The Guru who gave me my soul,
ਆਪੁਨਾ ਦਾਸਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਮੁਲਿ ਲੀਉ ॥੬॥
Aapunaa Dhaasaraa Aapae Mul Leeo ||6||
आपुना दासरा आपे मुलि लीउ ॥६॥
Has Himself purchased me, and made me His slave. ||6||
ਆਪੇ ਲਾਇਓ ਅਪਨਾ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Aapae Laaeiou Apanaa Piaar ||
आपे लाइओ अपना पिआरु ॥
He Himself has blessed me with His Love.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਕਰੀ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ॥੭॥
Sadhaa Sadhaa This Gur Ko Karee Namasakaar ||7||
सदा सदा तिसु गुर कउ करी नमसकारु ॥७॥
Forever and ever, I humbly bow to the Guru. ||7||
ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਭੈ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਦੁਖ ਲਾਥਾ ॥
Kal Kalaes Bhai Bhram Dhukh Laathhaa ||
कलि कलेस भै भ्रम दुख लाथा ॥
My troubles, conflicts, fears, doubts and pains have been dispelled;

Naam Binaa Dhhrig Dhhrig Asanaehu ||1|| Rehaao ||
नाम बिना ध्रिगु ध्रिगु असनेहु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, cursed, cursed is love and intimacy. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੋ ਪਹਿਰੈ ਖਾਇ ॥

नाम बिना जो पहिरै खाइ ॥
Without the Naam, one who dresses and eats well
ਜਿਉ ਕੂਕਰੁ ਜੂਠਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
Jio Kookar Joothan Mehi Paae ||1||
जिउ कूकरु जूठन महि पाइ ॥१॥
Is like a dog, who falls in and eats impure foods. ||1||
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੇਤਾ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥
Naam Binaa Jaethaa Biouhaar ||
नाम बिना जेता बिउहारु ॥
Without the Naam, all occupations are useless,
ਜਿਉ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
Jio Mirathak Mithhiaa Seegaar ||2||
जिउ मिरतक मिथिआ सीगारु ॥२॥
Like decorations on a dead body. ||2||
ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ॥
Naam Bisaar Karae Ras Bhog ||
नामु बिसारि करे रस भोग ॥
One who forgets the Naam and indulges in pleasures,
ਸੁਖੁ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਨਹੀ ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਰੋਗ ॥੩॥
Sukh Supanai Nehee Than Mehi Rog ||3||
सुखु सुपनै नही तन महि रोग ॥३॥
Shall find no peace, even in dreams; his body shall become diseased. ||3||
ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕਰੇ ਅਨ ਕਾਜ ॥
Naam Thiaag Karae An Kaaj ||
नामु तिआगि करे अन काज ॥
One who renounces the Naam and engages in other occupations,
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਝੂਠੇ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਜ ॥੪॥
Binas Jaae Jhoothae Sabh Paaj ||4||
बिनसि जाइ झूठे सभि पाज ॥४॥
Shall see all of his false pretenses fall away. ||4||
ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਲਾਵੈ ॥
Naam Sang Man Preeth N Laavai ||
नाम संगि मनि प्रीति न लावै ॥
One whose mind does not embrace love for the Naam
ਕੋਟਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਤੋ ਨਰਕਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੫॥
Kott Karam Karatho Narak Jaavai ||5||
कोटि करम करतो नरकि जावै ॥५॥
Shall go to hell, even though he may perform millions of ceremonial rituals. ||5||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਆਰਾਧਾ ॥
Har Kaa Naam Jin Man N Aaraadhhaa ||
हरि का नामु जिनि मनि न आराधा ॥
One whose mind does not contemplate the Name of the Lord
ਚੋਰ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ॥੬॥
Chor Kee Niaaee Jam Pur Baadhhaa ||6||
चोर की निआई जम पुरि बाधा ॥६॥
Is bound like a thief, in the City of Death. ||6||
ਲਾਖ ਅਡੰਬਰ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਿਸਥਾਰਾ ॥
Laakh Addanbar Bahuth Bisathhaaraa ||
लाख अड्मबर बहुतु बिसथारा ॥
Hundreds of thousands of ostentatious shows and great expanses
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਝੂਠੇ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥੭॥
Naam Binaa Jhoothae Paasaaraa ||7||
नाम बिना झूठे पासारा ॥७॥
- without the Naam, all these displays are false. ||7||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਲੇਇ ॥
Har Kaa Naam Soee Jan Laee ||
हरि का नामु सोई जनु लेइ ॥
That humble being repeats the Name of the Lord,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਇ ॥੮॥੧੦॥

करि किरपा नानक जिसु देइ ॥८॥१०॥
O Nanak, whom the Lord blesses with His Mercy. ||8||10||

जह पेखा तह रहिआ समाइ ॥२॥

सुंदरु सुघड़ु चतुरु जीअ दाता ॥
He is Beautiful, All-knowing, the most Clever, the Giver of life.

भाई पूतु पिता प्रभु माता ॥३॥
God is my Brother, Son, Father and Mother. ||3||
ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
Jeevan Praan Adhhaar Maeree Raas ||
जीवन प्रान अधार मेरी रासि ॥
He is the Support of the breath of life; He is my Wealth.
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਕਰਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਿਵਾਸਿ ॥੪॥
Preeth Laaee Kar Ridhai Nivaas ||4||
प्रीति लाई करि रिदै निवासि ॥४॥
Abiding within my heart, He inspires me to enshrine love for Him. ||4||
ਮਾਇਆ ਸਿਲਕ ਕਾਟੀ ਗੋਪਾਲਿ ॥

माइआ सिलक काटी गोपालि ॥
The Lord of the World has cut away the noose of Maya.
ਕਰਿ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਲੀਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥੫॥

करि अपुना लीनो नदरि निहालि ॥५॥
He has made me His own, blessing me with His Glance of Grace. ||5||
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਕਾਟੇ ਸਭਿ ਰੋਗ ॥
Simar Simar Kaattae Sabh Rog ||
सिमरि सिमरि काटे सभि रोग ॥
Remembering, remembering Him in meditation, all diseases are healed.
ਚਰਣ ਧਿਆਨ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਭੋਗ ॥੬॥
Charan Dhhiaan Sarab Sukh Bhog ||6||
चरण धिआन सरब सुख भोग ॥६॥
Meditating on His Feet, all comforts are enjoyed. ||6||
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਵਤਨੁ ਨਿਤ ਬਾਲਾ ॥
Pooran Purakh Navathan Nith Baalaa ||
पूरन पुरखु नवतनु नित बाला ॥
The Perfect Primal Lord is Ever-fresh and Ever-young.
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥੭॥
Har Anthar Baahar Sang Rakhavaalaa ||7||
हरि अंतरि बाहरि संगि रखवाला ॥७॥
The Lord is with me, inwardly and outwardly, as my Protector. ||7||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਦੁ ਚੀਨ ॥
