ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥
Anth Nehee Kishh Paaraavaaraa ||
अंतु नही किछु पारावारा ॥
He has no end or limitation.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਧਰ ਰਹਾਵੈ ॥
Hukamae Dhhaar Adhhar Rehaavai ||
हुकमे धारि अधर रहावै ॥
By His Order, He established the earth, and He maintains it unsupported.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਉਪਜੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
Hukamae Oupajai Hukam Samaavai ||
हुकमे उपजै हुकमि समावै ॥
By His Order, the world was created; by His Order, it shall merge again into Him.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥
Hukamae Ooch Neech Biouhaar ||
हुकमे ऊच नीच बिउहार ॥
By His Order, one's occupation is high or low.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਅਨਿਕ ਰੰਗ ਪਰਕਾਰ ॥
Hukamae Anik Rang Parakaar ||
हुकमे अनिक रंग परकार ॥
By His Order, there are so many colors and forms.
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਅਪਨੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Kar Kar Dhaekhai Apanee Vaddiaaee ||
करि करि देखै अपनी वडिआई ॥
Having created the Creation, He beholds His own greatness.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥
Naanak Sabh Mehi Rehiaa Samaaee ||1||
नानक सभ महि रहिआ समाई ॥१॥
O Nanak, He is pervading in all. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
Prabh Bhaavai Maanukh Gath Paavai ||
प्रभ भावै मानुख गति पावै ॥
If it pleases God, one attains salvation.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਾਥਰ ਤਰਾਵੈ ॥
Prabh Bhaavai Thaa Paathhar Tharaavai ||
प्रभ भावै ता पाथर तरावै ॥
If it pleases God, then even stones can swim.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਸ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
Prabh Bhaavai Bin Saas Thae Raakhai ||
प्रभ भावै बिनु सास ते राखै ॥
If it pleases God, the body is preserved, even without the breath of life.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਭਾਖੈ ॥
Prabh Bhaavai Thaa Har Gun Bhaakhai ||
प्रभ भावै ता हरि गुण भाखै ॥
If it pleases God, then one chants the Lord's Glorious Praises.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰੈ ॥
Prabh Bhaavai Thaa Pathith Oudhhaarai ||
प्रभ भावै ता पतित उधारै ॥
If it pleases God, then even sinners are saved.
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੈ ਆਪਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥
Aap Karai Aapan Beechaarai ||
आपि करै आपन बीचारै ॥
He Himself acts, and He Himself contemplates.
ਦੁਹਾ ਸਿਰਿਆ ਕਾ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
Dhuhaa Siriaa Kaa Aap Suaamee ||
दुहा सिरिआ का आपि सुआमी ॥
He Himself is the Master of both worlds.
ਖੇਲੈ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
Khaelai Bigasai Antharajaamee ||
खेलै बिगसै अंतरजामी ॥
He plays and He enjoys; He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਜੋ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥
Jo Bhaavai So Kaar Karaavai ||
जो भावै सो कार करावै ॥
As He wills, He causes actions to be done.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥
Naanak Dhrisattee Avar N Aavai ||2||
नानक द्रिसटी अवरु न आवै ॥२॥
Nanak sees no other than Him. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਆਵੈ ॥
Kahu Maanukh Thae Kiaa Hoe Aavai ||
कहु मानुख ते किआ होइ आवै ॥
Tell me - what can a mere mortal do?
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥
Jo This Bhaavai Soee Karaavai ||
जो तिसु भावै सोई करावै ॥
Whatever pleases God is what He causes us to do.
ਇਸ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ਹੋਇ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਲੇਇ ॥
Eis Kai Haathh Hoe Thaa Sabh Kishh Laee ||
इस कै हाथि होइ ता सभु किछु लेइ ॥
If it were in our hands, we would grab up everything.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
Jo This Bhaavai Soee Karaee ||
जो तिसु भावै सोई करेइ ॥
Whatever pleases God - that is what He does.
ਅਨਜਾਨਤ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਚੈ ॥
Anajaanath Bikhiaa Mehi Rachai ||
अनजानत बिखिआ महि रचै ॥
Through ignorance, people are engrossed in corruption.
ਜੇ ਜਾਨਤ ਆਪਨ ਆਪ ਬਚੈ ॥
Jae Jaanath Aapan Aap Bachai ||
जे जानत आपन आप बचै ॥
If they knew better, they would save themselves.
ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
Bharamae Bhoolaa Dheh Dhis Dhhaavai ||
भरमे भूला दह दिसि धावै ॥
Deluded by doubt, they wander around in the ten directions.
ਨਿਮਖ ਮਾਹਿ ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
Nimakh Maahi Chaar Kuntt Fir Aavai ||
निमख माहि चारि कुंट फिरि आवै ॥
In an instant, their minds go around the four corners of the world and come back again.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਦੇਇ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Jis Apanee Bhagath Dhaee ||
करि किरपा जिसु अपनी भगति देइ ॥
Those whom the Lord mercifully blesses with His devotional worship
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੇਇ ॥੩॥
Naanak Thae Jan Naam Milaee ||3||
नानक ते जन नामि मिलेइ ॥३॥
- O Nanak, they are absorbed into the Naam. ||3||
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਨੀਚ ਕੀਟ ਕਉ ਰਾਜ ॥
Khin Mehi Neech Keett Ko Raaj ||
खिन महि नीच कीट कउ राज ॥
In an instant, the lowly worm is transformed into a king.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜ ॥
Paarabreham Gareeb Nivaaj ||
पारब्रहम गरीब निवाज ॥
The Supreme Lord God is the Protector of the humble.
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
Jaa Kaa Dhrisatt Kashhoo N Aavai ||
जा का द्रिसटि कछू न आवै ॥
Even one who has never been seen at all,
ਤਿਸੁ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵੈ ॥
This Thathakaal Dheh Dhis Pragattaavai ||
तिसु ततकाल दह दिस प्रगटावै ॥
Becomes instantly famous in the ten directions.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਰੈ ਬਖਸੀਸ ॥
Jaa Ko Apunee Karai Bakhasees ||
जा कउ अपुनी करै बखसीस ॥
And that one upon whom He bestows His blessings
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨ ਗਨੈ ਜਗਦੀਸ ॥
Thaa Kaa Laekhaa N Ganai Jagadhees ||
ता का लेखा न गनै जगदीस ॥
The Lord of the world does not hold him to his account.
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
Jeeo Pindd Sabh This Kee Raas ||
जीउ पिंडु सभ तिस की रासि ॥
Soul and body are all His property.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥
Ghatt Ghatt Pooran Breham Pragaas ||
घटि घटि पूरन ब्रहम प्रगास ॥
Each and every heart is illuminated by the Perfect Lord God.
ਅਪਨੀ ਬਣਤ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਈ ॥
Apanee Banath Aap Banaaee ||
अपनी बणत आपि बनाई ॥
He Himself fashioned His own handiwork.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਵੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਡਾਈ ॥੪॥
Naanak Jeevai Dhaekh Baddaaee ||4||
नानक जीवै देखि बडाई ॥४॥
Nanak lives by beholding His greatness. ||4||
ਇਸ ਕਾ ਬਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਇਸੁ ਹਾਥ ॥
Eis Kaa Bal Naahee Eis Haathh ||
इस का बलु नाही इसु हाथ ॥
There is no power in the hands of mortal beings;
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਨਾਥ ॥
Karan Karaavan Sarab Ko Naathh ||
करन करावन सरब को नाथ ॥
The Doer, the Cause of causes is the Lord of all.
ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
Aagiaakaaree Bapuraa Jeeo ||
आगिआकारी बपुरा जीउ ॥
The helpless beings are subject to His Command.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਫੁਨਿ ਥੀਉ ॥
Jo This Bhaavai Soee Fun Thheeo ||
जो तिसु भावै सोई फुनि थीउ ॥
That which pleases Him, ultimately comes to pass.
ਕਬਹੂ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਮਹਿ ਬਸੈ ॥
Kabehoo Ooch Neech Mehi Basai ||
कबहू ऊच नीच महि बसै ॥
Sometimes, they abide in exaltation; sometimes, they are depressed.
ਕਬਹੂ ਸੋਗ ਹਰਖ ਰੰਗਿ ਹਸੈ ॥
Kabehoo Sog Harakh Rang Hasai ||
कबहू सोग हरख रंगि हसै ॥
Sometimes, they are sad, and sometimes they laugh with joy and delight.
ਕਬਹੂ ਨਿੰਦ ਚਿੰਦ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥
Kabehoo Nindh Chindh Biouhaar ||
कबहू निंद चिंद बिउहार ॥
Sometimes, they are occupied with slander and anxiety.
ਕਬਹੂ ਊਭ ਅਕਾਸ ਪਇਆਲ ॥
Kabehoo Oobh Akaas Paeiaal ||
कबहू ऊभ अकास पइआल ॥
Sometimes, they are high in the Akaashic Ethers, sometimes in the nether regions of the underworld.
ਕਬਹੂ ਬੇਤਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
Kabehoo Baethaa Breham Beechaar ||
कबहू बेता ब्रहम बीचार ॥
Sometimes, they know the contemplation of God.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ ॥੫॥
Naanak Aap Milaavanehaar ||5||
नानक आपि मिलावणहार ॥५॥
O Nanak, God Himself unites them with Himself. ||5||
ਕਬਹੂ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ॥
Kabehoo Nirath Karai Bahu Bhaath ||
कबहू निरति करै बहु भाति ॥
Sometimes, they dance in various ways.
ਕਬਹੂ ਸੋਇ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
Kabehoo Soe Rehai Dhin Raath ||
कबहू सोइ रहै दिनु राति ॥
Sometimes, they remain asleep day and night.
ਕਬਹੂ ਮਹਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥
Kabehoo Mehaa Krodhh Bikaraal ||
कबहू महा क्रोध बिकराल ॥
Sometimes, they are awesome, in terrible rage.
ਕਬਹੂੰ ਸਰਬ ਕੀ ਹੋਤ ਰਵਾਲ ॥
Kabehoon Sarab Kee Hoth Ravaal ||
कबहूं सरब की होत रवाल ॥
Sometimes, they are the dust of the feet of all.
ਕਬਹੂ ਹੋਇ ਬਹੈ ਬਡ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
Kabehoo Hoe Behai Badd Raajaa ||
कबहू होइ बहै बड राजा ॥
Sometimes, they sit as great kings.
ਕਬਹੁ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਨੀਚ ਕਾ ਸਾਜਾ ॥
Kabahu Bhaekhaaree Neech Kaa Saajaa ||
कबहु भेखारी नीच का साजा ॥
Sometimes, they wear the coat of a lowly beggar.
ਕਬਹੂ ਅਪਕੀਰਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
Kabehoo Apakeerath Mehi Aavai ||
कबहू अपकीरति महि आवै ॥
Sometimes, they come to have evil reputations.
ਕਬਹੂ ਭਲਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥
Kabehoo Bhalaa Bhalaa Kehaavai ||
कबहू भला भला कहावै ॥
Sometimes, they are known as very, very good.
ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਵ ਹੀ ਰਹੈ ॥
Jio Prabh Raakhai Thiv Hee Rehai ||
जिउ प्रभु राखै तिव ही रहै ॥
As God keeps them, so they remain.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਕਹੈ ॥੬॥
Gur Prasaadh Naanak Sach Kehai ||6||
गुर प्रसादि नानक सचु कहै ॥६॥
By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, the Truth is told. ||6||
ਕਬਹੂ ਹੋਇ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਕਰੇ ਬਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਨੁ ॥
Kabehoo Hoe Panddith Karae Bakhyaan ||
कबहू होइ पंडितु करे बख्यानु ॥
Sometimes, as scholars, they deliver lectures.
ਕਬਹੂ ਮੋਨਿਧਾਰੀ ਲਾਵੈ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
Kabehoo Monidhhaaree Laavai Dhhiaan ||
कबहू मोनिधारी लावै धिआनु ॥
Sometimes, they hold to silence in deep meditation.
ਕਬਹੂ ਤਟ ਤੀਰਥ ਇਸਨਾਨ ॥
Kabehoo Thatt Theerathh Eisanaan ||
कबहू तट तीरथ इसनान ॥
Sometimes, they take cleansing baths at places of pilgrimage.
ਕਬਹੂ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨ ॥
Kabehoo Sidhh Saadhhik Mukh Giaan ||
कबहू सिध साधिक मुखि गिआन ॥
Sometimes, as Siddhas or seekers, they impart spiritual wisdom.
ਕਬਹੂ ਕੀਟ ਹਸਤਿ ਪਤੰਗ ਹੋਇ ਜੀਆ ॥
Kabehoo Keett Hasath Pathang Hoe Jeeaa ||
कबहू कीट हसति पतंग होइ जीआ ॥
Sometimes, they becomes worms, elephants, or moths.
ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭਰਮੈ ਭਰਮੀਆ ॥
Anik Jon Bharamai Bharameeaa ||
अनिक जोनि भरमै भरमीआ ॥
They may wander and roam through countless incarnations.
