ਧੰਧੜੇ ਕੁਲਾਹ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਹੇਕੜੋ ॥
Dhhandhharrae Kulaah Chith N Aavai Haekarro ||
धंधड़े कुलाह चिति न आवै हेकड़ो ॥
Worldly affairs are unprofitable, if the One Lord does not come to mind.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਤੰਨ ਫੁਟੰਨਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਸਾਂਈ ਵਿਸਰੈ ॥੧॥
Naanak Saeee Thann Futtann Jinaa Saanee Visarai ||1||
नानक सेई तंन फुटंनि जिना सांई विसरै ॥१॥
O Nanak, the bodies of those who forget their Master shall burst apart. ||1||

परेतहु कीतोनु देवता तिनि करणैहारे ॥
The ghost has been transformed into an angel by the Creator Lord.
ਸਭੇ ਸਿਖ ਉਬਾਰਿਅਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
Sabhae Sikh Oubaarian Prabh Kaaj Savaarae ||
सभे सिख उबारिअनु प्रभि काज सवारे ॥
God has emancipated all the Sikhs and resolved their affairs.
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਪਕੜਿ ਪਛਾੜਿਅਨੁ ਝੂਠੇ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥
Nindhak Pakarr Pashhaarrian Jhoothae Dharabaarae ||
निंदक पकड़ि पछाड़िअनु झूठे दरबारे ॥
He has seized the slanderers and thrown them to the ground, and declared them false in His Court.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੈ ਆਪਿ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੨॥

प्रभु बेअंतु किछु अंतु नाहि सभु तिसै करणा ॥
God is unlimited; He has no limit; He is the One who does everything.
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੋ ਜੀਆਂ ਕਾ ਪਰਣਾ ॥
Agam Agochar Saahibo Jeeaaan Kaa Paranaa ||
अगम अगोचरु साहिबो जीआं का परणा ॥
The Inaccessible and Unapproachable Lord and Master is the Support of His beings.
ਹਸਤ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਦਾ ਭਰਣ ਪੋਖਣੁ ਕਰਣਾ ॥
Hasath Dhaee Prathipaaladhaa Bharan Pokhan Karanaa ||
हसत देइ प्रतिपालदा भरण पोखणु करणा ॥
Giving His Hand, He nurtures and cherishes; He is the Filler and Fulfiller.
ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ਬਖਸਿੰਦੁ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਸਚੇ ਤਰਣਾ ॥
Miharavaan Bakhasindh Aap Jap Sachae Tharanaa ||
मिहरवानु बखसिंदु आपि जपि सचे तरणा ॥
He Himself is Merciful and Forgiving. Chanting the True Name, one is saved.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਭਲਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਰਣਾ ॥੨੦॥
Jo Thudhh Bhaavai So Bhalaa Naanak Dhaas Saranaa ||20||
जो तुधु भावै सो भला नानक दास सरणा ॥२०॥
Whatever pleases You - that alone is good; slave Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary. ||20||

ਤਿੰਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਕਾ ਰਹੀ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
Thinnaa Bhukh N Kaa Rehee Jis Dhaa Prabh Hai Soe ||
तिंना भुख न का रही जिस दा प्रभु है सोइ ॥
One who belongs to God has no hunger.
ਨਾਨਕ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਗਿਆ ਉਧਰੈ ਸਭੋ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
Naanak Charanee Lagiaa Oudhharai Sabho Koe ||1||
नानक चरणी लगिआ उधरै सभो कोइ ॥१॥
O Nanak, everyone who falls at his feet is saved. ||1||

ਜਾਚਿਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਨਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਬੂਲੁ ॥
Jaachik Mangai Nith Naam Saahib Karae Kabool ||
जाचिकु मंगै नित नामु साहिबु करे कबूलु ॥
If the beggar begs for the Lord's Name every day, his Lord and Master will grant his request.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਜਜਮਾਨੁ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਮੂਲਿ ॥੨॥
Naanak Paramaesar Jajamaan Thisehi Bhukh N Mool ||2||
नानक परमेसरु जजमानु तिसहि भुख न मूलि ॥२॥
O Nanak, the Transcendent Lord is the most generous host; He does not lack anything at all. ||2||

मनु रता गोविंद संगि सचु भोजनु जोड़े ॥
To imbue the mind with the Lord of the Universe is the true food and dress.
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਏ ਹਸਤੀ ਘੋੜੇ ॥
Preeth Lagee Har Naam Sio Eae Hasathee Ghorrae ||
प्रीति लगी हरि नाम सिउ ए हसती घोड़े ॥
To embrace love for the Name of the Lord is to possess horses and elephants.
ਰਾਜ ਮਿਲਖ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਘਣੀ ਧਿਆਇ ਮੁਖੁ ਨ ਮੋੜੇ ॥
Raaj Milakh Khuseeaa Ghanee Dhhiaae Mukh N Morrae ||
राज मिलख खुसीआ घणी धिआइ मुखु न मोड़े ॥
To meditate on the Lord steadfastly is to rule over kingdoms of property and enjoy all sorts of pleasures.
ਢਾਢੀ ਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਦਰੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਛੋੜੇ ॥
Dtaadtee Dhar Prabh Manganaa Dhar Kadhae N Shhorrae ||
ढाढी दरि प्रभ मंगणा दरु कदे न छोड़े ॥
The minstrel begs at God's Door - he shall never leave that Door.

Ab Mohi Jalath Raam Jal Paaeiaa ||
अब मोहि जलत राम जलु पाइआ ॥
I was on fire, but now I have found the Water of the Lord's Name.
ਰਾਮ ਉਦਕਿ ਤਨੁ ਜਲਤ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Raam Oudhak Than Jalath Bujhaaeiaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
राम उदकि तनु जलत बुझाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
This Water of the Lord's Name has cooled my burning body. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਣ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਬਨ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
Man Maaran Kaaran Ban Jaaeeai ||
मनु मारण कारणि बन जाईऐ ॥
To subdue their minds, some go off into the forests;
ਸੋ ਜਲੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧॥
So Jal Bin Bhagavanth N Paaeeai ||1||
सो जलु बिनु भगवंत न पाईऐ ॥१॥
But that Water is not found without the Lord God. ||1||
ਜਿਹ ਪਾਵਕ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਹੈ ਜਾਰੇ ॥
Jih Paavak Sur Nar Hai Jaarae ||
जिह पावक सुरि नर है जारे ॥
That fire has consumed angels and mortal beings,
ਰਾਮ ਉਦਕਿ ਜਨ ਜਲਤ ਉਬਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
Raam Oudhak Jan Jalath Oubaarae ||2||
राम उदकि जन जलत उबारे ॥२॥
But the Water of the Lord's Name saves His humble servants from burning. ||2||
ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
Bhav Saagar Sukh Saagar Maahee ||
भव सागर सुख सागर माही ॥
In the terrifying world-ocean, there is an ocean of peace.
ਪੀਵਿ ਰਹੇ ਜਲ ਨਿਖੁਟਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੩॥
Peev Rehae Jal Nikhuttath Naahee ||3||
पीवि रहे जल निखुटत नाही ॥३॥
I continue to drink it in, but this Water is never exhausted. ||3||
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਜੁ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਨੀ ॥
Kehi Kabeer Bhaj Saaringapaanee ||
कहि कबीर भजु सारिंगपानी ॥
Says Kabeer, meditate and vibrate upon the Lord, like the rainbird remembering the water.
ਰਾਮ ਉਦਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਤਿਖਾ ਬੁਝਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੧॥
Raam Oudhak Maeree Thikhaa Bujhaanee ||4||1||
राम उदकि मेरी तिखा बुझानी ॥४॥१॥
The Water of the Lord's Name has quenched my thirst. ||4||1||

गउड़ी कबीर जी ॥
Gauree, Kabeer Jee:
ਮਾਧਉ ਜਲ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Maadhho Jal Kee Piaas N Jaae ||
माधउ जल की पिआस न जाइ ॥
O Lord, my thirst for the Water of Your Name will not go away.
ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਉਠੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jal Mehi Agan Outhee Adhhikaae ||1|| Rehaao ||
जल महि अगनि उठी अधिकाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The fire of my thirst burns even more brightly in that Water. ||1||Pause||
ਤੂੰ ਜਲਨਿਧਿ ਹਉ ਜਲ ਕਾ ਮੀਨੁ ॥
Thoon Jalanidhh Ho Jal Kaa Meen ||
तूं जलनिधि हउ जल का मीनु ॥
You are the Ocean of Water, and I am just a fish in that Water.
ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਉ ਜਲਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖੀਨੁ ॥੧॥
Jal Mehi Reho Jalehi Bin Kheen ||1||
जल महि रहउ जलहि बिनु खीनु ॥१॥
In that Water, I remain; without that Water, I would perish. ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਪਿੰਜਰੁ ਹਉ ਸੂਅਟਾ ਤੋਰ ॥
Thoon Pinjar Ho Sooattaa Thor ||
तूं पिंजरु हउ सूअटा तोर ॥
You are the cage, and I am Your parrot.
ਜਮੁ ਮੰਜਾਰੁ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੈ ਮੋਰ ॥੨॥
Jam Manjaar Kehaa Karai Mor ||2||
जमु मंजारु कहा करै मोर ॥२॥
So what can the cat of death do to me? ||2||
ਤੂੰ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਹਉ ਪੰਖੀ ਆਹਿ ॥
Thoon Tharavar Ho Pankhee Aahi ||
तूं तरवरु हउ पंखी आहि ॥
You are the tree, and I am the bird.
ਮੰਦਭਾਗੀ ਤੇਰੋ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
Mandhabhaagee Thaero Dharasan Naahi ||3||
मंदभागी तेरो दरसनु नाहि ॥३॥
I am so unfortunate - I cannot see the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan! ||3||
