ਪੁਰਬ ਲਿਖੇ ਕਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
Purab Likhae Kaa Likhiaa Paaeeai ||
पुरब लिखे का लिखिआ पाईऐ ॥
You shall obtain your pre-ordained destiny.
ਦੂਖ ਸੂਖ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰੁ ॥
Dhookh Sookh Prabh Dhaevanehaar ||
दूख सूख प्रभ देवनहारु ॥
God is the Giver of pain and pleasure.
ਅਵਰ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਤੂ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਚਿਤਾਰੁ ॥
Avar Thiaag Thoo Thisehi Chithaar ||
अवर तिआगि तू तिसहि चितारु ॥
Abandon others, and think of Him alone.
ਜੋ ਕਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
Jo Kashh Karai Soee Sukh Maan ||
जो कछु करै सोई सुखु मानु ॥
Whatever He does - take comfort in that.
ਭੂਲਾ ਕਾਹੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਜਾਨ ॥
Bhoolaa Kaahae Firehi Ajaan ||
भूला काहे फिरहि अजान ॥
Why do you wander around, you ignorant fool?
ਕਉਨ ਬਸਤੁ ਆਈ ਤੇਰੈ ਸੰਗ ॥
Koun Basath Aaee Thaerai Sang ||
कउन बसतु आई तेरै संग ॥
What things did you bring with you?
ਲਪਟਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਰਸਿ ਲੋਭੀ ਪਤੰਗ ॥
Lapatt Rehiou Ras Lobhee Pathang ||
लपटि रहिओ रसि लोभी पतंग ॥
You cling to worldly pleasures like a greedy moth.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Raam Naam Jap Hiradhae Maahi ||
राम नाम जपि हिरदे माहि ॥
Dwell upon the Lord's Name in your heart.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਤਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੪॥
Naanak Path Saethee Ghar Jaahi ||4||
नानक पति सेती घरि जाहि ॥४॥
O Nanak, thus you shall return to your home with honor. ||4||
ਜਿਸੁ ਵਖਰ ਕਉ ਲੈਨਿ ਤੂ ਆਇਆ ॥
Jis Vakhar Ko Lain Thoo Aaeiaa ||
जिसु वखर कउ लैनि तू आइआ ॥
This merchandise, which you have come to obtain
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Raam Naam Santhan Ghar Paaeiaa ||
राम नामु संतन घरि पाइआ ॥
N - the Lord's Name is obtained in the home of the Saints.
ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੋਲਿ ॥
Thaj Abhimaan Laehu Man Mol ||
तजि अभिमानु लेहु मन मोलि ॥
Renounce your egotistical pride, and with your mind,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਤੋਲਿ ॥
Raam Naam Hiradhae Mehi Thol ||
राम नामु हिरदे महि तोलि ॥
Purchase the Lord's Name - measure it out within your heart.
ਲਾਦਿ ਖੇਪ ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਾਲੁ ॥
Laadh Khaep Santheh Sang Chaal ||
लादि खेप संतह संगि चालु ॥
Load up this merchandise, and set out with the Saints.
ਅਵਰ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥
Avar Thiaag Bikhiaa Janjaal ||
अवर तिआगि बिखिआ जंजाल ॥
Give up other corrupt entanglements.
ਧੰਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਕਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
Dhhann Dhhann Kehai Sabh Koe ||
धंनि धंनि कहै सभु कोइ ॥
"Blessed, blessed", everyone will call you,
ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੋਇ ॥
Mukh Oojal Har Dharageh Soe ||
मुख ऊजल हरि दरगह सोइ ॥
And your face shall be radiant in the Court of the Lord.
ਇਹੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੈ ॥
Eihu Vaapaar Viralaa Vaapaarai ||
इहु वापारु विरला वापारै ॥
In this trade, only a few are trading.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ॥੫॥
Naanak Thaa Kai Sadh Balihaarai ||5||
नानक ता कै सद बलिहारै ॥५॥
Nanak is forever a sacrifice to them. ||5||
ਚਰਨ ਸਾਧ ਕੇ ਧੋਇ ਧੋਇ ਪੀਉ ॥
Charan Saadhh Kae Dhhoe Dhhoe Peeo ||
चरन साध के धोइ धोइ पीउ ॥
Wash the feet of the Holy, and drink in this water.
ਅਰਪਿ ਸਾਧ ਕਉ ਅਪਨਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
Arap Saadhh Ko Apanaa Jeeo ||
अरपि साध कउ अपना जीउ ॥
Dedicate your soul to the Holy.
ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
Saadhh Kee Dhhoor Karahu Eisanaan ||
साध की धूरि करहु इसनानु ॥
Take your cleansing bath in the dust of the feet of the Holy.
ਸਾਧ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ॥
Saadhh Oopar Jaaeeai Kurabaan ||
साध ऊपरि जाईऐ कुरबानु ॥
To the Holy, make your life a sacrifice.
ਸਾਧ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
Saadhh Saevaa Vaddabhaagee Paaeeai ||
साध सेवा वडभागी पाईऐ ॥
Service to the Holy is obtained by great good fortune.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
Saadhhasang Har Keerathan Gaaeeai ||
साधसंगि हरि कीरतनु गाईऐ ॥
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise is sung.
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਿਘਨ ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
Anik Bighan Thae Saadhhoo Raakhai ||
अनिक बिघन ते साधू राखै ॥
From all sorts of dangers, the Saint saves us.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖੈ ॥
Har Gun Gaae Anmrith Ras Chaakhai ||
हरि गुन गाइ अम्रित रसु चाखै ॥
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, we taste the ambrosial essence.
ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਸੰਤਹ ਦਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
Outt Gehee Santheh Dhar Aaeiaa ||
ओट गही संतह दरि आइआ ॥
Seeking the Protection of the Saints, we have come to their door.
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੬॥
Sarab Sookh Naanak Thih Paaeiaa ||6||
सरब सूख नानक तिह पाइआ ॥६॥
All comforts, O Nanak, are so obtained. ||6||
ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਜੀਵਾਲਨਹਾਰ ॥
Mirathak Ko Jeevaalanehaar ||
मिरतक कउ जीवालनहार ॥
He infuses life back into the dead.
ਭੂਖੇ ਕਉ ਦੇਵਤ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
Bhookhae Ko Dhaevath Adhhaar ||
भूखे कउ देवत अधार ॥
He gives food to the hungry.
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Sarab Nidhhaan Jaa Kee Dhrisattee Maahi ||
सरब निधान जा की द्रिसटी माहि ॥
All treasures are within His Glance of Grace.
ਪੁਰਬ ਲਿਖੇ ਕਾ ਲਹਣਾ ਪਾਹਿ ॥

पुरब लिखे का लहणा पाहि ॥
People obtain that which they are pre-ordained to receive.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਓਹੁ ਕਰਨੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
Sabh Kishh This Kaa Ouhu Karanai Jog ||
सभु किछु तिस का ओहु करनै जोगु ॥
All things are His; He is the Doer of all.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਸਰ ਹੋਆ ਨ ਹੋਗੁ ॥
This Bin Dhoosar Hoaa N Hog ||
तिसु बिनु दूसर होआ न होगु ॥
Other than Him, there has never been any other, and there shall never be.
ਜਪਿ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣੀ ॥
Jap Jan Sadhaa Sadhaa Dhin Rainee ||
जपि जन सदा सदा दिनु रैणी ॥
Meditate on Him forever and ever, day and night.
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਇਹ ਕਰਣੀ ॥
Sabh Thae Ooch Niramal Eih Karanee ||
सभ ते ऊच निरमल इह करणी ॥
This way of life is exalted and immaculate.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਆ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Jis Ko Naam Dheeaa ||
करि किरपा जिस कउ नामु दीआ ॥
One whom the Lord, in His Grace, blesses with His Name
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਥੀਆ ॥੭॥
Naanak So Jan Niramal Thheeaa ||7||
नानक सो जनु निरमलु थीआ ॥७॥
- O Nanak, that person becomes immaculate and pure. ||7||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
Jaa Kai Man Gur Kee Paratheeth ||
जा कै मनि गुर की परतीति ॥
One who has faith in the Guru in his mind
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
This Jan Aavai Har Prabh Cheeth ||
तिसु जन आवै हरि प्रभु चीति ॥
Comes to dwell upon the Lord God.
ਭਗਤੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਇ ॥
Bhagath Bhagath Suneeai Thihu Loe ||
भगतु भगतु सुनीऐ तिहु लोइ ॥
He is acclaimed as a devotee, a humble devotee throughout the three worlds.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਏਕੋ ਹੋਇ ॥
Jaa Kai Hiradhai Eaeko Hoe ||
जा कै हिरदै एको होइ ॥
The One Lord is in his heart.
ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਰਹਤ ॥
Sach Karanee Sach Thaa Kee Rehath ||
सचु करणी सचु ता की रहत ॥
True are his actions; true are his ways.
ਸਚੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਤਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਕਹਤ ॥
Sach Hiradhai Sath Mukh Kehath ||
सचु हिरदै सति मुखि कहत ॥
True is his heart; Truth is what he speaks with his mouth.
ਸਾਚੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥
Saachee Dhrisatt Saachaa Aakaar ||
साची द्रिसटि साचा आकारु ॥
True is his vision; true is his form.
ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ॥
Sach Varathai Saachaa Paasaar ||
सचु वरतै साचा पासारु ॥
He distributes Truth and he spreads Truth.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
Paarabreham Jin Sach Kar Jaathaa ||
पारब्रहमु जिनि सचु करि जाता ॥
One who recognizes the Supreme Lord God as True
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਤਾ ॥੮॥੧੫॥
Naanak So Jan Sach Samaathaa ||8||15||
नानक सो जनु सचि समाता ॥८॥१५॥
- O Nanak, that humble being is absorbed into the True One. ||8||15||

Roop N Raekh N Rang Kishh Thrihu Gun Thae Prabh Bhinn ||
रूपु न रेख न रंगु किछु त्रिहु गुण ते प्रभ भिंन ॥
He has no form, no shape, no color; God is beyond the three qualities.
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ॥੧॥
Thisehi Bujhaaeae Naanakaa Jis Hovai Suprasann ||1||
तिसहि बुझाए नानका जिसु होवै सुप्रसंन ॥१॥
They alone understand Him, O Nanak, with whom He is pleased. ||1||

मानुख की तू प्रीति तिआगु ॥
Renounce your love and attachment to people.
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਪਰੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
This Thae Parai Naahee Kishh Koe ||
तिस ते परै नाही किछु कोइ ॥
Beyond Him, there is nothing at all.
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥
Sarab Niranthar Eaeko Soe ||
सरब निरंतरि एको सोइ ॥
The One Lord is pervading among all.
ਆਪੇ ਬੀਨਾ ਆਪੇ ਦਾਨਾ ॥
Aapae Beenaa Aapae Dhaanaa ||
आपे बीना आपे दाना ॥
He Himself is All-seeing; He Himself is All-knowing,
ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ਗਹੀਰੁ ਸੁਜਾਨਾ ॥
Gehir Ganbheer Geheer Sujaanaa ||
गहिर ग्मभीरु गहीरु सुजाना ॥
Unfathomable, Profound, Deep and All-knowing.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥

पारब्रहम परमेसुर गोबिंद ॥
He is the Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, the Lord of the Universe,
