ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸੰਦੇਸਰਾ ਅਖੀ ਤਾਰ ਲਗੰਨਿ ॥
Sun Saajan Praem Sandhaesaraa Akhee Thaar Lagann ||
सुणि साजन प्रेम संदेसरा अखी तार लगंनि ॥
Listen, O my Friend, to my message of love; my eyes are fixed upon You.
ਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਸਜਣੁ ਮੇਲਿਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਵੰਨਿ ॥੧॥
Gur Thuthai Sajan Maeliaa Jan Naanak Sukh Savann ||1||
गुरि तुठै सजणु मेलिआ जन नानक सुखि सवंनि ॥१॥
The Guru was pleased - He united servant Nanak with his friend, and now he sleeps in peace. ||1||

Sathigur Dhaathaa Dhaeiaal Hai Jis No Dhaeiaa Sadhaa Hoe ||
सतिगुरु दाता दइआलु है जिस नो दइआ सदा होइ ॥
The True Guru is the Merciful Giver; He is always compassionate.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਇਕੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
Sathigur Andharahu Niravair Hai Sabh Dhaekhai Breham Eik Soe ||
सतिगुरु अंदरहु निरवैरु है सभु देखै ब्रहमु इकु सोइ ॥
The True Guru has no hatred within Him; He beholds the One God everywhere.
ਨਿਰਵੈਰਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਜਿ ਵੈਰੁ ਚਲਾਇਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਤਿਸਟਿਆ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
Niravairaa Naal J Vair Chalaaeidhae Thin Vichahu Thisattiaa N Koe ||
निरवैरा नालि जि वैरु चलाइदे तिन विचहु तिसटिआ न कोइ ॥
Anyone who directs hate against the One who has no hate, shall never be satisfied within.

सतिगुरु सभना दा भला मनाइदा तिस दा बुरा किउ होइ ॥
The True Guru wishes everyone well; how can anything bad happen to Him?
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਕੋ ਇਛਦਾ ਤੇਹਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਕੋਇ ॥
Sathigur No Jaehaa Ko Eishhadhaa Thaehaa Fal Paaeae Koe ||
सतिगुर नो जेहा को इछदा तेहा फलु पाए कोइ ॥
As one feels towards the True Guru, so are the rewards he receives.

जिस नो साहिबु वडा करे सोई वड जाणी ॥
One who has been made great by his Lord and Master - know him to be great!
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੀ ॥
Jis Saahib Bhaavai This Bakhas Leae So Saahib Man Bhaanee ||
जिसु साहिब भावै तिसु बखसि लए सो साहिब मनि भाणी ॥
By His Pleasure, the Lord and Master forgives those who are pleasing to His Mind.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਓਸ ਦੀ ਰੀਸ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਮੂੜ ਅਜਾਣੀ ॥
Jae Ko Ous Dhee Rees Karae So Moorr Ajaanee ||
जे को ओस दी रीस करे सो मूड़ अजाणी ॥
One who tries to compete with Him is a senseless fool.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੁ ਗੁਣ ਰਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
Jis No Sathigur Maelae S Gun Ravai Gun Aakh Vakhaanee ||
जिस नो सतिगुरु मेले सु गुण रवै गुण आखि वखाणी ॥
One who is united with the Lord by the True Guru, sings His Praises and speaks His Glories.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਬੁਝਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੫॥
Naanak Sachaa Sach Hai Bujh Sach Samaanee ||5||
नानक सचा सचु है बुझि सचि समाणी ॥५॥
O Nanak, the True Lord is True; one who understands Him is absorbed in Truth. ||5||

Har Sath Niranjan Amar Hai Nirabho Niravair Nirankaar ||
हरि सति निरंजन अमरु है निरभउ निरवैरु निरंकारु ॥
The Lord is true, immaculate and eternal; He has no fear, hatred or form.
ਜਿਨ ਜਪਿਆ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਇਕ ਚਿਤਿ ਤਿਨ ਲਥਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਭਾਰੁ ॥
Jin Japiaa Eik Man Eik Chith Thin Lathhaa Houmai Bhaar ||
जिन जपिआ इक मनि इक चिति तिन लथा हउमै भारु ॥
Those who chant and meditate on Him, who single-mindedly focus their consciousness on Him, are rid of the burden of their ego.
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥

जिन गुरमुखि हरि आराधिआ तिन संत जना जैकारु ॥
Those Gurmukhs who worship and adore the Lord - hail to those Saintly beings!
ਕੋਈ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਫਿਟੁ ਫਿਟੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
Koee Nindhaa Karae Poorae Sathiguroo Kee This No Fitt Fitt Kehai Sabh Sansaar ||
कोई निंदा करे पूरे सतिगुरू की तिस नो फिटु फिटु कहै सभु संसारु ॥
If someone slanders the Perfect True Guru, he will be rebuked and reproached by the whole world.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਰਖਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
Sathigur Vich Aap Varathadhaa Har Aapae Rakhanehaar ||
सतिगुर विचि आपि वरतदा हरि आपे रखणहारु ॥
The Lord Himself abides within the True Guru; He Himself is His Protector.
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਦਾ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ॥
Dhhan Dhhann Guroo Gun Gaavadhaa This No Sadhaa Sadhaa Namasakaar ||
धनु धंनु गुरू गुण गावदा तिस नो सदा सदा नमसकारु ॥
Blessed, Blessed is the Guru, who sings the Glories of God. Unto Him, I bow forever and ever in deepest reverence.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਜਪਿਆ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥

जन नानक तिन कउ वारिआ जिन जपिआ सिरजणहारु ॥१॥

He Himself made the earth; He Himself made the sky.
ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪੇ ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਇਅਨੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਗਿਰਾਸੁ ॥
Vich Aapae Janth Oupaaeian Mukh Aapae Dhaee Giraas ||
विचि आपे जंत उपाइअनु मुखि आपे देइ गिरासु ॥
He Himself created the beings there, and He Himself places food in their mouths.
ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥
Sabh Aapae Aap Varathadhaa Aapae Hee Gunathaas ||
सभु आपे आपि वरतदा आपे ही गुणतासु ॥
He Himself is All-pervading; He Himself is the Treasure of Excellence.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਟੇ ਤਾਸੁ ॥੨॥

जन नानक नामु धिआइ तू सभि किलविख कटे तासु ॥२॥
O servant Nanak, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; He shall take away all your sinful mistakes. ||2||

You, O True Lord and Master, are True; the Truth is pleasing to the True One.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
Jo Thudhh Sach Salaahadhae Thin Jam Kankar Naerr N Aavai ||
जो तुधु सचु सलाहदे तिन जम कंकरु नेड़ि न आवै ॥
The Messenger of Death does not even approach those who praise You, O True Lord.
ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਦਰਿ ਉਜਲੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਚਾ ਭਾਵੈ ॥

तिन के मुख दरि उजले जिन हरि हिरदै सचा भावै ॥
Their faces are radiant in the Court of the Lord; the Lord is pleasing to their hearts.
ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਪਿਛਾਹਾ ਸਟੀਅਨਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਪਟੁ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
Koorriaar Pishhaahaa Satteean Koorr Hiradhai Kapatt Mehaa Dhukh Paavai ||
कूड़िआर पिछाहा सटीअनि कूड़ु हिरदै कपटु महा दुखु पावै ॥
The false ones are left behind; because of the falsehood and deceit in their hearts, they suffer in terrible pain.
ਮੁਹ ਕਾਲੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੀਆ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਕੂੜੋ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੬॥
Muh Kaalae Koorriaareeaa Koorriaar Koorro Hoe Jaavai ||6||
मुह काले कूड़िआरीआ कूड़िआर कूड़ो होइ जावै ॥६॥
Black are the faces of the false; the false remain just false. ||6||

सतिगुरु धरती धरम है तिसु विचि जेहा को बीजे तेहा फलु पाए ॥
The True Guru is the field of Dharma; as one plants the seeds there, so are the fruits obtained.
ਗੁਰਸਿਖੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
Gurasikhee Anmrith Beejiaa Thin Anmrith Fal Har Paaeae ||
गुरसिखी अम्रितु बीजिआ तिन अम्रित फलु हरि पाए ॥
The GurSikhs plant ambrosial nectar, and obtain the Lord as their ambrosial fruit.
ਓਨਾ ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਓਇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸਚੀ ਪੈਨਾਏ ॥
Ounaa Halath Palath Mukh Oujalae Oue Har Dharageh Sachee Painaaeae ||
ओना हलति पलति मुख उजले ओइ हरि दरगह सची पैनाए ॥
Their faces are radiant in this world and the next; in the Court of the Lord, they are robed with honor.
ਇਕਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਖੋਟੁ ਨਿਤ ਖੋਟੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਓਹੁ ਜੇਹਾ ਬੀਜੇ ਤੇਹਾ ਫਲੁ ਖਾਏ ॥
Eikanhaa Andhar Khott Nith Khott Kamaavehi Ouhu Jaehaa Beejae Thaehaa Fal Khaaeae ||
इकन्हा अंदरि खोटु नित खोटु कमावहि ओहु जेहा बीजे तेहा फलु खाए ॥
Some have cruelty in their hearts - they constantly act in cruelty; as they plant, so are the fruits which they eat.
