਲੀਆ ॥
Har Jaanehi Saeee Birahu Ho Thin Vittahu Sadh Ghum Gholeeaa ||
हरि जाणहि सेई बिरहु हउ तिन विटहु सद घुमि घोलीआ ॥
Those who know the pain of separation from the Lord - I am forever a sacrifice, a sacrifice to them.
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿਰੁ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਤਲ ਰੋਲੀਆ ॥
Har Maelahu Sajan Purakh Maeraa Sir Thin Vittahu Thal Roleeaa ||
हरि मेलहु सजणु पुरखु मेरा सिरु तिन विटहु तल रोलीआ ॥
O Lord, please lead me to meet the Guru, the Primal Being, my Friend; my head shall roll in the dust under His feet.
ਜੋ ਸਿਖ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਹਉ ਗੁਲਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਕਾ ਗੋਲੀਆ ॥
Jo Sikh Gur Kaar Kamaavehi Ho Gulam Thinaa Kaa Goleeaa ||
जो सिख गुर कार कमावहि हउ गुलमु तिना का गोलीआ ॥
I am the slave of the slaves of those GurSikhs who serve Him.
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਭਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਚੋਲੀਆ ॥
Har Rang Chaloolai Jo Rathae Thin Bhinee Har Rang Choleeaa ||
हरि रंगि चलूलै जो रते तिन भिनी हरि रंगि चोलीआ ॥
Those who are imbued with the deep crimson color of the Lord's Love - their robes are drenched in the Love of the Lord.

करि किरपा नानक मेलि गुर पहि सिरु वेचिआ मोलीआ ॥१॥

ਅਉਗਣੀ ਭਰਿਆ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਉ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Aouganee Bhariaa Sareer Hai Kio Santhahu Niramal Hoe ||
अउगणी भरिआ सरीरु है किउ संतहु निरमलु होइ ॥
The body is full of mistakes and misdeeds; how can it become pure, O Saints?
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਣ ਵੇਹਾਝੀਅਹਿ ਮਲੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਢੈ ਧੋਇ ॥
Guramukh Gun Vaehaajheeahi Mal Houmai Kadtai Dhhoe ||
गुरमुखि गुण वेहाझीअहि मलु हउमै कढै धोइ ॥
The Gurmukh purchases virtues, which wash off the sin of egotism.
ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜਹਿ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਸਚੁ ਸਉਦਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sach Vananjehi Rang Sio Sach Soudhaa Hoe ||
सचु वणंजहि रंग सिउ सचु सउदा होइ ॥
True is the trade which purchases the True Lord with love.
ਤੋਟਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
Thottaa Mool N Aavee Laahaa Har Bhaavai Soe ||
तोटा मूलि न आवई लाहा हरि भावै सोइ ॥
No loss will come from this, and the profit comes by the Lord's Will.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜਿਆ ਜਿਨਾ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
Naanak Thin Sach Vananjiaa Jinaa Dhhur Likhiaa Paraapath Hoe ||2||
नानक तिन सचु वणंजिआ जिना धुरि लिखिआ परापति होइ ॥२॥
O Nanak, they alone purchase the Truth, who are blessed with such pre-ordained destiny. ||2||

ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਾਲੇ ॥
Saalaahee Sach Saalaahanaa Sach Sachaa Purakh Niraalae ||
सालाही सचु सालाहणा सचु सचा पुरखु निराले ॥
I praise the True One, who alone is worthy of praise. The True Primal Being is True - this is His unique quality.
ਸਚੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ॥
Sach Saevee Sach Man Vasai Sach Sachaa Har Rakhavaalae ||
सचु सेवी सचु मनि वसै सचु सचा हरि रखवाले ॥
Serving the True Lord, the Truth comes to dwell in the mind. The Lord, the Truest of the True, is my Protector.
ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਜਿਨੀ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਾਇ ਰਲੇ ਸਚ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
Sach Sachaa Jinee Araadhhiaa Sae Jaae Ralae Sach Naalae ||
सचु सचा जिनी अराधिआ से जाइ रले सच नाले ॥
Those who worship and adore the Truest of the True, shall go and merge with the True Lord.
ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਜਿਨੀ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ ਬੇਤਾਲੇ ॥
Sach Sachaa Jinee N Saeviaa Sae Manamukh Moorr Baethaalae ||
सचु सचा जिनी न सेविआ से मनमुख मूड़ बेताले ॥
Those who do not serve the Truest of the True - those self-willed manmukhs are foolish demons.
ਓਹ ਆਲੁ ਪਤਾਲੁ ਮੁਹਹੁ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਜਿਉ ਪੀਤੈ ਮਦਿ ਮਤਵਾਲੇ ॥੧੯॥
Ouh Aal Pathaal Muhahu Boladhae Jio Peethai Madh Mathavaalae ||19||
ओह आलु पतालु मुहहु बोलदे जिउ पीतै मदि मतवाले ॥१९॥
With their mouths, they babble on about this and that, like the drunkard who has drunk his wine. ||19||

Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਗਉੜੀ ਰਾਗਿ ਸੁਲਖਣੀ ਜੇ ਖਸਮੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
Gourree Raag Sulakhanee Jae Khasamai Chith Karaee ||
गउड़ी रागि सुलखणी जे खसमै चिति करेइ ॥
Gauree Raga is auspicious, if, through it, one comes to think of his Lord and Master.
ਭਾਣੈ ਚਲੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਐਸਾ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
Bhaanai Chalai Sathiguroo Kai Aisaa Seegaar Karaee ||
भाणै चलै सतिगुरू कै ऐसा सीगारु करेइ ॥
He should walk in harmony with the Will of the True Guru; this should be his decoration.
ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਭਤਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਵੇਇ ॥
Sachaa Sabadh Bhathaar Hai Sadhaa Sadhaa Raavaee ||
सचा सबदु भतारु है सदा सदा रावेइ ॥
The True Word of the Shabad is our spouse; ravish and enjoy it, forever and ever.
ਜਿਉ ਉਬਲੀ ਮਜੀਠੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਗਹਗਹਾ ਤਿਉ ਸਚੇ ਨੋ ਜੀਉ ਦੇਇ ॥
Jio Oubalee Majeethai Rang Gehagehaa Thio Sachae No Jeeo Dhaee ||
जिउ उबली मजीठै रंगु गहगहा तिउ सचे नो जीउ देइ ॥
Like the deep crimson color of the madder plant - such is the dye which shall color you, when you dedicate your soul to the True One.
ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਅਤਿ ਰਤੀ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਲਗਾ ਨੇਹੁ ॥
Rang Chaloolai Ath Rathee Sachae Sio Lagaa Naehu ||
रंगि चलूलै अति रती सचे सिउ लगा नेहु ॥
One who loves the True Lord is totally imbued with the Lord's Love, like the deep crimson color of the poppy.
ਕੂੜੁ ਠਗੀ ਗੁਝੀ ਨਾ ਰਹੈ ਕੂੜੁ ਮੁਲੰਮਾ ਪਲੇਟਿ ਧਰੇਹੁ ॥
Koorr Thagee Gujhee Naa Rehai Koorr Mulanmaa Palaett Dhharaehu ||
कूड़ु ठगी गुझी ना रहै कूड़ु मुलमा पलेटि धरेहु ॥
Falsehood and deception may be covered with false coatings, but they cannot remain hidden.
ਕੂੜੀ ਕਰਨਿ ਵਡਾਈਆ ਕੂੜੇ ਸਿਉ ਲਗਾ ਨੇਹੁ ॥
Koorree Karan Vaddaaeeaa Koorrae Sio Lagaa Naehu ||
कूड़ी करनि वडाईआ कूड़े सिउ लगा नेहु ॥
False is the uttering of praises, by those who love falsehood.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੧॥
Naanak Sachaa Aap Hai Aapae Nadhar Karaee ||1||
नानक सचा आपि है आपे नदरि करेइ ॥१॥
O Nanak, He alone is True; He Himself casts His Glance of Grace. ||1||

ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ॥
Sathasangath Mehi Har Ousathath Hai Sang Saadhhoo Milae Piaariaa ||
सतसंगति महि हरि उसतति है संगि साधू मिले पिआरिआ ॥
In the Sat Sangat the True Congregation the Lord's Praises are sung. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the Beloved Lord is met.
ਓਇ ਪੁਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਧੰਨਿ ਜਨ ਹਹਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰਿਆ ॥
Oue Purakh Praanee Dhhann Jan Hehi Oupadhaes Karehi Paroupakaariaa ||
ओइ पुरख प्राणी धंनि जन हहि उपदेसु करहि परउपकारिआ ॥
Blessed is that mortal being, who shares the Teachings for the good of others.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਜਗੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿਆ ॥
Har Naam Dhrirraavehi Har Naam Sunaavehi Har Naamae Jag Nisathaariaa ||
हरि नामु द्रिड़ावहि हरि नामु सुणावहि हरि नामे जगु निसतारिआ ॥
He implants the Name of the Lord, and he preaches the Name of the Lord; through the Name of the Lord, the world is saved.
ਗੁਰ ਵੇਖਣ ਕਉ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਲੋਚੈ ਨਵ ਖੰਡ ਜਗਤਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿਆ ॥
Gur Vaekhan Ko Sabh Koee Lochai Nav Khandd Jagath Namasakaariaa ||
गुर वेखण कउ सभु कोई लोचै नव खंड जगति नमसकारिआ ॥
Everyone longs to see the Guru; the world, and the nine continents, bow down to Him.
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥
Thudhh Aapae Aap Rakhiaa Sathigur Vich Gur Aapae Thudhh Savaariaa ||
तुधु आपे आपु रखिआ सतिगुर विचि गुरु आपे तुधु सवारिआ ॥
You Yourself have established the True Guru; You Yourself have adorned the Guru.
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਾਵਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਿਆ ॥
Thoo Aapae Poojehi Pooj Karaavehi Sathigur Ko Sirajanehaariaa ||
तू आपे पूजहि पूज करावहि सतिगुर कउ सिरजणहारिआ ॥
You Yourself worship and adore the True Guru; You inspire others to worship Him as well, O Creator Lord.
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਜਾਇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਲਾ ਮੁਹੁ ਜਮਿ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥
Koee Vishhurr Jaae Sathiguroo Paasahu This Kaalaa Muhu Jam Maariaa ||
कोई विछुड़ि जाइ सतिगुरू पासहु तिसु काला मुहु जमि मारिआ ॥
If someone separates himself from the True Guru, his face is blackened, and he is destroyed by the Messenger of Death.
