ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਹੋਤੀ ਕੋਟਿ ਉਪਾਧਿ ॥
Than Mehi Hothee Kott Oupaadhh ||
तन महि होती कोटि उपाधि ॥
My body was afflicted with millions of diseases.
ਉਲਟਿ ਭਈ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ॥
Oulatt Bhee Sukh Sehaj Samaadhh ||
उलटि भई सुख सहजि समाधि ॥
They have been transformed into the peaceful, tranquil concentration of Samaadhi.
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਨੈ ਆਪੈ ਆਪ ॥
Aap Pashhaanai Aapai Aap ||
आपु पछानै आपै आप ॥
When someone understands his own self,
ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਤੀਨੌ ਤਾਪ ॥੨॥
Rog N Biaapai Theena Thaap ||2||
रोगु न बिआपै तीनौ ताप ॥२॥
He no longer suffers from illness and the three fevers. ||2||
ਅਬ ਮਨੁ ਉਲਟਿ ਸਨਾਤਨੁ ਹੂਆ ॥
Ab Man Oulatt Sanaathan Hooaa ||
अब मनु उलटि सनातनु हूआ ॥
My mind has now been restored to its original purity.
ਤਬ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਜਬ ਜੀਵਤ ਮੂਆ ॥
Thab Jaaniaa Jab Jeevath Mooaa ||
तब जानिआ जब जीवत मूआ ॥
When I became dead while yet alive, only then did I come to know the Lord.
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਉ ॥
Kahu Kabeer Sukh Sehaj Samaavo ||
कहु कबीर सुखि सहजि समावउ ॥
Says Kabeer, I am now immersed in intuitive peace and poise.
ਆਪਿ ਨ ਡਰਉ ਨ ਅਵਰ ਡਰਾਵਉ ॥੩॥੧੭॥
Aap N Ddaro N Avar Ddaraavo ||3||17||
आपि न डरउ न अवर डरावउ ॥३॥१७॥
I do not fear anyone, and I do not strike fear into anyone else. ||3||17||

Pindd Mooai Jeeo Kih Ghar Jaathaa ||
पिंडि मूऐ जीउ किह घरि जाता ॥
When the body dies, where does the soul go?
ਸਬਦਿ ਅਤੀਤਿ ਅਨਾਹਦਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
Sabadh Atheeth Anaahadh Raathaa ||
सबदि अतीति अनाहदि राता ॥
It is absorbed into the untouched, unstruck melody of the Word of the Shabad.
ਜਿਨਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥
Jin Raam Jaaniaa Thinehi Pashhaaniaa ||
जिनि रामु जानिआ तिनहि पछानिआ ॥
Only one who knows the Lord realizes Him.
ਜਿਉ ਗੂੰਗੇ ਸਾਕਰ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥
Jio Goongae Saakar Man Maaniaa ||1||
जिउ गूंगे साकर मनु मानिआ ॥१॥
The mind is satisfied and satiated, like the mute who eats the sugar candy and just smiles, without speaking. ||1||
ਐਸਾ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਕਥੈ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
Aisaa Giaan Kathhai Banavaaree ||
ऐसा गिआनु कथै बनवारी ॥
Such is the spiritual wisdom which the Lord has imparted.
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਪਵਨ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਸੁਖਮਨ ਨਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मन रे पवन द्रिड़ सुखमन नारी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
O mind, hold your breath steady within the central channel of the Sushmanaa. ||1||Pause||
ਸੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਜਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਕਰਨਾ ॥
So Gur Karahu J Bahur N Karanaa ||
सो गुरु करहु जि बहुरि न करना ॥
Adopt such a Guru, that you shall not have to adopt another again.
ਸੋ ਪਦੁ ਰਵਹੁ ਜਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਰਵਨਾ ॥
So Padh Ravahu J Bahur N Ravanaa ||
सो पदु रवहु जि बहुरि न रवना ॥
Dwell in such a state, that you shall never have to dwell in any other.
ਸੋ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਧਰਹੁ ਜਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਧਰਨਾ ॥
So Dhhiaan Dhharahu J Bahur N Dhharanaa ||
सो धिआनु धरहु जि बहुरि न धरना ॥
Embrace such a meditation, that you shall never have to embrace any other.
ਐਸੇ ਮਰਹੁ ਜਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਮਰਨਾ ॥੨॥
Aisae Marahu J Bahur N Maranaa ||2||
ऐसे मरहु जि बहुरि न मरना ॥२॥
Die in such a way, that you shall never have to die again. ||2||
ਉਲਟੀ ਗੰਗਾ ਜਮੁਨ ਮਿਲਾਵਉ ॥
Oulattee Gangaa Jamun Milaavo ||
उलटी गंगा जमुन मिलावउ ॥
Turn your breath away from the left channel, and away from the right channel, and unite them in the central channel of the Sushmanaa.
ਬਿਨੁ ਜਲ ਸੰਗਮ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਵਉ ॥
Bin Jal Sangam Man Mehi Nhaavo ||
बिनु जल संगम मन महि न्हावउ ॥
At their confluence within your mind, take your bath there without water.
ਲੋਚਾ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ ॥
Lochaa Samasar Eihu Biouhaaraa ||
लोचा समसरि इहु बिउहारा ॥
To look upon all with an impartial eye - let this be your daily occupation.
ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ਕਿਆ ਅਵਰਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
Thath Beechaar Kiaa Avar Beechaaraa ||3||
ततु बीचारि किआ अवरि बीचारा ॥३॥
Contemplate this essence of reality - what else is there to contemplate? ||3||
ਅਪੁ ਤੇਜੁ ਬਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੀ ਆਕਾਸਾ ॥
Ap Thaej Baae Prithhamee Aakaasaa ||
अपु तेजु बाइ प्रिथमी आकासा ॥
Water, fire, wind, earth and ether
ਐਸੀ ਰਹਤ ਰਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਸਾ ॥
Aisee Rehath Reho Har Paasaa ||
ऐसी रहत रहउ हरि पासा ॥
Adopt such a way of life and you shall be close to the Lord.
ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥
Kehai Kabeer Niranjan Dhhiaavo ||
कहै कबीर निरंजन धिआवउ ॥
Says Kabeer, meditate on the Immaculate Lord.
ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਉ ਜਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਉ ॥੪॥੧੮॥
Thith Ghar Jaao J Bahur N Aavo ||4||18||
तितु घरि जाउ जि बहुरि न आवउ ॥४॥१८॥
Go to that home, which you shall never have to leave. ||4||18||

Kanchan Sio Paaeeai Nehee Thol ||
कंचन सिउ पाईऐ नही तोलि ॥
He cannot be obtained by offering your weight in gold.
ਮਨੁ ਦੇ ਰਾਮੁ ਲੀਆ ਹੈ ਮੋਲਿ ॥੧॥
Man Dhae Raam Leeaa Hai Mol ||1||
मनु दे रामु लीआ है मोलि ॥१॥
But I have bought the Lord by giving my mind to Him. ||1||
ਅਬ ਮੋਹਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
Ab Mohi Raam Apunaa Kar Jaaniaa ||
अब मोहि रामु अपुना करि जानिआ ॥
Now I recognize that He is my Lord.
ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sehaj Subhaae Maeraa Man Maaniaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
सहज सुभाइ मेरा मनु मानिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
My mind is intuitively pleased with Him. ||1||Pause||
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੈ ਕਥਿ ਕਥਿ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Brehamai Kathh Kathh Anth N Paaeiaa ||
ब्रहमै कथि कथि अंतु न पाइआ ॥
Brahma spoke of Him continually, but could not find His limit.
ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥
Raam Bhagath Baithae Ghar Aaeiaa ||2||
राम भगति बैठे घरि आइआ ॥२॥
Because of my devotion to the Lord, He has come to sit within the home of my inner being. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਚੰਚਲ ਮਤਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥

कहु कबीर चंचल मति तिआगी ॥
Says Kabeer, I have renounced my restless intellect.
ਕੇਵਲ ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਿਜ ਭਾਗੀ ॥੩॥੧॥੧੯॥

केवल राम भगति निज भागी ॥३॥१॥१९॥
It is my destiny to worship the Lord alone. ||3||1||19||

जिह मरनै सभु जगतु तरासिआ ॥
That death which terrifies the entire world
ਸੋ ਮਰਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਿਆ ॥੧॥
So Maranaa Gur Sabadh Pragaasiaa ||1||
सो मरना गुर सबदि प्रगासिआ ॥१॥
- the nature of that death has been revealed to me, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||
ਅਬ ਕੈਸੇ ਮਰਉ ਮਰਨਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
Ab Kaisae Maro Maran Man Maaniaa ||
अब कैसे मरउ मरनि मनु मानिआ ॥
Now, how shall I die? My mind has already accepted death.
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਤੇ ਜਿਨ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Mar Mar Jaathae Jin Raam N Jaaniaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
मरि मरि जाते जिन रामु न जानिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Those who do not know the Lord, die over and over again, and then depart. ||1||Pause||
ਮਰਨੋ ਮਰਨੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
Marano Maran Kehai Sabh Koee ||
मरनो मरनु कहै सभु कोई ॥
Everyone says, ""I will die, I will die.""
ਸਹਜੇ ਮਰੈ ਅਮਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
Sehajae Marai Amar Hoe Soee ||2||
सहजे मरै अमरु होइ सोई ॥२॥
But he alone becomes immortal, who dies with intuitive understanding. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਮਨਿ ਭਇਆ ਅਨੰਦਾ ॥

कहु कबीर मनि भइआ अनंदा ॥
Says Kabeer, my mind is filled with bliss;
ਗਇਆ ਭਰਮੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੩॥੨੦॥
Gaeiaa Bharam Rehiaa Paramaanandhaa ||3||20||
गइआ भरमु रहिआ परमानंदा ॥३॥२०॥
My doubts have been eliminated, and I am in ecstasy. ||3||20||

There is no special place where the soul aches; where should I apply the ointment?
ਖੋਜਤ ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਵਉ ॥੧॥

खोजत तन महि ठउर न पावउ ॥१॥
I have searched the body, but I have not found such a place. ||1||
ਲਾਗੀ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਪੀਰ ॥

लागी होइ सु जानै पीर ॥
He alone knows it, who feels the pain of such love;

एक भाइ देखउ सभ नारी ॥
I look upon all His soul-brides with an impartial eye;
ਕਿਆ ਜਾਨਉ ਸਹ ਕਉਨ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੨॥
Kiaa Jaano Seh Koun Piaaree ||2||
किआ जानउ सह कउन पिआरी ॥२॥
How can I know which ones are dear to the Husband Lord? ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ॥

कहु कबीर जा कै मसतकि भागु ॥
Says Kabeer, one who has such destiny inscribed upon her forehead
ਸਭ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਹਾਗੁ ॥੩॥੨੧॥

सभ परहरि ता कउ मिलै सुहागु ॥३॥२१॥
