ਹਰਿ ਅੰਦਰਲਾ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੰਚਾ ਨੋ ਉਘਾ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਾਲਿਆ ॥
Har Andharalaa Paap Panchaa No Oughaa Kar Vaekhaaliaa ||
हरि अंदरला पापु पंचा नो उघा करि वेखालिआ ॥
The Lord has exposed the penitent's secret sin to the elders.
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਜਮਕੰਕਰਾ ਨੋ ਆਖਿ ਛਡਿਆ ਏਸੁ ਤਪੇ ਨੋ ਤਿਥੈ ਖੜਿ ਪਾਇਹੁ ਜਿਥੈ ਮਹਾ ਮਹਾਂ ਹਤਿਆਰਿਆ ॥
Dhharam Raae Jamakankaraa No Aakh Shhaddiaa Eaes Thapae No Thithhai Kharr Paaeihu Jithhai Mehaa Mehaan Hathiaariaa ||
धरम राइ जमकंकरा नो आखि छडिआ एसु तपे नो तिथै खड़ि पाइहु जिथै महा महां हतिआरिआ ॥
The Righteous Judge of Dharma said to the Messenger of Death, ""Take this penitent and put him with the worst of the worst murderers.""
ਫਿਰਿ ਏਸੁ ਤਪੇ ਦੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਕੋਈ ਲਗਹੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਏਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਹੈ ਫਿਟਕਾਰਿਆ ॥
Fir Eaes Thapae Dhai Muhi Koee Lagahu Naahee Eaehu Sathigur Hai Fittakaariaa ||
फिरि एसु तपे दै मुहि कोई लगहु नाही एहु सतिगुरि है फिटकारिआ ॥
No one is to look at the face of this penitent again. He has been cursed by the True Guru.
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਦਰਿ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਸੁ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ॥
Har Kai Dhar Varathiaa S Naanak Aakh Sunaaeiaa ||
हरि कै दरि वरतिआ सु नानकि आखि सुणाइआ ॥
Nanak speaks and reveals what has taken place in the Court of the Lord.
ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜੁ ਦਯਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
So Boojhai J Dhay Savaariaa ||1||
सो बूझै जु दयि सवारिआ ॥१॥
He alone understands, who is blessed and adorned by the Lord. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Har Bhagathaan Har Aaraadhhiaa Har Kee Vaddiaaee ||
हरि भगतां हरि आराधिआ हरि की वडिआई ॥
The devotees of the Lord worship and adore the Lord, and the glorious greatness of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਭਗਤ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਂਵਦੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
Har Keerathan Bhagath Nith Gaanvadhae Har Naam Sukhadhaaee ||
हरि कीरतनु भगत नित गांवदे हरि नामु सुखदाई ॥
The Lord's devotees continually sing the Kirtan of His Praises; the Name of the Lord is the Giver of peace.
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੋ ਨਿਤ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਖਸੀਅਨੁ ਨਿਤ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਈ ॥
Har Bhagathaan No Nith Naavai Dhee Vaddiaaee Bakhaseean Nith Charrai Savaaee ||
हरि भगतां नो नित नावै दी वडिआई बखसीअनु नित चड़ै सवाई ॥
The Lord ever bestows upon His devotees the glorious greatness of His Name, which increases day by day.
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੋ ਥਿਰੁ ਘਰੀ ਬਹਾਲਿਅਨੁ ਅਪਣੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈ ॥
Har Bhagathaan No Thhir Gharee Behaalian Apanee Paij Rakhaaee ||
हरि भगतां नो थिरु घरी बहालिअनु अपणी पैज रखाई ॥
The Lord inspires His devotees to sit, steady and stable, in the home of their inner being. He preserves their honor.
ਨਿੰਦਕਾਂ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗਸੀ ਬਹੁ ਦੇਇ ਸਜਾਈ ॥
Nindhakaan Paasahu Har Laekhaa Mangasee Bahu Dhaee Sajaaee ||
निंदकां पासहु हरि लेखा मंगसी बहु देइ सजाई ॥
The Lord summons the slanderers to answer for their accounts, and He punishes them severely.
ਜੇਹਾ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਅਪਣੈ ਜੀਇ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਤੇਹੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
Jaehaa Nindhak Apanai Jeee Kamaavadhae Thaeho Fal Paaee ||
जेहा निंदक अपणै जीइ कमावदे तेहो फलु पाई ॥
As the slanderers think of acting, so are the fruits they obtain.
ਅੰਦਰਿ ਕਮਾਣਾ ਸਰਪਰ ਉਘੜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਕੋਈ ਬਹਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
Andhar Kamaanaa Sarapar Ougharrai Bhaavai Koee Behi Dhharathee Vich Kamaaee ||
अंदरि कमाणा सरपर उघड़ै भावै कोई बहि धरती विचि कमाई ॥
Actions done in secrecy are sure to come to light, even if one does it underground.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥

जन नानकु देखि विगसिआ हरि की वडिआई ॥२॥
Servant Nanak blossoms forth in joy, beholding the glorious greatness of the Lord. ||2||

ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਕਿਆ ਪਾਪੀ ਕਰੀਐ ॥
Bhagath Janaan Kaa Raakhaa Har Aap Hai Kiaa Paapee Kareeai ||
भगत जनां का राखा हरि आपि है किआ पापी करीऐ ॥
The Lord Himself is the Protector of His devotees; what can the sinner do to them?
ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਮੂੜ ਗੁਮਾਨੀਆ ਵਿਸੁ ਖਾਧੀ ਮਰੀਐ ॥
Gumaan Karehi Moorr Gumaaneeaa Vis Khaadhhee Mareeai ||
गुमानु करहि मूड़ गुमानीआ विसु खाधी मरीऐ ॥
The proud fool acts in pride, and eating his own poison, he dies.
ਆਇ ਲਗੇ ਨੀ ਦਿਹ ਥੋੜੜੇ ਜਿਉ ਪਕਾ ਖੇਤੁ ਲੁਣੀਐ ॥
Aae Lagae Nee Dhih Thhorrarrae Jio Pakaa Khaeth Luneeai ||
आइ लगे नी दिह थोड़ड़े जिउ पका खेतु लुणीऐ ॥
His few days have come to an end, and he is cut down like the crop at harvest.
ਜੇਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਤੇਵੇਹੋ ਭਣੀਐ ॥
Jaehae Karam Kamaavadhae Thaevaeho Bhaneeai ||
जेहे करम कमावदे तेवेहो भणीऐ ॥
According to one's actions, so is one spoken of.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੈ ਸਭਨਾ ਦਾ ਧਣੀਐ ॥੩੦॥
Jan Naanak Kaa Khasam Vaddaa Hai Sabhanaa Dhaa Dhhaneeai ||30||
जन नानक का खसमु वडा है सभना दा धणीऐ ॥३०॥
Glorious and great is the Lord and Master of servant Nanak; He is the Master of all. ||30||

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂਲਹੁ ਭੁਲਿਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਲਬੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
Manamukh Moolahu Bhuliaa Vich Lab Lobh Ahankaar ||
मनमुख मूलहु भुलिआ विचि लबु लोभु अहंकारु ॥
The self-willed manmukhs forget the Primal Lord, the Source of all; they are caught in greed and egotism.
ਝਗੜਾ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਦਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਕਰਹਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
Jhagarraa Karadhiaa Anadhin Gudharai Sabadh N Karehi Veechaar ||
झगड़ा करदिआ अनदिनु गुदरै सबदि न करहि वीचारु ॥
They pass their nights and days in conflict and struggle; they do not contemplate the Word of the Shabad.
ਸੁਧਿ ਮਤਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਹਿਰਿ ਲਈ ਬੋਲਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥
Sudhh Math Karathai Sabh Hir Lee Bolan Sabh Vikaar ||
सुधि मति करतै सभ हिरि लई बोलनि सभु विकारु ॥
The Creator has taken away all their understanding and purity; all their speech is evil and corrupt.
ਦਿਤੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਅਹਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤਿਸਨਾ ਬਹੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਰੁ ॥
Dhithai Kithai N Santhokheeahi Anthar Thisanaa Bahu Agiaan Andhhyaar ||
दितै कितै न संतोखीअहि अंतरि तिसना बहु अगिआनु अंध्यारु ॥
No matter what they are given, they are not satisfied; within their hearts there is great desire, ignorance and darkness.
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨਾਲੋ ਤੁਟੀ ਭਲੀ ਜਿਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧॥
Naanak Manamukhaa Naalo Thuttee Bhalee Jin Maaeiaa Moh Piaar ||1||
नानक मनमुखा नालो तुटी भली जिन माइआ मोह पिआरु ॥१॥
O Nanak, it is good to break away from the self-willed manmukhs, who have love and attachment to Maya. ||1||

ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਹੈ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Jinaa Andhar Dhoojaa Bhaao Hai Thinhaa Guramukh Preeth N Hoe ||
जिना अंदरि दूजा भाउ है तिन्हा गुरमुखि प्रीति न होइ ॥
Those whose hearts are filled with the love of duality, do not love the Gurmukhs.
ਓਹੁ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ਭਵਾਈਐ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
Ouhu Aavai Jaae Bhavaaeeai Supanai Sukh N Koe ||
ओहु आवै जाइ भवाईऐ सुपनै सुखु न कोइ ॥
They come and go, and wander in reincarnation; even in their dreams, they find no peace.
ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਕੂੜੁ ਉਚਰੈ ਕੂੜਿ ਲਗਿਆ ਕੂੜੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Koorr Kamaavai Koorr Oucharai Koorr Lagiaa Koorr Hoe ||
कूड़ु कमावै कूड़ु उचरै कूड़ि लगिआ कूड़ु होइ ॥
They practice falsehood and they speak falsehood; attached to falsehood, they become false.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਖਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਰੋਇ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohu Sabh Dhukh Hai Dhukh Binasai Dhukh Roe ||
माइआ मोहु सभु दुखु है दुखि बिनसै दुखु रोइ ॥
The love of Maya is total pain; in pain they perish, and in pain they cry out.
ਨਾਨਕ ਧਾਤੁ ਲਿਵੈ ਜੋੜੁ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜੇ ਲੋਚੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
Naanak Dhhaath Livai Jorr N Aavee Jae Lochai Sabh Koe ||
नानक धातु लिवै जोड़ु न आवई जे लोचै सभु कोइ ॥
O Nanak, there can be no union between the love of worldliness and the love of the Lord, no matter how much everyone may desire it.
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪੋਤੈ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਪਇਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
Jin Ko Pothai Punn Paeiaa Thinaa Gur Sabadhee Sukh Hoe ||2||
जिन कउ पोतै पुंनु पइआ तिना गुर सबदी सुखु होइ ॥२॥
Those who have the treasure of virtuous deeds find peace through the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||2||

ਨਾਨਕ ਵੀਚਾਰਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨਾਂ ਚਾਰਿ ਵੇਦ ਕਹੰਦੇ ॥
Naanak Veechaarehi Santh Mun Janaan Chaar Vaedh Kehandhae ||
नानक वीचारहि संत मुनि जनां चारि वेद कहंदे ॥
O Nanak, the Saints and the silent sages think, and the four Vedas proclaim,
ਭਗਤ ਮੁਖੈ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸੇ ਵਚਨ ਹੋਵੰਦੇ ॥
Bhagath Mukhai Thae Boladhae Sae Vachan Hovandhae ||
भगत मुखै ते बोलदे से वचन होवंदे ॥
That whatever the Lord's devotees speak comes to pass.
ਪਰਗਟ ਪਾਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਪਦੇ ਸਭਿ ਲੋਕ ਸੁਣੰਦੇ ॥
Paragatt Paahaarai Jaapadhae Sabh Lok Sunandhae ||
परगट पाहारै जापदे सभि लोक सुणंदे ॥
He is revealed in His cosmic workshop; all people hear of it.
ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਨਰ ਸੰਤ ਨਾਲਿ ਖਹੰਦੇ ॥
Sukh N Paaein Mugadhh Nar Santh Naal Khehandhae ||
सुखु न पाइनि मुगध नर संत नालि खहंदे ॥
The foolish people, who fight with the Saints, find no peace.
ਓਇ ਲੋਚਨਿ ਓਨਾ ਗੁਣਾ ਨੋ ਓਇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਸੜੰਦੇ ॥
Oue Lochan Ounaa Gunaa No Oue Ahankaar Sarrandhae ||
ओइ लोचनि ओना गुणा नो ओइ अहंकारि सड़ंदे ॥
The Saints seek to bless them with virtue, but they are burning with egotism.
ਓਇ ਵੇਚਾਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਾਂ ਭਾਗ ਧੁਰਿ ਮੰਦੇ ॥
Oue Vaechaarae Kiaa Karehi Jaan Bhaag Dhhur Mandhae ||
ओइ वेचारे किआ करहि जां भाग धुरि मंदे ॥
What can those wretched ones do? Their evil destiny was pre-ordained.
