Dhuramath Mittee Houmai Shhuttee Simarath Har Ko Naam ||
दुरमति मिटी हउमै छुटी सिमरत हरि को नाम ॥
All his sins are erased, and his works are brought to perfect fruition; his evil-mindedness disappears, and his ego is subdued.
ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਆਵਾ ਗਵਨ ॥

सरनि गही पारब्रहम की मिटिआ आवा गवन ॥
Taking to the Sanctuary of the Supreme Lord God, his comings and goings in reincarnation are ended.

आपि तरिआ कुट्मब सिउ गुण गुबिंद प्रभ रवन ॥

हरि की टहल कमावणी जपीऐ प्रभ का नामु ॥

The perfect person never wavers; God Himself made him perfect.

जीअ जंत दइआल पुरखु सभ ऊपरि जा का हथु ॥
The Lord is kind and compassionate to all beings and creatures; His Protecting Hand is over all.

गुण निधान गोबिंद गुर कीआ जा का होइ ॥
He is the Treasure of Excellence, the Lord of the Universe; through the Guru, He acts.

संत सहाई सरनि जोगु आठ पहर नमसकार ॥
He is the Support of His Saints, with the Power to give Sanctuary. Twenty-four hours a day, I bow in reverence to Him.
ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਨਹ ਬੂਝੀਐ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ॥

अकथ कथा नह बूझीऐ सिमरहु हरि के चरन ॥
His Unspoken Speech cannot be understood; I meditate on the Feet of the Lord.

पतित उधारन अनाथ नाथ नानक प्रभ की सरन ॥१६॥
He is the Saving Grace of sinners, the Master of the masterless; Nanak has entered God's Sanctuary. ||16||

दुख बिनसे सहसा गइओ सरनि गही हरि राइ ॥
My pain is gone, and my sorrows have departed, since I took to the Sanctuary of the Lord, my King.
ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥੧੭॥

मनि चिंदे फल पाइआ नानक हरि गुन गाइ ॥१७॥

कोई गावै को सुणै कोई करै बीचारु ॥
Some sing, some listen, and some contemplate;
ਕੋ ਉਪਦੇਸੈ ਕੋ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
Ko Oupadhaesai Ko Dhrirrai This Kaa Hoe Oudhhaar ||
को उपदेसै को द्रिड़ै तिस का होइ उधारु ॥
Some preach, and some implant the Name within; this is how they are saved.
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
Kilabikh Kaattai Hoe Niramalaa Janam Janam Mal Jaae ||
किलबिख काटै होइ निरमला जनम जनम मलु जाइ ॥
Their sinful mistakes are erased, and they become pure; the filth of countless incarnations is washed away.
ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਮੁਖੁ ਊਜਲਾ ਨਹ ਪੋਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਇ ॥
Halath Palath Mukh Oojalaa Neh Pohai This Maae ||
हलति पलति मुखु ऊजला नह पोहै तिसु माइ ॥
In this world and the next, their faces shall be radiant; they shall not be touched by Maya.
ਸੋ ਸੁਰਤਾ ਸੋ ਬੈਸਨੋ ਸੋ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਨਵੰਤੁ ॥
So Surathaa So Baisano So Giaanee Dhhanavanth ||
सो सुरता सो बैसनो सो गिआनी धनवंतु ॥
They are intuitively wise, and they are Vaishnaavs, worshippers of Vishnu; they are spiritually wise, wealthy and prosperous.
ਸੋ ਸੂਰਾ ਕੁਲਵੰਤੁ ਸੋਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਜਿਆ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
So Sooraa Kulavanth Soe Jin Bhajiaa Bhagavanth ||
सो सूरा कुलवंतु सोइ जिनि भजिआ भगवंतु ॥
They are spiritual heros, of noble birth, who vibrate upon the Lord God.
ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਸੂਦੁ ਬੈਸੁ ਉਧਰੈ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਚੰਡਾਲ ॥
Khathree Braahaman Soodh Bais Oudhharai Simar Chanddaal ||
खत्री ब्राहमणु सूदु बैसु उधरै सिमरि चंडाल ॥
The Kh'shatriyas, the Brahmins, the low-caste Soodras, the Vaisha workers and the outcast pariahs are all saved,
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਰਵਾਲ ॥੧੭॥
Jin Jaaniou Prabh Aapanaa Naanak Thisehi Ravaal ||17||
जिनि जानिओ प्रभु आपना नानक तिसहि रवाल ॥१७॥
Meditating on the Lord. Nanak is the dust of the feet of those who know his God. ||17||

Sathigur Purakh Dhaeiaal Hai Jis No Samath Sabh Koe ||
सतिगुरु पुरखु दइआलु है जिस नो समतु सभु कोइ ॥
The True Guru, the Primal Being, is kind and compassionate; all are alike to Him.
ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਮਨ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਤੇ ਸਿਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
Eaek Dhrisatt Kar Dhaekhadhaa Man Bhaavanee Thae Sidhh Hoe ||
एक द्रिसटि करि देखदा मन भावनी ते सिधि होइ ॥
He looks upon all impartially; with pure faith in the mind, He is obtained.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਉਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਦੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
Sathigur Vich Anmrith Hai Har Outham Har Padh Soe ||
सतिगुर विचि अम्रितु है हरि उतमु हरि पदु सोइ ॥
The Ambrosial Nectar is within the True Guru; He is exalted and sublime, of Godly status.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
Naanak Kirapaa Thae Har Dhhiaaeeai Guramukh Paavai Koe ||1||
नानक किरपा ते हरि धिआईऐ गुरमुखि पावै कोइ ॥१॥
O Nanak, by His Grace, one meditates on the Lord; the Gurmukhs obtain Him. ||1||

हउमै माइआ सभ बिखु है नित जगि तोटा संसारि ॥
Egotism and Maya are total poison; in these, people continually suffer loss in this world.
ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟਿਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
Laahaa Har Dhhan Khattiaa Guramukh Sabadh Veechaar ||
लाहा हरि धनु खटिआ गुरमुखि सबदु वीचारि ॥
The Gurmukh earns the profit of the wealth of the Lord's Name, contemplating the Word of the Shabad.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
Houmai Mail Bikh Outharai Har Anmrith Har Our Dhhaar ||
हउमै मैलु बिखु उतरै हरि अम्रितु हरि उर धारि ॥
The poisonous filth of egotism is removed, when one enshrines the Ambrosial Name of the Lord within the heart.
