ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਜੋ ਜੀਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਰਤੈ ॥
Thoo Karathaa Sabh Kishh Jaanadhaa Jo Jeeaa Andhar Varathai ||
तू करता सभु किछु जाणदा जो जीआ अंदरि वरतै ॥
You, O Creator, know everything which occurs within our beings.
ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਅਗਣਤੁ ਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਗਣਤੈ ॥
Thoo Karathaa Aap Aganath Hai Sabh Jag Vich Ganathai ||
तू करता आपि अगणतु है सभु जगु विचि गणतै ॥
You Yourself, O Creator, are incalculable, while the entire world is within the realm of calculation.
ਸਭੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਣਤੈ ॥
Sabh Keethaa Thaeraa Varathadhaa Sabh Thaeree Banathai ||
सभु कीता तेरा वरतदा सभ तेरी बणतै ॥
Everything happens according to Your Will; You created all.
ਤੂ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਇਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਚਲਤੈ ॥
Thoo Ghatt Ghatt Eik Varathadhaa Sach Saahib Chalathai ||
तू घटि घटि इकु वरतदा सचु साहिब चलतै ॥
You are the One, pervading in each and every heart; O True Lord and Master, this is Your play.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਪਰਤੈ ॥੨੪॥
Sathigur No Milae S Har Milae Naahee Kisai Parathai ||24||
सतिगुर नो मिले सु हरि मिले नाही किसै परतै ॥२४॥
One who meets the True Guru meets the Lord; no one can turn him away. ||24||

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਕਰਿ ਰਖੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈਐ ਚਿਤੁ ॥
Eihu Manooaa Dhrirr Kar Rakheeai Guramukh Laaeeai Chith ||
इहु मनूआ द्रिड़ु करि रखीऐ गुरमुखि लाईऐ चितु ॥
Hold this mind steady and stable; become Gurmukh and focus your consciousness.
ਕਿਉ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ਬਹਦਿਆ ਉਠਦਿਆ ਨਿਤ ॥
Kio Saas Giraas Visaareeai Behadhiaa Outhadhiaa Nith ||
किउ सासि गिरासि विसारीऐ बहदिआ उठदिआ नित ॥
How could you ever forget Him, with each breath and morsel of food, sitting down or standing up?
ਮਰਣ ਜੀਵਣ ਕੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਗਈ ਇਹੁ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵਸਿ ॥
Maran Jeevan Kee Chinthaa Gee Eihu Jeearraa Har Prabh Vas ||
मरण जीवण की चिंता गई इहु जीअड़ा हरि प्रभ वसि ॥
My anxiety about birth and death has ended; this soul is under the control of the Lord God.
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੁ ਤੂ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਖਸਿ ॥੧॥
Jio Bhaavai Thio Rakh Thoo Jan Naanak Naam Bakhas ||1||
जिउ भावै तिउ रखु तू जन नानक नामु बखसि ॥१॥
If it pleases You, then save servant Nanak, and bless him with Your Name. ||1||

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਆਗੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਪੀਛੈ ॥
Manamukh Ahankaaree Mehal N Jaanai Khin Aagai Khin Peeshhai ||
मनमुखु अहंकारी महलु न जाणै खिनु आगै खिनु पीछै ॥
The egotistical self-willed manmukh does not know the Mansion of the Lord's Presence; one moment he is here and the next moment he is there.
ਸਦਾ ਬੁਲਾਈਐ ਮਹਲਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੀਝੈ ॥
Sadhaa Bulaaeeai Mehal N Aavai Kio Kar Dharageh Seejhai ||
सदा बुलाईऐ महलि न आवै किउ करि दरगह सीझै ॥
He is always invited, but he does not go to the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. How shall he be accepted in the Court of the Lord?
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ॥
Sathigur Kaa Mehal Viralaa Jaanai Sadhaa Rehai Kar Jorr ||
सतिगुर का महलु विरला जाणै सदा रहै कर जोड़ि ॥
How rare are those who know the Mansion of the True Guru; they stand with their palms pressed together.
ਆਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਏ ਬਹੋੜਿ ॥੨॥
Aapanee Kirapaa Karae Har Maeraa Naanak Leae Behorr ||2||
आपणी क्रिपा करे हरि मेरा नानक लए बहोड़ि ॥२॥
If my Lord grants His Grace, O Nanak, He restores them to Himself. ||2||

सा सेवा कीती सफल है जितु सतिगुर का मनु मंने ॥
Fruitful and rewarding is that service, which is pleasing to the Guru's Mind.
ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਾ ਪਾਪ ਕਸੰਮਲ ਭੰਨੇ ॥
Jaa Sathigur Kaa Man Manniaa Thaa Paap Kasanmal Bhannae ||
जा सतिगुर का मनु मंनिआ ता पाप कसमल भंने ॥
When the Mind of the True Guru is pleased, then sins and misdeeds run away.
ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਜਿ ਦਿਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੋ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਸਿਖੀ ਕੰਨੇ ॥
Oupadhaes J Dhithaa Sathiguroo So Suniaa Sikhee Kannae ||
उपदेसु जि दिता सतिगुरू सो सुणिआ सिखी कंने ॥
The Sikhs listen to the Teachings imparted by the True Guru.
ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਚੜੀ ਚਵਗਣਿ ਵੰਨੇ ॥
Jin Sathigur Kaa Bhaanaa Manniaa Thin Charree Chavagan Vannae ||
जिन सतिगुर का भाणा मंनिआ तिन चड़ी चवगणि वंने ॥
Those who surrender to the True Guru's Will are imbued with the four-fold Love of the Lord.
ਇਹ ਚਾਲ ਨਿਰਾਲੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ ਗੁਰ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨੁ ਭਿੰਨੇ ॥੨੫॥
Eih Chaal Niraalee Guramukhee Gur Dheekhiaa Sun Man Bhinnae ||25||
इह चाल निराली गुरमुखी गुर दीखिआ सुणि मनु भिंने ॥२५॥
This is the unique and distinct life-style of the Gurmukhs: listening to the Guru's Teachings, their minds blossom forth. ||25||

ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਪਿਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥
Jin Gur Gopiaa Aapanaa This Thour N Thaao ||
जिनि गुरु गोपिआ आपणा तिसु ठउर न ठाउ ॥
Those who do not affirm their Guru shall have no home or place of rest.
ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਦੋਵੈ ਗਏ ਦਰਗਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਥਾਉ ॥
Halath Palath Dhovai Geae Dharageh Naahee Thhaao ||
हलतु पलतु दोवै गए दरगह नाही थाउ ॥
They lose both this world and the next; they have no place in the Court of the Lord.
ਓਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਹਥਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਲਗਹਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
Ouh Vaelaa Hathh N Aavee Fir Sathigur Lagehi Paae ||
ओह वेला हथि न आवई फिरि सतिगुर लगहि पाइ ॥
This opportunity to bow at the Feet of the True Guru shall never come again.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਗਣਤੈ ਘੁਸੀਐ ਦੁਖੇ ਦੁਖਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
Sathigur Kee Ganathai Ghuseeai Dhukhae Dhukh Vihaae ||
सतिगुर की गणतै घुसीऐ दुखे दुखि विहाइ ॥
If they miss out on being counted by the True Guru, they shall pass their lives in pain and misery.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
Sathigur Purakh Niravair Hai Aapae Leae Jis Laae ||
सतिगुरु पुरखु निरवैरु है आपे लए जिसु लाइ ॥
The True Guru, the Primal Being, has no hatred or vengeance; He unites with Himself those with whom He is pleased.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਵੇਖਾਲਿਓਨੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥੧॥
Naanak Dharasan Jinaa Vaekhaalioun Thinaa Dharageh Leae Shhaddaae ||1||
नानक दरसनु जिना वेखालिओनु तिना दरगह लए छडाइ ॥१॥
O Nanak, those who behold the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, are emancipated in the Court of the Lord. ||1||

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥
Manamukh Agiaan Dhuramath Ahankaaree ||
मनमुखु अगिआनु दुरमति अहंकारी ॥
The self-willed manmukh is ignorant, evil-minded and egotistical.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਜੂਐ ਮਤਿ ਹਾਰੀ ॥
Anthar Krodhh Jooai Math Haaree ||
अंतरि क्रोधु जूऐ मति हारी ॥
He is filled with anger within, and he loses his mind in the gamble.
ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਸਤੁ ਓਹੁ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
Koorr Kusath Ouhu Paap Kamaavai ||
कूड़ु कुसतु ओहु पाप कमावै ॥
He commits the sins of fraud and unrighteousness.
ਕਿਆ ਓਹੁ ਸੁਣੈ ਕਿਆ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥
Kiaa Ouhu Sunai Kiaa Aakh Sunaavai ||
किआ ओहु सुणै किआ आखि सुणावै ॥
What can he hear, and what can he tell others?
ਅੰਨਾ ਬੋਲਾ ਖੁਇ ਉਝੜਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
Annaa Bolaa Khue Oujharr Paae ||
अंना बोला खुइ उझड़ि पाइ ॥
He is blind and deaf; he loses his way, and wanders lost in the wilderness.
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
Manamukh Andhhaa Aavai Jaae ||
मनमुखु अंधा आवै जाइ ॥
The blind, self-willed manmukh comes and goes in reincarnation;
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
Bin Sathigur Bhaettae Thhaae N Paae ||
बिनु सतिगुर भेटे थाइ न पाइ ॥
Without meeting the True Guru, he finds no place of rest.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
Naanak Poorab Likhiaa Kamaae ||2||
नानक पूरबि लिखिआ कमाइ ॥२॥
O Nanak, he acts according to his pre-ordained destiny. ||2||

जिन के चित कठोर हहि से बहहि न सतिगुर पासि ॥
Those who have hearts as hard as stone, do not sit near the True Guru.
ਓਥੈ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਾ ਚਿਤ ਉਦਾਸਿ ॥
Outhhai Sach Varathadhaa Koorriaaraa Chith Oudhaas ||
ओथै सचु वरतदा कूड़िआरा चित उदासि ॥
Truth prevails there; the false ones do not attune their consciousness to it.
ਓਇ ਵਲੁ ਛਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਝਤਿ ਕਢਦੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਬਹਹਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਾ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
Oue Val Shhal Kar Jhath Kadtadhae Fir Jaae Behehi Koorriaaraa Paas ||
ओइ वलु छलु करि झति कढदे फिरि जाइ बहहि कूड़िआरा पासि ॥
By hook or by crook, they pass their time, and then they go back to sit with the false ones again.
ਵਿਚਿ ਸਚੇ ਕੂੜੁ ਨ ਗਡਈ ਮਨਿ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕੋ ਨਿਰਜਾਸਿ ॥
Vich Sachae Koorr N Gaddee Man Vaekhahu Ko Nirajaas ||
विचि सचे कूड़ु न गडई मनि वेखहु को निरजासि ॥
Falsehood does not mix with the Truth; O people, check it out and see.
ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੀ ਜਾਇ ਰਲੇ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਸਿਖ ਬੈਠੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨੬॥
Koorriaar Koorriaaree Jaae Ralae Sachiaar Sikh Baithae Sathigur Paas ||26||
कूड़िआर कूड़िआरी जाइ रले सचिआर सिख बैठे सतिगुर पासि ॥२६॥
The false go and mingle with the false, while the truthful Sikhs sit by the side of the True Guru. ||26||
