ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਲਖਿਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਪੜਦਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਪਾਈ ॥
Anthar Alakh N Jaaee Lakhiaa Vich Parradhaa Houmai Paaee ||
अंतरि अलखु न जाई लखिआ विचि पड़दा हउमै पाई ॥
The Unseen Lord is deep within the self; He cannot be seen; the curtain of egotism intervenes.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਭੋ ਜਗੁ ਸੋਇਆ ਇਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਿਉ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
Maaeiaa Mohi Sabho Jag Soeiaa Eihu Bharam Kehahu Kio Jaaee ||1||
माइआ मोहि सभो जगु सोइआ इहु भरमु कहहु किउ जाई ॥१॥
In emotional attachment to Maya, all the world is asleep. Tell me, how can this doubt be dispelled? ||1||
ਏਕਾ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਇਕਤੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਬਸਤੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਕਰਤੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
Eaekaa Sangath Eikath Grihi Basathae Mil Baath N Karathae Bhaaee ||
एका संगति इकतु ग्रिहि बसते मिलि बात न करते भाई ॥
The one lives together with the other in the same house, but they do not talk to one another, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਏਕ ਬਸਤੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਪੰਚ ਦੁਹੇਲੇ ਓਹ ਬਸਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਠਾਈ ॥੨॥
Eaek Basath Bin Panch Dhuhaelae Ouh Basath Agochar Thaaee ||2||
एक बसतु बिनु पंच दुहेले ओह बसतु अगोचर ठाई ॥२॥
Without the one substance, the five are miserable; that substance is in the unapproachable place. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਤਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਤਾਲਾ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਉਪਾਈ ॥
Jis Kaa Grihu Thin Dheeaa Thaalaa Kunjee Gur Soupaaee ||
जिस का ग्रिहु तिनि दीआ ताला कुंजी गुर सउपाई ॥
And the one whose home it is, has locked it up, and given the key to the Guru.
ਅਨਿਕ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਰੇ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੩॥
Anik Oupaav Karae Nehee Paavai Bin Sathigur Saranaaee ||3||
अनिक उपाव करे नही पावै बिनु सतिगुर सरणाई ॥३॥
You may make all sorts of efforts, but it cannot be obtained, without the Sanctuary of the True Guru. ||3||
ਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤਿਨ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
Jin Kae Bandhhan Kaattae Sathigur Thin Saadhhasangath Liv Laaee ||
जिन के बंधन काटे सतिगुर तिन साधसंगति लिव लाई ॥
Those whose bonds have been broken by the True Guru, enshrine love for the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਪੰਚ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥੪॥
Panch Janaa Mil Mangal Gaaeiaa Har Naanak Bhaedh N Bhaaee ||4||
पंच जना मिलि मंगलु गाइआ हरि नानक भेदु न भाई ॥४॥
The self-elect, the self-realized beings, meet together and sing the joyous songs of the Lord. Nanak, there is no difference between them, O Siblings of Destiny. ||4||
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
Maerae Raam Raae Ein Bidhh Milai Gusaaee ||
मेरे राम राइ इन बिधि मिलै गुसाई ॥
This is how my Sovereign Lord King, the Lord of the Universe, is met;
ਸਹਜੁ ਭਇਆ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਠਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥੧੨੨॥

सहजु भइआ भ्रमु खिन महि नाठा मिलि जोती जोति समाई ॥१॥ रहाउ दूजा ॥१॥१२२॥

ਜਤ ਕਤ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਤ ਤਤ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਸੁਆਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਆਇਓ ॥
Jath Kath Dhaekho Thath Thath Thum Hee Mohi Eihu Bisuaas Hoe Aaeiou ||
जत कत देखउ तत तत तुम ही मोहि इहु बिसुआसु होइ आइओ ॥
Wherever I look, there You are; I am totally convinced of this.
ਕੈ ਪਹਿ ਕਰਉ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਜਉ ਸੁਨਤੋ ਹੈ ਰਘੁਰਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
Kai Pehi Karo Aradhaas Baenathee Jo Sunatho Hai Raghuraaeiou ||1||
कै पहि करउ अरदासि बेनती जउ सुनतो है रघुराइओ ॥१॥
Unto whom should I pray? The Lord Himself hears all. ||1||
ਲਹਿਓ ਸਹਸਾ ਬੰਧਨ ਗੁਰਿ ਤੋਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਓ ॥
Lehiou Sehasaa Bandhhan Gur Thorae Thaan Sadhaa Sehaj Sukh Paaeiou ||
लहिओ सहसा बंधन गुरि तोरे तां सदा सहज सुखु पाइओ ॥
My anxiety is over. The Guru has cut away my bonds, and I have found eternal peace.
ਹੋਣਾ ਸਾ ਸੋਈ ਫੁਨਿ ਹੋਸੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਹਾ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ॥੨॥
Honaa Saa Soee Fun Hosee Sukh Dhukh Kehaa Dhikhaaeiou ||2||
होणा सा सोई फुनि होसी सुखु दुखु कहा दिखाइओ ॥२॥
Whatever shall be, shall be in the end; so where can pain and pleasure be seen? ||2||
ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਕਾ ਏਕੋ ਠਾਣਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਪਰਦਾ ਖੋਲਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ॥
Khandd Brehamandd Kaa Eaeko Thaanaa Gur Paradhaa Khol Dhikhaaeiou ||
खंड ब्रहमंड का एको ठाणा गुरि परदा खोलि दिखाइओ ॥
The continents and the solar systems rest in the support of the One Lord. The Guru has removed the veil of illusion, and shown this to me.
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਇਕ ਠਾਈ ਤਉ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕੈਠੈ ਜਾਇਓ ॥੩॥
No Nidhh Naam Nidhhaan Eik Thaaee Tho Baahar Kaithai Jaaeiou ||3||
नउ निधि नामु निधानु इक ठाई तउ बाहरि कैठै जाइओ ॥३॥
The nine treasures of the wealth of the Name of the Lord are in that one place. Where else should we go? ||3||
ਏਕੈ ਕਨਿਕ ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਤਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰ ਰਚਾਇਓ ॥
Eaekai Kanik Anik Bhaath Saajee Bahu Parakaar Rachaaeiou ||
एकै कनिक अनिक भाति साजी बहु परकार रचाइओ ॥
The same gold is fashioned into various articles; just so, the Lord has made the many patterns of the creation.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਈ ਹੈ ਇਵ ਤਤੈ ਤਤੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਓ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੨੩॥
Kahu Naanak Bharam Gur Khoee Hai Eiv Thathai Thath Milaaeiou ||4||2||123||
कहु नानक भरमु गुरि खोई है इव ततै ततु मिलाइओ ॥४॥२॥१२३॥
Says Nanak, the Guru has dispelled my doubt; in this way, my essence merges into God's essence. ||4||2||123||

This life is diminishing, day and night.
ਮਨ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मन गुर मिलि काज सवारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Meeting with the Guru, your affairs shall be resolved. ||1||Pause||

Karo Baenanthee Sunahu Maerae Meethaa Santh Ttehal Kee Baelaa ||
करउ बेनंती सुनहु मेरे मीता संत टहल की बेला ॥
Listen, my friends, I beg of you: now is the time to serve the Saints!
ਈਹਾ ਖਾਟਿ ਚਲਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਆਗੈ ਬਸਨੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥੧॥
Eehaa Khaatt Chalahu Har Laahaa Aagai Basan Suhaelaa ||1||
ईहा खाटि चलहु हरि लाहा आगै बसनु सुहेला ॥१॥
In this world, earn the profit of the Lord's Name, and hereafter, you shall dwell in peace. ||1||
ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਬਿਕਾਰੁ ਸਹਸੇ ਮਹਿ ਤਰਿਓ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
Eihu Sansaar Bikaar Sehasae Mehi Thariou Breham Giaanee ||
इहु संसारु बिकारु सहसे महि तरिओ ब्रहम गिआनी ॥
This world is engrossed in corruption and cynicism. Only those who know God are saved.
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਜਗਾਇ ਪੀਆਏ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
Jisehi Jagaae Peeaaeae Har Ras Akathh Kathhaa Thin Jaanee ||2||
जिसहि जगाइ पीआए हरि रसु अकथ कथा तिनि जानी ॥२॥
Those who are awakened by the Lord to drink in this sublime essence, come to know the Unspoken Speech of the Lord. ||2||
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਆਏ ਸੋਈ ਵਿਹਾਝਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਨਹਿ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥
Jaa Ko Aaeae Soee Vihaajhahu Har Gur Thae Manehi Basaeraa ||
जा कउ आए सोई विहाझहु हरि गुर ते मनहि बसेरा ॥
Purchase only that for which you have come into the world, and through the Guru, the Lord shall dwell within your mind.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜੇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਇਗੋ ਫੇਰਾ ॥੩॥
Nij Ghar Mehal Paavahu Sukh Sehajae Bahur N Hoeigo Faeraa ||3||
निज घरि महलु पावहु सुख सहजे बहुरि न होइगो फेरा ॥३॥
Within the home of your own inner being, you shall obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence with intuitive ease. You shall not be consigned again to the wheel of reincarnation. ||3||
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ਸਰਧਾ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
Antharajaamee Purakh Bidhhaathae Saradhhaa Man Kee Poorae ||
अंतरजामी पुरख बिधाते सरधा मन की पूरे ॥
O Inner-knower, Searcher of hearts, Primal Being, Architect of Destiny: please fulfill this yearning of my mind.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਇਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰੇ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨੪॥
Naanak Dhaas Eihee Sukh Maagai Mo Ko Kar Santhan Kee Dhhoorae ||4||3||124||
नानकु दासु इही सुखु मागै मो कउ करि संतन की धूरे ॥४॥३॥१२४॥
Nanak, Your slave, begs for this happiness: let me be the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||4||3||124||

मोहि निरगुनु सभ गुन तेरे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
I am worthless and without virtue; all virtues are Yours. ||1||Pause||
ਪੰਚ ਬਿਖਾਦੀ ਏਕੁ ਗਰੀਬਾ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥

पंच बिखादी एकु गरीबा राखहु राखनहारे ॥
The five vicious thieves are assaulting my poor being; save me, O Savior Lord!
ਖੇਦੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਅਰੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਸੰਤਾਵਹਿ ਆਇਓ ਸਰਨਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
Khaedh Karehi Ar Bahuth Santhaavehi Aaeiou Saran Thuhaarae ||1||
खेदु करहि अरु बहुतु संतावहि आइओ सरनि तुहारे ॥१॥
They are tormenting and torturing me. I have come, seeking Your Sanctuary. ||1||
