ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
Sabadh Man Rangiaa Liv Laae ||
सबदि मनु रंगिआ लिव लाइ ॥
The mind is attuned to the Word of the Shabad; it is lovingly attuned to the Lord.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
Nij Ghar Vasiaa Prabh Kee Rajaae ||1||
निज घरि वसिआ प्रभ की रजाइ ॥१॥
It abides within its own home, in harmony with the Lord's Will. ||1||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਜਾਇ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
Sathigur Saeviai Jaae Abhimaan ||
सतिगुरु सेविऐ जाइ अभिमानु ॥
Serving the True Guru, egotistical pride departs,
ਗੋਵਿਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Govidh Paaeeai Gunee Nidhhaan ||1|| Rehaao ||
गोविदु पाईऐ गुणी निधानु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
And the Lord of the Universe, the Treasure of Excellence, is obtained. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਜਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਭਉ ਖਾਇ ॥
Man Bairaagee Jaa Sabadh Bho Khaae ||
मनु बैरागी जा सबदि भउ खाइ ॥
The mind becomes detached and free of desire, when it experiences the Fear of God, through the Shabad.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਸਭ ਤੈ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
Maeraa Prabh Niramalaa Sabh Thai Rehiaa Samaae ||
मेरा प्रभु निरमला सभ तै रहिआ समाइ ॥
My Immaculate God is pervading and contained among all.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
Gur Kirapaa Thae Milai Milaae ||2||
गुर किरपा ते मिलै मिलाइ ॥२॥
By Guru's Grace, one is united in His Union. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੋ ਦਾਸੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
Har Dhaasan Ko Dhaas Sukh Paaeae ||
हरि दासन को दासु सुखु पाए ॥
The slave of the Lord's slave attains peace.
ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਏ ॥
Maeraa Har Prabh Ein Bidhh Paaeiaa Jaaeae ||
मेरा हरि प्रभु इन बिधि पाइआ जाए ॥
My Lord God is found in this way.
ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੩॥
Har Kirapaa Thae Raam Gun Gaaeae ||3||
हरि किरपा ते राम गुण गाए ॥३॥
By the Grace of the Lord, one comes to sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਬਹੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Dhhrig Bahu Jeevan Jith Har Naam N Lagai Piaar ||
ध्रिगु बहु जीवणु जितु हरि नामि न लगै पिआरु ॥
Cursed is that long life, during which love for the Lord's Name is not enshrined.
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਮੋਹ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥
Dhhrig Saej Sukhaalee Kaaman Moh Gubaar ||
ध्रिगु सेज सुखाली कामणि मोह गुबारु ॥
Cursed is that comfortable bed which lures one into the darkness of attachment to sexual desire.
ਤਿਨ ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਜਿਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੪॥
Thin Safal Janam Jin Naam Adhhaar ||4||
तिन सफलु जनमु जिन नामु अधारु ॥४॥
Fruitful is the birth of that person who takes the Support of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Dhhrig Dhhrig Grihu Kuttanb Jith Har Preeth N Hoe ||
ध्रिगु ध्रिगु ग्रिहु कुट्मबु जितु हरि प्रीति न होइ ॥
Cursed, cursed is that home and family, in which the love of the Lord is not embraced.
ਸੋਈ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
Soee Hamaaraa Meeth Jo Har Gun Gaavai Soe ||
सोई हमारा मीतु जो हरि गुण गावै सोइ ॥
He alone is my friend, who sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੫॥
Har Naam Binaa Mai Avar N Koe ||5||
हरि नाम बिना मै अवरु न कोइ ॥५॥
Without the Lord's Name, there is no other for me. ||5||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
Sathigur Thae Ham Gath Path Paaee ||
सतिगुर ते हम गति पति पाई ॥
From the True Guru, I have obtained salvation and honor.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਦੂਖੁ ਸਗਲ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥
Har Naam Dhhiaaeiaa Dhookh Sagal Mittaaee ||
हरि नामु धिआइआ दूखु सगल मिटाई ॥
I have meditated on the Name of the Lord, and all my sufferings have been erased.
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੬॥
Sadhaa Anandh Har Naam Liv Laaee ||6||
सदा अनंदु हरि नामि लिव लाई ॥६॥
I am in constant bliss, lovingly attuned to the Lord's Name. ||6||
ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਸਰੀਰ ਸੁਧਿ ਭਈ ॥
Gur Miliai Ham Ko Sareer Sudhh Bhee ||
गुरि मिलिऐ हम कउ सरीर सुधि भई ॥
Meeting the Guru, I came to understand my body.
ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਭ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਈ ॥
Houmai Thrisanaa Sabh Agan Bujhee ||
हउमै त्रिसना सभ अगनि बुझई ॥
The fires of ego and desire have been totally quenched.
ਬਿਨਸੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਖਿਮਾ ਗਹਿ ਲਈ ॥੭॥
Binasae Krodhh Khimaa Gehi Lee ||7||
बिनसे क्रोध खिमा गहि लई ॥७॥
Anger has been dispelled, and I have grasped hold of tolerance. ||7||
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ॥
Har Aapae Kirapaa Karae Naam Dhaevai ||
हरि आपे क्रिपा करे नामु देवै ॥
The Lord Himself showers His Mercy, and bestows the Naam.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਲੇਵੈ ॥
Guramukh Rathan Ko Viralaa Laevai ||
गुरमुखि रतनु को विरला लेवै ॥
How rare is that Gurmukh, who receives the jewel of the Naam.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵੈ ॥੮॥੮॥
Naanak Gun Gaavai Har Alakh Abhaevai ||8||8||
नानकु गुण गावै हरि अलख अभेवै ॥८॥८॥
O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the Unknowable, the Incomprehensible. ||8||8||

Sathigur Thae Jo Muh Faerae Thae Vaemukh Burae Dhisann ||
सतिगुर ते जो मुह फेरे ते वेमुख बुरे दिसंनि ॥
Those who turn their faces away from the True Guru, are seen to be unfaithful and evil.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਨਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਵੇਲਾ ਨਾ ਲਹੰਨਿ ॥੧॥
Anadhin Badhhae Maareean Fir Vaelaa Naa Lehann ||1||
अनदिनु बधे मारीअनि फिरि वेला ना लहंनि ॥१॥
They shall be bound and beaten night and day; they shall not have this opportunity again. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
Har Har Raakhahu Kirapaa Dhhaar ||
हरि हरि राखहु क्रिपा धारि ॥
O Lord, please shower Your Mercy upon me, and save me!
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sathasangath Maelaae Prabh Har Hiradhai Har Gun Saar ||1|| Rehaao ||
सतसंगति मेलाइ प्रभ हरि हिरदै हरि गुण सारि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
O Lord God, please lead me to meet the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, that I may dwell upon the Glorious Praises of the Lord within my heart. ||1||Pause||
ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵਦੇ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਇ ਚਲੰਨਿ ॥
Sae Bhagath Har Bhaavadhae Jo Guramukh Bhaae Chalann ||
से भगत हरि भावदे जो गुरमुखि भाइ चलंनि ॥
Those devotees are pleasing to the Lord, who as Gurmukh, walk in harmony with the Way of the Lord's Will.
ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨਿ ਜੀਵਤ ਮੁਏ ਰਹੰਨਿ ॥੨॥
Aap Shhodd Saevaa Karan Jeevath Mueae Rehann ||2||
आपु छोडि सेवा करनि जीवत मुए रहंनि ॥२॥
Subduing their selfishness and conceit, and performing selfless service, they remain dead while yet alive. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਪਰਾਣ ਹੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰ ॥
Jis Dhaa Pindd Paraan Hai This Kee Sir Kaar ||
जिस दा पिंडु पराण है तिस की सिरि कार ॥
The body and the breath of life belong to the One - perform the greatest service to Him.
ਓਹੁ ਕਿਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਰਖੀਐ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
Ouhu Kio Manahu Visaareeai Har Rakheeai Hiradhai Dhhaar ||3||
ओहु किउ मनहु विसारीऐ हरि रखीऐ हिरदै धारि ॥३॥
Why forget Him from your mind? Keep the Lord enshrined in your heart. ||3||
ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਮਿ ਮੰਨਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Naam Miliai Path Paaeeai Naam Manniai Sukh Hoe ||
नामि मिलिऐ पति पाईऐ नामि मंनिऐ सुखु होइ ॥
Receiving the Naam, the Name of the Lord, one obtains honor; believing in the Naam, one is at peace.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥

सतिगुर ते नामु पाईऐ करमि मिलै प्रभु सोइ ॥४॥
The Naam is obtained from the True Guru; by His Grace, God is found. ||4||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਮੁਹੁ ਫੇਰੇ ਓਇ ਭ੍ਰਮਦੇ ਨਾ ਟਿਕੰਨਿ ॥
Sathigur Thae Jo Muhu Faerae Oue Bhramadhae Naa Ttikann ||
सतिगुर ते जो मुहु फेरे ओइ भ्रमदे ना टिकंनि ॥
They turn their faces away from the True Guru; they continue to wander aimlessly.
ਧਰਤਿ ਅਸਮਾਨੁ ਨ ਝਲਈ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਪਏ ਪਚੰਨਿ ॥੫॥
Dhharath Asamaan N Jhalee Vich Visattaa Peae Pachann ||5||
धरति असमानु न झलई विचि विसटा पए पचंनि ॥५॥
They are not accepted by the earth or the sky; they fall into manure, and rot. ||5||
ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਠਗਉਲੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
Eihu Jag Bharam Bhulaaeiaa Moh Thagoulee Paae ||
इहु जगु भरमि भुलाइआ मोह ठगउली पाइ ॥
This world is deluded by doubt - it has taken the drug of emotional attachment.
ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਭਿਟੈ ਮਾਇ ॥੬॥

जिना सतिगुरु भेटिआ तिन नेड़ि न भिटै माइ ॥६॥
Maya does not draw near those who have met with the True Guru. ||6||

सतिगुरु सेवनि सो सोहणे हउमै मैलु गवाइ ॥
Those who serve the True Guru are very beautiful; they cast off the filth of selfishness and conceit.
