साधसंगि मिलि करहु अनंद ॥
Join the Company of the Holy, and be happy.
ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ॥
Gun Gaavahu Prabh Paramaanandh ||
गुन गावहु प्रभ परमानंद ॥
Sing the Glories of God, the embodiment of supreme bliss.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਤਤੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
Raam Naam Thath Karahu Beechaar ||
राम नाम ततु करहु बीचारु ॥
Contemplate the essence of the Lord's Name.
ਦ੍ਰੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਕਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
Dhraalabh Dhaeh Kaa Karahu Oudhhaar ||
द्रुलभ देह का करहु उधारु ॥
Redeem this human body, so difficult to obtain.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਚਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥
Anmrith Bachan Har Kae Gun Gaao ||
अम्रित बचन हरि के गुन गाउ ॥
Sing the Ambrosial Words of the Lord's Glorious Praises;
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਰਨ ਕਾ ਇਹੈ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
Praan Tharan Kaa Eihai Suaao ||
प्रान तरन का इहै सुआउ ॥
This is the way to save your mortal soul.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖਹੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥
Aath Pehar Prabh Paekhahu Naeraa ||
आठ पहर प्रभ पेखहु नेरा ॥
Behold God near at hand, twenty-four hours a day.
ਮਿਟੈ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ॥
Mittai Agiaan Binasai Andhhaeraa ||
मिटै अगिआनु बिनसै अंधेरा ॥
Ignorance shall depart, and darkness shall be dispelled.
ਸੁਨਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਾਵਹੁ ॥
Sun Oupadhaes Hiradhai Basaavahu ||
सुनि उपदेसु हिरदै बसावहु ॥
Listen to the Teachings, and enshrine them in your heart.
ਮਨ ਇਛੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੫॥
Man Eishhae Naanak Fal Paavahu ||5||
मन इछे नानक फल पावहु ॥५॥
O Nanak, you shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires. ||5||
ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਦੁਇ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
Halath Palath Dhue Laehu Savaar ||
हलतु पलतु दुइ लेहु सवारि ॥
Embellish both this world and the next;
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
Raam Naam Anthar Our Dhhaar ||
राम नामु अंतरि उरि धारि ॥
Enshrine the Lord's Name deep within your heart.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਦੀਖਿਆ ॥
Poorae Gur Kee Pooree Dheekhiaa ||
पूरे गुर की पूरी दीखिआ ॥
Perfect are the Teachings of the Perfect Guru.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਰੀਖਿਆ ॥
Jis Man Basai This Saach Pareekhiaa ||
जिसु मनि बसै तिसु साचु परीखिआ ॥
That person, within whose mind it abides, realizes the Truth.
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
Man Than Naam Japahu Liv Laae ||
मनि तनि नामु जपहु लिव लाइ ॥
With your mind and body, chant the Naam; lovingly attune yourself to it.
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਭਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
Dhookh Dharadh Man Thae Bho Jaae ||
दूखु दरदु मन ते भउ जाइ ॥
Sorrow, pain and fear shall depart from your mind.
ਸਚੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ॥
Sach Vaapaar Karahu Vaapaaree ||
सचु वापारु करहु वापारी ॥
Deal in the true trade, O trader,
ਦਰਗਹ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਖੇਪ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
Dharageh Nibehai Khaep Thumaaree ||
दरगह निबहै खेप तुमारी ॥
And your merchandise shall be safe in the Court of the Lord.
ਏਕਾ ਟੇਕ ਰਖਹੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Eaekaa Ttaek Rakhahu Man Maahi ||
एका टेक रखहु मन माहि ॥
Keep the Support of the One in your mind.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੬॥
Naanak Bahur N Aavehi Jaahi ||6||
नानक बहुरि न आवहि जाहि ॥६॥
O Nanak, you shall not have to come and go in reincarnation again. ||6||
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਹਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਇ ॥
This Thae Dhoor Kehaa Ko Jaae ||
तिस ते दूरि कहा को जाइ ॥
Where can anyone go, to get away from Him?
ਉਬਰੈ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
Oubarai Raakhanehaar Dhhiaae ||
उबरै राखनहारु धिआइ ॥
Meditating on the Protector Lord, you shall be saved.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਜਪੈ ਸਗਲ ਭਉ ਮਿਟੈ ॥
Nirabho Japai Sagal Bho Mittai ||
निरभउ जपै सगल भउ मिटै ॥
Meditating on the Fearless Lord, all fear departs.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਛੁਟੈ ॥
Prabh Kirapaa Thae Praanee Shhuttai ||
प्रभ किरपा ते प्राणी छुटै ॥
By God's Grace, mortals are released.
ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਖ ॥
Jis Prabh Raakhai This Naahee Dhookh ||
जिसु प्रभु राखै तिसु नाही दूख ॥
One who is protected by God never suffers in pain.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੂਖ ॥
Naam Japath Man Hovath Sookh ||
नामु जपत मनि होवत सूख ॥
Chanting the Naam, the mind becomes peaceful.
ਚਿੰਤਾ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਟੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
Chinthaa Jaae Mittai Ahankaar ||
चिंता जाइ मिटै अहंकारु ॥
Anxiety departs, and ego is eliminated.
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਹੁਚਨਹਾਰੁ ॥
This Jan Ko Koe N Pahuchanehaar ||
तिसु जन कउ कोइ न पहुचनहारु ॥
No one can equal that humble servant.
ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਠਾਢਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੂਰਾ ॥
Sir Oopar Thaadtaa Gur Sooraa ||
सिर ऊपरि ठाढा गुरु सूरा ॥
The Brave and Powerful Guru stands over his head.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਪੂਰਾ ॥੭॥
Naanak Thaa Kae Kaaraj Pooraa ||7||
नानक ता के कारज पूरा ॥७॥
O Nanak, his efforts are fulfilled. ||7||
ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ॥

मति पूरी अम्रितु जा की द्रिसटि ॥
His wisdom is perfect, and His Glance is Ambrosial.
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਉਧਰਤ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ॥
Dharasan Paekhath Oudhharath Srisatt ||
दरसनु पेखत उधरत स्रिसटि ॥
Beholding His Vision, the universe is saved.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਅਨੂਪ ॥

चरन कमल जा के अनूप ॥
His Lotus Feet are incomparably beautiful.
ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪ ॥
Safal Dharasan Sundhar Har Roop ||
सफल दरसनु सुंदर हरि रूप ॥
The Blessed Vision of His Darshan is fruitful and rewarding; His Lordly Form is beautiful.
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
Dhhann Saevaa Saevak Paravaan ||
धंनु सेवा सेवकु परवानु ॥
Blessed is His service; His servant is famous.
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨੁ ॥
Antharajaamee Purakh Pradhhaan ||
अंतरजामी पुरखु प्रधानु ॥
The Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is the most exalted Supreme Being.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਤ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥
Jis Man Basai S Hoth Nihaal ||
जिसु मनि बसै सु होत निहालु ॥
That one, within whose mind He abides, is blissfully happy.
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵਤ ਕਾਲੁ ॥
Thaa Kai Nikatt N Aavath Kaal ||
ता कै निकटि न आवत कालु ॥
Death does not draw near him.
ਅਮਰ ਭਏ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Amar Bheae Amaraa Padh Paaeiaa ||
अमर भए अमरा पदु पाइआ ॥
One becomes immortal, and obtains the immortal status,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੮॥੨੨॥

ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧੇਰ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ॥
Giaan Anjan Gur Dheeaa Agiaan Andhhaer Binaas ||
गिआन अंजनु गुरि दीआ अगिआन अंधेर बिनासु ॥
The Guru has given the healing ointment of spiritual wisdom, and dispelled the darkness of ignorance.
ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥

हरि किरपा ते संत भेटिआ नानक मनि परगासु ॥१॥
By the Lord's Grace, I have met the Saint; O Nanak, my mind is enlightened. ||1||

संतसंगि अंतरि प्रभु डीठा ॥
In the Society of the Saints, I see God deep within my being.
ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਾ ਲਾਗਾ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
Naam Prabhoo Kaa Laagaa Meethaa ||
नामु प्रभू का लागा मीठा ॥
God's Name is sweet to me.
ਸਗਲ ਸਮਿਗ੍ਰੀ ਏਕਸੁ ਘਟ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Sagal Samigree Eaekas Ghatt Maahi ||
सगल समिग्री एकसु घट माहि ॥
All things are contained in the Heart of the One,
ਅਨਿਕ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਨਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਹਿ ॥
Anik Rang Naanaa Dhrisattaahi ||
अनिक रंग नाना द्रिसटाहि ॥
Although they appear in so many various colors.
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
No Nidhh Anmrith Prabh Kaa Naam ||
नउ निधि अम्रितु प्रभ का नामु ॥
The nine treasures are in the Ambrosial Name of God.
ਦੇਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਇਸ ਕਾ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥
Dhaehee Mehi Eis Kaa Bisraam ||
देही महि इस का बिस्रामु ॥
Within the human body is its place of rest.
ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਅਨਹਤ ਤਹ ਨਾਦ ॥
Sunn Samaadhh Anehath Theh Naadh ||
सुंन समाधि अनहत तह नाद ॥
The Deepest Samaadhi, and the unstruck sound current of the Naad are there.
ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਅਚਰਜ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥
Kehan N Jaaee Acharaj Bisamaadh ||
कहनु न जाई अचरज बिसमाद ॥
The wonder and marvel of it cannot be described.
ਤਿਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਖਾਏ ॥
Thin Dhaekhiaa Jis Aap Dhikhaaeae ||
तिनि देखिआ जिसु आपि दिखाए ॥
He alone sees it, unto whom God Himself reveals it.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
Naanak This Jan Sojhee Paaeae ||1||
नानक तिसु जन सोझी पाए ॥१॥
O Nanak, that humble being understands. ||1||
ਸੋ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਅਨੰਤ ॥
So Anthar So Baahar Ananth ||
सो अंतरि सो बाहरि अनंत ॥
The Infinite Lord is inside, and outside as well.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬਿਆਪਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥
Ghatt Ghatt Biaap Rehiaa Bhagavanth ||
घटि घटि बिआपि रहिआ भगवंत ॥
Deep within each and every heart, the Lord God is pervading.
ਧਰਨਿ ਮਾਹਿ ਆਕਾਸ ਪਇਆਲ ॥
Dhharan Maahi Aakaas Paeiaal ||
धरनि माहि आकास पइआल ॥
In the earth, in the Akaashic ethers, and in the nether regions of the underworld
ਸਰਬ ਲੋਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
Sarab Lok Pooran Prathipaal ||
सरब लोक पूरन प्रतिपाल ॥
In all worlds, He is the Perfect Cherisher.
