सुणि नाह प्रभू जीउ एकलड़ी बन माहे ॥
Hear me, O my Dear Husband God - I am all alone in the wilderness.
ਕਿਉ ਧੀਰੈਗੀ ਨਾਹ ਬਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੇ ॥
Kio Dhheeraigee Naah Binaa Prabh Vaeparavaahae ||
किउ धीरैगी नाह बिना प्रभ वेपरवाहे ॥
How can I find comfort without You, O my Carefree Husband God?
ਧਨ ਨਾਹ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਬਿਖਮ ਰੈਣਿ ਘਣੇਰੀਆ ॥
Dhhan Naah Baajhahu Rehi N Saakai Bikham Rain Ghanaereeaa ||
धन नाह बाझहु रहि न साकै बिखम रैणि घणेरीआ ॥
The soul-bride cannot live without her Husband; the night is so painful for her.
ਨਹ ਨੀਦ ਆਵੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੁਣਿ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਮੇਰੀਆ ॥
Neh Needh Aavai Praem Bhaavai Sun Baenanthee Maereeaa ||
नह नीद आवै प्रेमु भावै सुणि बेनंती मेरीआ ॥
Sleep does not come. I am in love with my Beloved. Please, listen to my prayer!
ਬਾਝਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਾਰੇ ਏਕਲੜੀ ਕੁਰਲਾਏ ॥

बाझहु पिआरे कोइ न सारे एकलड़ी कुरलाए ॥
Other than my Beloved, no one cares for me; I cry all alone in the wilderness.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
Naanak Saa Dhhan Milai Milaaee Bin Preetham Dhukh Paaeae ||1||
नानक सा धन मिलै मिलाई बिनु प्रीतम दुखु पाए ॥१॥
O Nanak, the bride meets Him when He causes her to meet Him; without her Beloved, she suffers in pain. ||1||
ਪਿਰਿ ਛੋਡਿਅੜੀ ਜੀਉ ਕਵਣੁ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ॥

पिरि छोडिअड़ी जीउ कवणु मिलावै ॥
She is separated from her Husband Lord - who can unite her with Him?
ਰਸਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ॥
Ras Praem Milee Jeeo Sabadh Suhaavai ||
रसि प्रेमि मिली जीउ सबदि सुहावै ॥
Tasting His Love, she meets Him, through the Beautiful Word of His Shabad.
ਸਬਦੇ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਦੀਪਕ ਦੇਹ ਉਜਾਰੈ ॥
Sabadhae Suhaavai Thaa Path Paavai Dheepak Dhaeh Oujaarai ||
सबदे सुहावै ता पति पावै दीपक देह उजारै ॥
Adorned with the Shabad, she obtains her Husband, and her body is illuminated with the lamp of spiritual wisdom.
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਸਾਚਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੈ ॥
Sun Sakhee Sehaelee Saach Suhaelee Saachae Kae Gun Saarai ||
सुणि सखी सहेली साचि सुहेली साचे के गुण सारै ॥
Listen, O my friends and companions - she who is at peace dwells upon the True Lord and His True Praises.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲੀ ਤਾ ਪਿਰਿ ਰਾਵੀ ਬਿਗਸੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
Sathigur Maelee Thaa Pir Raavee Bigasee Anmrith Baanee ||
सतिगुरि मेली ता पिरि रावी बिगसी अम्रित बाणी ॥
Meeting the True Guru, she is ravished and enjoyed by her Husband Lord; she blossoms forth with the Ambrosial Word of His Bani.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਤਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੇ ਜਾ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੀ ॥੨॥

नानक सा धन ता पिरु रावे जा तिस कै मनि भाणी ॥२॥
O Nanak, the Husband Lord enjoys His bride when she is pleasing to His Mind. ||2||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਨੀਘਰੀਆ ਜੀਉ ਕੂੜਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੇ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohanee Neeghareeaa Jeeo Koorr Muthee Koorriaarae ||
माइआ मोहणी नीघरीआ जीउ कूड़ि मुठी कूड़िआरे ॥
Fascination with Maya made her homeless; the false are cheated by falsehood.
ਕਿਉ ਖੂਲੈ ਗਲ ਜੇਵੜੀਆ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਅਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
Kio Khoolai Gal Jaevarreeaa Jeeo Bin Gur Ath Piaarae ||
किउ खूलै गल जेवड़ीआ जीउ बिनु गुर अति पिआरे ॥
How can the noose around her neck be untied, without the Most Beloved Guru?
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕਾ ਸੋ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
Har Preeth Piaarae Sabadh Veechaarae This Hee Kaa So Hovai ||
हरि प्रीति पिआरे सबदि वीचारे तिस ही का सो होवै ॥
One who loves the Beloved Lord, and reflects upon the Shabad, belongs to Him.
ਪੁੰਨ ਦਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਨਾਵਣ ਕਿਉ ਅੰਤਰ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਵੈ ॥
Punn Dhaan Anaek Naavan Kio Anthar Mal Dhhovai ||
पुंन दान अनेक नावण किउ अंतर मलु धोवै ॥
How can giving donations to charities and countless cleansing baths wash off the filth within the heart?
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਗਤਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਹਠਿ ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਬੇਬਾਣੈ ॥
Naam Binaa Gath Koe N Paavai Hath Nigrehi Baebaanai ||
नाम बिना गति कोइ न पावै हठि निग्रहि बेबाणै ॥
Without the Naam, no one attains salvation. Stubborn self-discipline and living in the wilderness are of no use at all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚ ਘਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਿਞਾਪੈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਕਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥੩॥

नानक सच घरु सबदि सिञापै दुबिधा महलु कि जाणै ॥३॥
O Nanak, the home of Truth is attained through the Shabad. How can the Mansion of His Presence be known through duality? ||3||

तेरा नामु सचा जीउ सबदु सचा वीचारो ॥
True is Your Name, O Dear Lord; True is contemplation of Your Shabad.
ਤੇਰਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਸਚਾ ਜੀਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੋ ॥
Thaeraa Mehal Sachaa Jeeo Naam Sachaa Vaapaaro ||
तेरा महलु सचा जीउ नामु सचा वापारो ॥
True is the Mansion of Your Presence, O Dear Lord, and True is trade in Your Name.
ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੋ ॥
Naam Kaa Vaapaar Meethaa Bhagath Laahaa Anadhino ||
नाम का वापारु मीठा भगति लाहा अनदिनो ॥
Trade in Your Name is very sweet; the devotees earn this profit night and day.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਾਝੁ ਵਖਰੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੋ ॥
This Baajh Vakhar Koe N Soojhai Naam Laevahu Khin Khino ||
तिसु बाझु वखरु कोइ न सूझै नामु लेवहु खिनु खिनो ॥
Other than this, I can think of no other merchandise. So chant the Naam each and every moment.
ਪਰਖਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਕਰਮਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Parakh Laekhaa Nadhar Saachee Karam Poorai Paaeiaa ||
परखि लेखा नदरि साची करमि पूरै पाइआ ॥
The account is read; by the Grace of the True Lord and good karma, the Perfect Lord is obtained.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥

नानक नामु महा रसु मीठा गुरि पूरै सचु पाइआ ॥४॥२॥

Ik Oankaar Sathinaam Karathaa Purakh Guraprasaadh ||
ੴ सतिनामु करता पुरखु गुरप्रसादि ॥
One Universal Creator God. Truth Is The Name. Creative Being Personified. By Guru's Grace:
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰੇ ਜੀਉ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੇ ॥
Saa Dhhan Bino Karae Jeeo Har Kae Gun Saarae ||
सा धन बिनउ करे जीउ हरि के गुण सारे ॥
The soul-bride offers her prayers to her Dear Lord; she dwells upon His Glorious Virtues.
ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
Khin Pal Rehi N Sakai Jeeo Bin Har Piaarae ||
खिनु पलु रहि न सकै जीउ बिनु हरि पिआरे ॥
She cannot live without her Beloved Lord, for a moment, even for an instant.
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
Bin Har Piaarae Rehi N Saakai Gur Bin Mehal N Paaeeai ||
बिनु हरि पिआरे रहि न साकै गुर बिनु महलु न पाईऐ ॥
She cannot live without her Beloved Lord; without the Guru, the Mansion of His Presence is not found.
ਜੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਹੈ ਸੋਈ ਪਰੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਤਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਈਐ ॥
Jo Gur Kehai Soee Par Keejai Thisanaa Agan Bujhaaeeai ||
जो गुरु कहै सोई परु कीजै तिसना अगनि बुझाईऐ ॥
Whatever the Guru says, she should surely do, to extinguish the fire of desire.
ਹਰਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
Har Saachaa Soee This Bin Avar N Koee Bin Saeviai Sukh N Paaeae ||
हरि साचा सोई तिसु बिनु अवरु न कोई बिनु सेविऐ सुखु न पाए ॥
The Lord is True; there is no one except Him. Without serving Him, peace is not found.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੧॥

नानक सा धन मिलै मिलाई जिस नो आपि मिलाए ॥१॥
O Nanak, that soul-bride, whom the Lord Himself unites, is united with Him; He Himself merges with her. ||1||
ਧਨ ਰੈਣਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੜੀਏ ਜੀਉ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥

धन रैणि सुहेलड़ीए जीउ हरि सिउ चितु लाए ॥
The life-night of the soul-bride is blessed and joyful, when she focuses her consciousness on her Dear Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਭਾਉ ਕਰੇ ਜੀਉ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
Sathigur Saevae Bhaao Karae Jeeo Vichahu Aap Gavaaeae ||
सतिगुरु सेवे भाउ करे जीउ विचहु आपु गवाए ॥
She serves the True Guru with love; she eradicates selfishness from within.
ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਭਾਓ ॥
Vichahu Aap Gavaaeae Har Gun Gaaeae Anadhin Laagaa Bhaaou ||
विचहु आपु गवाए हरि गुण गाए अनदिनु लागा भाओ ॥
Eradicating selfishness and conceit from within, and singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, she is in love with the Lord, night and day.
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਮੇਲੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਓ ॥

सुणि सखी सहेली जीअ की मेली गुर कै सबदि समाओ ॥
