ਰੇ ਮਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਹ ਰਚਹੁ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਬੰਧਨ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
Rae Man Bin Har Jeh Rachahu Theh Theh Bandhhan Paahi ||
रे मन बिनु हरि जह रचहु तह तह बंधन पाहि ॥
O mind: without the Lord, whatever you are involved in shall bind you in chains.
ਜਿਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਤਹੂ ਨ ਛੂਟੀਐ ਸਾਕਤ ਤੇਊ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥
Jih Bidhh Kathehoo N Shhootteeai Saakath Thaeoo Kamaahi ||
जिह बिधि कतहू न छूटीऐ साकत तेऊ कमाहि ॥
The faithless cynic does those deeds which will never allow him to be emancipated.
ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤੇ ਕਰਮ ਰਤ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਭਾਰੁ ਅਫਾਰ ॥
Ho Ho Karathae Karam Rath Thaa Ko Bhaar Afaar ||
हउ हउ करते करम रत ता को भारु अफार ॥
Acting in egotism, selfishness and conceit, the lovers of rituals carry the unbearable load.
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਉ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਤਉ ਏਊ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
Preeth Nehee Jo Naam Sio Tho Eaeoo Karam Bikaar ||
प्रीति नही जउ नाम सिउ तउ एऊ करम बिकार ॥
When there is no love for the Naam, then these rituals are corrupt.
ਬਾਧੇ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਜੇਵਰੀ ਮੀਠੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ॥
Baadhhae Jam Kee Jaevaree Meethee Maaeiaa Rang ||
बाधे जम की जेवरी मीठी माइआ रंग ॥
The rope of death binds those who are in love with the sweet taste of Maya.
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕੇ ਮੋਹੇ ਨਹ ਬੁਝਹਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦਹੂ ਸੰਗ ॥
Bhram Kae Mohae Neh Bujhehi So Prabh Sadhehoo Sang ||
भ्रम के मोहे नह बुझहि सो प्रभु सदहू संग ॥
Deluded by doubt, they do not understand that God is always with them.
ਲੇਖੈ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਛੂਟੀਐ ਕਾਚੀ ਭੀਤਿ ਨ ਸੁਧਿ ॥
Laekhai Ganath N Shhootteeai Kaachee Bheeth N Sudhh ||
लेखै गणत न छूटीऐ काची भीति न सुधि ॥
When their accounts are called for, they shall not be released; their wall of mud cannot be washed clean.
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਤਿਹ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬੁਧਿ ॥੯॥
Jisehi Bujhaaeae Naanakaa Thih Guramukh Niramal Budhh ||9||
जिसहि बुझाए नानका तिह गुरमुखि निरमल बुधि ॥९॥
One who is made to understand - O Nanak, that Gurmukh obtains immaculate understanding. ||9||

ਟੂਟੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਜਾਸੁ ਕੇ ਹੋਆ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
Ttoottae Bandhhan Jaas Kae Hoaa Saadhhoo Sang ||
टूटे बंधन जासु के होआ साधू संगु ॥
One whose bonds are cut away joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਜੋ ਰਾਤੇ ਰੰਗ ਏਕ ਕੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੂੜਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੧॥
Jo Raathae Rang Eaek Kai Naanak Goorraa Rang ||1||
जो राते रंग एक कै नानक गूड़ा रंगु ॥१॥
Those who are imbued with the Love of the One Lord, O Nanak, take on the deep and lasting color of His Love. ||1||

RARRA: Dye this heart of yours in the color of the Lord's Love.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਜਪੁ ਰਸਨਾ ॥
Har Har Naam Japahu Jap Rasanaa ||
हरि हरि नामु जपहु जपु रसना ॥
Meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har - chant it with your tongue.
ਰੇ ਰੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਕਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਊ ॥
Rae Rae Dharageh Kehai N Kooo ||
रे रे दरगह कहै न कोऊ ॥
In the Court of the Lord, no one shall speak harshly to you.
ਆਉ ਬੈਠੁ ਆਦਰੁ ਸੁਭ ਦੇਊ ॥
Aao Baith Aadhar Subh Dhaeoo ||
आउ बैठु आदरु सुभ देऊ ॥
Everyone shall welcome you, saying, ""Come, and sit down.""
ਉਆ ਮਹਲੀ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਤੂ ਬਾਸਾ ॥
Ouaa Mehalee Paavehi Thoo Baasaa ||
उआ महली पावहि तू बासा ॥
In that Mansion of the Lord's Presence, you shall find a home.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਨਹ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਨਾਸਾ ॥
Janam Maran Neh Hoe Binaasaa ||
जनम मरन नह होइ बिनासा ॥
There is no birth or death, or destruction there.
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਲਿਖਿਓ ਧੁਰਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ॥
Masathak Karam Likhiou Dhhur Jaa Kai ||
मसतकि करमु लिखिओ धुरि जा कै ॥
One who has such karma written on his forehead,
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਪੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਘਰਿ ਤਾ ਕੈ ॥੧੦॥

हरि स्मपै नानक घरि ता कै ॥१०॥
O Nanak, has the wealth of the Lord in his home. ||10||

Laalach Jhooth Bikaar Moh Biaapath Moorrae Andhh ||
लालच झूठ बिकार मोह बिआपत मूड़े अंध ॥
Greed, falsehood, corruption and emotional attachment entangle the blind and the foolish.
ਲਾਗਿ ਪਰੇ ਦੁਰਗੰਧ ਸਿਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਬੰਧ ॥੧॥
Laag Parae Dhuragandhh Sio Naanak Maaeiaa Bandhh ||1||
लागि परे दुरगंध सिउ नानक माइआ बंध ॥१॥
Bound down by Maya, O Nanak, a foul odor clings to them. ||1||

लला लपटि बिखै रस राते ॥
LALLA: People are entangled in the love of corrupt pleasures;
ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦ ਮਾਤੇ ॥
Ahanbudhh Maaeiaa Madh Maathae ||
अह्मबुधि माइआ मद माते ॥
They are drunk with the wine of egotistical intellect and Maya.
ਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਮਰਨਾ ॥
Eiaa Maaeiaa Mehi Janamehi Maranaa ||
इआ माइआ महि जनमहि मरना ॥
In this Maya, they are born and die.
ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤਿਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਕਰਨਾ ॥
Jio Jio Hukam Thivai Thio Karanaa ||
जिउ जिउ हुकमु तिवै तिउ करना ॥
People act according to the Hukam of the Lord's Command.
ਕੋਊ ਊਨ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
Kooo Oon N Kooo Pooraa ||
कोऊ ऊन न कोऊ पूरा ॥
No one is perfect, and no one is imperfect.
ਕੋਊ ਸੁਘਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਮੂਰਾ ॥
Kooo Sughar N Kooo Mooraa ||
कोऊ सुघरु न कोऊ मूरा ॥
No one is wise, and no one is foolish.
ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗਨਾ ॥
Jith Jith Laavahu Thith Thith Laganaa ||
जितु जितु लावहु तितु तितु लगना ॥
Wherever the Lord engages someone, there he is engaged.
ਨਾਨਕ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਦਾ ਅਲਿਪਨਾ ॥੧੧॥

नानक ठाकुर सदा अलिपना ॥११॥

लाल गुपाल गोबिंद प्रभ गहिर ग्मभीर अथाह ॥
My Beloved God, the Sustainer of the World, the Lord of the Universe, is deep, profound and unfathomable.
ਦੂਸਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਵਰ ਕੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ ॥੧॥
Dhoosar Naahee Avar Ko Naanak Baeparavaah ||1||
दूसर नाही अवर को नानक बेपरवाह ॥१॥
There is no other like Him; O Nanak, He is not worried. ||1||

LALLA: There is no one equal to Him.
ਏਕਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਅਵਰ ਨਹ ਹੋਊ ॥
Eaekehi Aap Avar Neh Hooo ||
एकहि आपि अवर नह होऊ ॥
He Himself is the One; there shall never be any other.
ਹੋਵਨਹਾਰੁ ਹੋਤ ਸਦ ਆਇਆ ॥
Hovanehaar Hoth Sadh Aaeiaa ||
होवनहारु होत सद आइआ ॥
He is now, He has been, and He shall always be.
ਉਆ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Ouaa Kaa Anth N Kaahoo Paaeiaa ||
उआ का अंतु न काहू पाइआ ॥
No one has ever found His limit.
ਕੀਟ ਹਸਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਪੂਰ ਸਮਾਨੇ ॥
Keett Hasath Mehi Poor Samaanae ||
कीट हसति महि पूर समाने ॥
In the ant and in the elephant, He is totally pervading.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਭ ਠਾਊ ਜਾਨੇ ॥
Pragatt Purakh Sabh Thaaoo Jaanae ||
प्रगट पुरख सभ ठाऊ जाने ॥
The Lord, the Primal Being, is known by everyone everywhere.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦੀਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥
Jaa Ko Dheeno Har Ras Apanaa ||
जा कउ दीनो हरि रसु अपना ॥
That one, unto whom the Lord has given His Love
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਹ ਜਪਨਾ ॥੧੨॥
Naanak Guramukh Har Har Thih Japanaa ||12||
नानक गुरमुखि हरि हरि तिह जपना ॥१२॥
- O Nanak, that Gurmukh chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||12||

आतम रसु जिह जानिआ हरि रंग सहजे माणु ॥
One who knows the taste of the Lord's sublime essence, intuitively enjoys the Lord's Love.
ਨਾਨਕ ਧਨਿ ਧਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਜਨ ਆਏ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੧॥
Naanak Dhhan Dhhan Dhhann Jan Aaeae Thae Paravaan ||1||
नानक धनि धनि धंनि जन आए ते परवाणु ॥१॥
O Nanak, blessed, blessed, blessed are the Lord's humble servants; how fortunate is their coming into the world! ||1||

How fruitful is the coming into the world, of those
ਜਾਸੁ ਰਸਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਭਨੀਐ ॥
Jaas Rasan Har Har Jas Bhaneeai ||
जासु रसन हरि हरि जसु भनीऐ ॥
Whose tongues celebrate the Praises of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਆਇ ਬਸਹਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗੇ ॥
Aae Basehi Saadhhoo Kai Sangae ||
आइ बसहि साधू कै संगे ॥
They come and dwell with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy;
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਰੰਗੇ ॥
Anadhin Naam Dhhiaavehi Rangae ||
अनदिनु नामु धिआवहि रंगे ॥
Night and day, they lovingly meditate on the Naam.
ਆਵਤ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਮਹਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
Aavath So Jan Naamehi Raathaa ||
आवत सो जनु नामहि राता ॥
Blessed is the birth of those humble beings who are attuned to the Naam;
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥
Jaa Ko Dhaeiaa Maeiaa Bidhhaathaa ||
जा कउ दइआ मइआ बिधाता ॥
The Lord, the Architect of Destiny, bestows His Kind Mercy upon them.
ਏਕਹਿ ਆਵਨ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥
Eaekehi Aavan Fir Jon N Aaeiaa ||
एकहि आवन फिरि जोनि न आइआ ॥
They are born only once - they shall not be reincarnated again.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧੩॥
Naanak Har Kai Dharas Samaaeiaa ||13||
नानक हरि कै दरसि समाइआ ॥१३॥
O Nanak, they are absorbed into the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||13||

ਯਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ॥
Yaas Japath Man Hoe Anandh Binasai Dhoojaa Bhaao ||
यासु जपत मनि होइ अनंदु बिनसै दूजा भाउ ॥
Chanting it, the mind is filled with bliss; love of duality is eliminated, and pain, distress and desires are quenched.
ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੧॥
Dhookh Dharadh Thrisanaa Bujhai Naanak Naam Samaao ||1||
दूख दरद त्रिसना बुझै नानक नामि समाउ ॥१॥
O Nanak, immerse yourself in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
