ਤੂ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
Thoo Sukhadhaathaa Laihi Milaae ||
तू सुखदाता लैहि मिलाइ ॥
You are the Giver of peace; You merge them into Yourself.
ਏਕਸ ਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
Eaekas Thae Dhoojaa Naahee Koe ||
एकस ते दूजा नाही कोइ ॥
Everything comes from the One and only Lord; there is no other at all.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੯॥
Guramukh Boojhai Sojhee Hoe ||9||
गुरमुखि बूझै सोझी होइ ॥९॥
The Gurmukh realizes this, and understands. ||9||
ਪੰਦ੍ਰਹ ਥਿਤੀ ਤੈ ਸਤ ਵਾਰ ॥
Pandhreh Thhithanaee Thai Sath Vaar ||
पंद्रह थितीं तै सत वार ॥
The fifteen lunar days, the seven days of the week,
ਮਾਹਾ ਰੁਤੀ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਾਰ ਵਾਰ ॥
Maahaa Ruthee Aavehi Vaar Vaar ||
माहा रुती आवहि वार वार ॥
The months, seasons, days and nights, come over and over again;
ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਤਿਵੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
Dhinas Rain Thivai Sansaar ||
दिनसु रैणि तिवै संसारु ॥
So the world goes on.
ਆਵਾ ਗਉਣੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥
Aavaa Goun Keeaa Karathaar ||
आवा गउणु कीआ करतारि ॥
Coming and going were created by the Creator Lord.
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਕਲ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
Nihachal Saach Rehiaa Kal Dhhaar ||
निहचलु साचु रहिआ कल धारि ॥
The True Lord remains steady and stable, by His almighty power.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧੦॥੧॥
Naanak Guramukh Boojhai Ko Sabadh Veechaar ||10||1||
नानक गुरमुखि बूझै को सबदु वीचारि ॥१०॥१॥
O Nanak, how rare is that Gurmukh who understands, and contemplates the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||10||1||

ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਆਪੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੇ ॥
Aadh Purakh Aapae Srisatt Saajae ||
आदि पुरखु आपे स्रिसटि साजे ॥
The Primal Lord Himself formed the Universe.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਾਜੇ ॥
Jeea Janth Maaeiaa Mohi Paajae ||
जीअ जंत माइआ मोहि पाजे ॥
The beings and creatures are engrossed in emotional attachment to Maya.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਰਪੰਚਿ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
Dhoojai Bhaae Parapanch Laagae ||
दूजै भाइ परपंचि लागे ॥
In the love of duality, they are attached to the illusory material world.
ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥
Aavehi Jaavehi Marehi Abhaagae ||
आवहि जावहि मरहि अभागे ॥
The unfortunate ones die, and continue to come and go.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਭੇਟਿਐ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
Sathigur Bhaettiai Sojhee Paae ||
सतिगुरि भेटिऐ सोझी पाइ ॥
Meeting with the True Guru, understanding is obtained.
ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਚੂਕੈ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
Parapanch Chookai Sach Samaae ||1||
परपंचु चूकै सचि समाइ ॥१॥
Then, the illusion of the material world is shattered, and one merges in Truth. ||1||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲੇਖੁ ॥
Jaa Kai Masathak Likhiaa Laekh ||
जा कै मसतकि लिखिआ लेखु ॥
One who has such pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon his forehead
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ता कै मनि वसिआ प्रभु एकु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
- the One God abides within his mind. ||1||Pause||
ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਆਪੇ ਸਭੁ ਵੇਖੈ ॥
Srisatt Oupaae Aapae Sabh Vaekhai ||
स्रिसटि उपाइ आपे सभु वेखै ॥
He created the Universe, and He Himself beholds all.
ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਲੇਖੈ ॥
Koe N Maettai Thaerai Laekhai ||
कोइ न मेटै तेरै लेखै ॥
No one can erase Your record, Lord.
ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਕਹਾਏ ॥
Sidhh Saadhhik Jae Ko Kehai Kehaaeae ||
सिध साधिक जे को कहै कहाए ॥
If someone calls himself a Siddha or a seeker,
ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥
Bharamae Bhoolaa Aavai Jaaeae ||
भरमे भूला आवै जाए ॥
He is deluded by doubt, and will continue coming and going.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
Sathigur Saevai So Jan Boojhai ||
सतिगुरु सेवै सो जनु बूझै ॥
That humble being alone understands, who serves the True Guru.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਾ ਦਰੁ ਸੂਝੈ ॥੨॥
Houmai Maarae Thaa Dhar Soojhai ||2||
हउमै मारे ता दरु सूझै ॥२॥
Conquering his ego, he finds the Lord's Door. ||2||
ਏਕਸੁ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੂਆ ॥
Eaekas Thae Sabh Dhoojaa Hooaa ||
एकसु ते सभु दूजा हूआ ॥
From the One Lord, all others were formed.
ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਬੀਆ ॥
Eaeko Varathai Avar N Beeaa ||
एको वरतै अवरु न बीआ ॥
The One Lord is pervading everywhere; there is no other at all.
ਦੂਜੇ ਤੇ ਜੇ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
Dhoojae Thae Jae Eaeko Jaanai ||
दूजे ते जे एको जाणै ॥
Renouncing duality, one comes to know the One Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੈ ॥
Gur Kai Sabadh Har Dhar Neesaanai ||
गुर कै सबदि हरि दरि नीसाणै ॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one knows the Lord's Door, and His Banner.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਤਾ ਏਕੋ ਪਾਏ ॥
Sathigur Bhaettae Thaa Eaeko Paaeae ||
सतिगुरु भेटे ता एको पाए ॥
Meeting the True Guru, one finds the One Lord.
ਵਿਚਹੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਏ ॥੩॥
Vichahu Dhoojaa Thaak Rehaaeae ||3||
विचहु दूजा ठाकि रहाए ॥३॥
Duality is subdued within. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਡਾਢਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Jis Dhaa Saahib Ddaadtaa Hoe ||
जिस दा साहिबु डाढा होइ ॥
One who belongs to the All-powerful Lord and Master
ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਮਾਰਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
This No Maar N Saakai Koe ||
तिस नो मारि न साकै कोइ ॥
No one can destroy him.
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਰਹੈ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
Saahib Kee Saevak Rehai Saranaaee ||
साहिब की सेवकु रहै सरणाई ॥
The Lord's servant remains under His protection;
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Aapae Bakhasae Dhae Vaddiaaee ||
आपे बखसे दे वडिआई ॥
The Lord Himself forgives him, and blesses him with glorious greatness.
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
This Thae Oopar Naahee Koe ||
तिस ते ऊपरि नाही कोइ ॥
There is none higher than Him.
ਕਉਣੁ ਡਰੈ ਡਰੁ ਕਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥
Koun Ddarai Ddar Kis Kaa Hoe ||4||
कउणु डरै डरु किस का होइ ॥४॥
Why should he be afraid? What should he ever fear? ||4||
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਰੀਰ ॥
Guramathee Saanth Vasai Sareer ||
गुरमती सांति वसै सरीर ॥
Through the Guru's Teachings, peace and tranquility abide within the body.
ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਪੀਰ ॥
Sabadh Cheenih Fir Lagai N Peer ||
सबदु चीन्हि फिरि लगै न पीर ॥
Remember the Word of the Shabad, and you shall never suffer pain.
ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਨਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
Aavai N Jaae Naa Dhukh Paaeae ||
आवै न जाइ ना दुखु पाए ॥
You shall not have to come or go, or suffer in sorrow.
ਨਾਮੇ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
Naamae Raathae Sehaj Samaaeae ||
नामे राते सहजि समाए ॥
Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you shall merge in celestial peace.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
Naanak Guramukh Vaekhai Hadhoor ||
नानक गुरमुखि वेखै हदूरि ॥
O Nanak, the Gurmukh beholds Him ever-present, close at hand.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੫॥
Maeraa Prabh Sadh Rehiaa Bharapoor ||5||
मेरा प्रभु सद रहिआ भरपूरि ॥५॥
My God is always fully pervading everywhere. ||5||
ਇਕਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਇਕਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ॥
Eik Saevak Eik Bharam Bhulaaeae ||
इकि सेवक इकि भरमि भुलाए ॥
Some are selfless servants, while others wander, deluded by doubt.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
Aapae Karae Har Aap Karaaeae ||
आपे करे हरि आपि कराए ॥
The Lord Himself does, and causes everything to be done.
ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
Eaeko Varathai Avar N Koe ||
एको वरतै अवरु न कोइ ॥
The One Lord is all-pervading; there is no other at all.
ਮਨਿ ਰੋਸੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਜੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Man Ros Keejai Jae Dhoojaa Hoe ||
मनि रोसु कीजै जे दूजा होइ ॥
The mortal might complain, if there were any other.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
Sathigur Saevae Karanee Saaree ||
सतिगुरु सेवे करणी सारी ॥
Serve the True Guru; this is the most excellent action.
ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੬॥
Dhar Saachai Saachae Veechaaree ||6||
दरि साचै साचे वीचारी ॥६॥
In the Court of the True Lord, you shall be judged true. ||6||
ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਸਭਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥
Thhithee Vaar Sabh Sabadh Suhaaeae ||
थिती वार सभि सबदि सुहाए ॥
All the lunar days, and the days of the week are beautiful, when one contemplates the Shabad.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
Sathigur Saevae Thaa Fal Paaeae ||
सतिगुरु सेवे ता फलु पाए ॥
If one serves the True Guru, he obtains the fruits of his rewards.
ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਸਭਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
Thhithee Vaar Sabh Aavehi Jaahi ||
थिती वार सभि आवहि जाहि ॥
The omens and days all come and go.
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
Gur Sabadh Nihachal Sadhaa Sach Samaahi ||
गुर सबदु निहचलु सदा सचि समाहि ॥
But the Word of the Guru's Shabad is eternal and unchanging. Through it, one merges in the True Lord.
ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
Thhithee Vaar Thaa Jaa Sach Raathae ||
थिती वार ता जा सचि राते ॥
The days are auspicious, when one is imbued with Truth.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭਿ ਭਰਮਹਿ ਕਾਚੇ ॥੭॥
Bin Naavai Sabh Bharamehi Kaachae ||7||
बिनु नावै सभि भरमहि काचे ॥७॥
Without the Name, all the false ones wander deluded. ||7||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਰਹਿ ਮਰਿ ਬਿਗਤੀ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
Manamukh Marehi Mar Bigathee Jaahi ||
मनमुख मरहि मरि बिगती जाहि ॥
The self-willed manmukhs die, and dead, they fall into the most evil state.
ਏਕੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲੋਭਾਹਿ ॥
Eaek N Chaethehi Dhoojai Lobhaahi ||
एकु न चेतहि दूजै लोभाहि ॥
They do not remember the One Lord; they are deluded by duality.
ਅਚੇਤ ਪਿੰਡੀ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥
Achaeth Pinddee Agiaan Andhhaar ||
अचेत पिंडी अगिआन अंधारु ॥
The human body is unconscious, ignorant and blind.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਏ ਪਾਰੁ ॥
Bin Sabadhai Kio Paaeae Paar ||
बिनु सबदै किउ पाए पारु ॥
Without the Word of the Shabad, how can anyone cross over?
ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਉਪਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
Aap Oupaaeae Oupaavanehaar ||
आपि उपाए उपावणहारु ॥
The Creator Himself creates.
ਆਪੇ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੮॥
Aapae Keethon Gur Veechaar ||8||
आपे कीतोनु गुर वीचारु ॥८॥
He Himself contemplates the Guru's Word. ||8||
ਬਹੁਤੇ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ॥
Bahuthae Bhaekh Karehi Bhaekhadhhaaree ||
बहुते भेख करहि भेखधारी ॥
The religious fanatics wear all sorts of religious robes.
ਭਵਿ ਭਵਿ ਭਰਮਹਿ ਕਾਚੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
Bhav Bhav Bharamehi Kaachee Saaree ||
भवि भवि भरमहि काची सारी ॥
They roll around and wander around, like the false dice on the board.
ਐਥੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਆਗੈ ਹੋਇ ॥
Aithhai Sukh N Aagai Hoe ||
ऐथै सुखु न आगै होइ ॥
They find no peace, here or hereafter.
