जुग चारे सभ भवि थकी किनि कीमति होई ॥
All have grown weary of wandering throughout the four ages, but none know the Lord's worth.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਵਿਖਾਲਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
Sathigur Eaek Vikhaaliaa Man Than Sukh Hoee ||
सतिगुरि एकु विखालिआ मनि तनि सुखु होई ॥
The True Guru has shown me the One Lord, and my mind and body are at peace.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥੭॥
Guramukh Sadhaa Salaaheeai Karathaa Karae S Hoee ||7||
गुरमुखि सदा सलाहीऐ करता करे सु होई ॥७॥
The Gurmukh praises the Lord forever; that alone happens, which the Creator Lord does. ||7||

ਜਿਨਾ ਭਉ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਨਾਹਿ ਭਉ ਮੁਚੁ ਭਉ ਨਿਭਵਿਆਹ ॥
Jinaa Bho Thinh Naahi Bho Much Bho Nibhaviaah ||
जिना भउ तिन्ह नाहि भउ मुचु भउ निभविआह ॥
Those who have the Fear of God, have no other fears; those who do not have the Fear of God, are very afraid.
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਹੁ ਪਟੰਤਰਾ ਤਿਤੁ ਦੀਬਾਣਿ ਗਇਆਹ ॥੧॥
Naanak Eaehu Pattantharaa Thith Dheebaan Gaeiaah ||1||
नानक एहु पटंतरा तितु दीबाणि गइआह ॥१॥
O Nanak, this mystery is revealed at the Court of the Lord. ||1||

ਤੁਰਦੇ ਕਉ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਉਡਤੇ ਕਉ ਉਡਤਾ ॥
Thuradhae Ko Thuradhaa Milai Ouddathae Ko Ouddathaa ||
तुरदे कउ तुरदा मिलै उडते कउ उडता ॥
That which flows, mingles with that which flows; that which blows, mingles with that which blows.
ਜੀਵਤੇ ਕਉ ਜੀਵਤਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੂਏ ਕਉ ਮੂਆ ॥
Jeevathae Ko Jeevathaa Milai Mooeae Ko Mooaa ||
जीवते कउ जीवता मिलै मूए कउ मूआ ॥
The living mingle with the living, and the dead mingle with the dead.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕੀਆ ॥੨॥
Naanak So Saalaaheeai Jin Kaaran Keeaa ||2||
नानक सो सालाहीऐ जिनि कारणु कीआ ॥२॥
O Nanak, praise the One who created the creation. ||2||

ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਸੇ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
Sach Dhhiaaein Sae Sachae Gur Sabadh Veechaaree ||
सचु धिआइनि से सचे गुर सबदि वीचारी ॥
Those who meditate on the True Lord are true; they contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
Houmai Maar Man Niramalaa Har Naam Our Dhhaaree ||
हउमै मारि मनु निरमला हरि नामु उरि धारी ॥
They subdue their ego, purify their minds, and enshrine the Lord's Name within their hearts.
ਕੋਠੇ ਮੰਡਪ ਮਾੜੀਆ ਲਗਿ ਪਏ ਗਾਵਾਰੀ ॥
Kothae Manddap Maarreeaa Lag Peae Gaavaaree ||
कोठे मंडप माड़ीआ लगि पए गावारी ॥
The fools are attached to their homes, mansions and balconies.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਕੀਏ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਬਾਰੀ ॥
Jinih Keeeae Thisehi N Jaananee Manamukh Gubaaree ||
जिन्हि कीए तिसहि न जाणनी मनमुखि गुबारी ॥
The self-willed manmukhs are caught in darkness; they do not know the One who created them.
ਜਿਸੁ ਬੁਝਾਇਹਿ ਸੋ ਬੁਝਸੀ ਸਚਿਆ ਕਿਆ ਜੰਤ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ ॥੮॥
Jis Bujhaaeihi So Bujhasee Sachiaa Kiaa Janth Vichaaree ||8||
जिसु बुझाइहि सो बुझसी सचिआ किआ जंत विचारी ॥८॥
He alone understands, whom the True Lord causes to understand; what can the helpless creatures do? ||8||

ਕਾਮਣਿ ਤਉ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕੰਤੁ ਮਨਾਇ ॥
Kaaman Tho Seegaar Kar Jaa Pehilaan Kanth Manaae ||
कामणि तउ सीगारु करि जा पहिलां कंतु मनाइ ॥
O bride, decorate yourself, after you surrender and accept your Husband Lord.
ਮਤੁ ਸੇਜੈ ਕੰਤੁ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਏਵੈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
Math Saejai Kanth N Aavee Eaevai Birathhaa Jaae ||
मतु सेजै कंतु न आवई एवै बिरथा जाइ ॥
Otherwise, your Husband Lord will not come to your bed, and your ornaments will be useless.
ਕਾਮਣਿ ਪਿਰ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਤਉ ਬਣਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
Kaaman Pir Man Maaniaa Tho Baniaa Seegaar ||
कामणि पिर मनु मानिआ तउ बणिआ सीगारु ॥
O bride, your decorations will adorn you, only when your Husband Lord's Mind is pleased.
ਕੀਆ ਤਉ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਜਾ ਸਹੁ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Keeaa Tho Paravaan Hai Jaa Sahu Dhharae Piaar ||
कीआ तउ परवाणु है जा सहु धरे पिआरु ॥
Your ornaments will be acceptable and approved, only when your Husband Lord loves you.
ਭਉ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਤਬੋਲ ਰਸੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਭਾਉ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
Bho Seegaar Thabol Ras Bhojan Bhaao Karaee ||
भउ सीगारु तबोल रसु भोजनु भाउ करेइ ॥
So make the Fear of God your ornaments, joy your betel nuts to chew, and love your food.
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਉਪੇ ਕੰਤ ਕਉ ਤਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਭੋਗੁ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੧॥
Than Man Soupae Kanth Ko Tho Naanak Bhog Karaee ||1||
तनु मनु सउपे कंत कउ तउ नानक भोगु करेइ ॥१॥
Surrender your body and mind to your Husband Lord, and then, O Nanak, He will enjoy you. ||1||

ਕਾਜਲ ਫੂਲ ਤੰਬੋਲ ਰਸੁ ਲੇ ਧਨ ਕੀਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
Kaajal Fool Thanbol Ras Lae Dhhan Keeaa Seegaar ||
काजल फूल त्मबोल रसु ले धन कीआ सीगारु ॥
The wife takes flowers, and fragrance of betel, and decorates herself.
ਸੇਜੈ ਕੰਤੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਏਵੈ ਭਇਆ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
Saejai Kanth N Aaeiou Eaevai Bhaeiaa Vikaar ||2||
सेजै कंतु न आइओ एवै भइआ विकारु ॥२॥
But her Husband Lord does not come to her bed, and so these efforts are useless. ||2||

Third Mehl:
ਧਨ ਪਿਰੁ ਏਹਿ ਨ ਆਖੀਅਨਿ ਬਹਨਿ ਇਕਠੇ ਹੋਇ ॥
Dhhan Pir Eaehi N Aakheean Behan Eikathae Hoe ||
धन पिरु एहि न आखीअनि बहनि इकठे होइ ॥
They are not said to be husband and wife, who merely sit together.
ਏਕ ਜੋਤਿ ਦੁਇ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਧਨ ਪਿਰੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
Eaek Joth Dhue Moorathee Dhhan Pir Keheeai Soe ||3||
एक जोति दुइ मूरती धन पिरु कहीऐ सोइ ॥३॥
They alone are called husband and wife, who have one light in two bodies. ||3||

ਭੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Bhai Bin Bhagath N Hovee Naam N Lagai Piaar ||
भै बिनु भगति न होवई नामि न लगै पिआरु ॥
Without the Fear of God, there is no devotional worship, and no love for the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਭਉ ਊਪਜੈ ਭੈ ਭਾਇ ਰੰਗੁ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
Sathigur Miliai Bho Oopajai Bhai Bhaae Rang Savaar ||
सतिगुरि मिलिऐ भउ ऊपजै भै भाइ रंगु सवारि ॥
Meeting with the True Guru, the Fear of God wells up, and one is embellished with the Fear and the Love of God.
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਾਰਿ ॥
Than Man Rathaa Rang Sio Houmai Thrisanaa Maar ||
तनु मनु रता रंग सिउ हउमै त्रिसना मारि ॥
When the body and mind are imbued with the Lord's Love, egotism and desire are conquered and subdued.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਅਤਿ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥
Man Than Niramal Ath Sohanaa Bhaettiaa Kirasan Muraar ||
मनु तनु निरमलु अति सोहणा भेटिआ क्रिसन मुरारि ॥
The mind and body become immaculately pure and very beautiful, when one meets the Lord, the Destroyer of ego.
ਭਉ ਭਾਉ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥੯॥
Bho Bhaao Sabh This Dhaa So Sach Varathai Sansaar ||9||
भउ भाउ सभु तिस दा सो सचु वरतै संसारि ॥९॥
Fear and love all belong to Him; He is the True Lord, permeating and pervading the Universe. ||9||

Vaahu Khasam Thoo Vaahu Jin Rach Rachanaa Ham Keeeae ||
वाहु खसम तू वाहु जिनि रचि रचना हम कीए ॥
Waaho! Waaho! You are wonderful and great, O Lord and Master; You created the creation, and made us.
ਸਾਗਰ ਲਹਰਿ ਸਮੁੰਦ ਸਰ ਵੇਲਿ ਵਰਸ ਵਰਾਹੁ ॥
Saagar Lehar Samundh Sar Vael Varas Varaahu ||
सागर लहरि समुंद सर वेलि वरस वराहु ॥
You made the waters, waves, oceans, pools, plants, clouds and mountains.
ਆਪਿ ਖੜੋਵਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਿ ਆਪੀਣੈ ਆਪਾਹੁ ॥
Aap Kharrovehi Aap Kar Aapeenai Aapaahu ||
आपि खड़ोवहि आपि करि आपीणै आपाहु ॥
You Yourself stand in the midst of what You Yourself created.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਥਾਇ ਪਵੈ ਉਨਮਨਿ ਤਤੁ ਕਮਾਹੁ ॥
Guramukh Saevaa Thhaae Pavai Ounaman Thath Kamaahu ||
गुरमुखि सेवा थाइ पवै उनमनि ततु कमाहु ॥
The selfless service of the Gurmukhs is approved; in celestial peace, they live the essence of reality.
ਮਸਕਤਿ ਲਹਹੁ ਮਜੂਰੀਆ ਮੰਗਿ ਮੰਗਿ ਖਸਮ ਦਰਾਹੁ ॥
Masakath Lehahu Majooreeaa Mang Mang Khasam Dharaahu ||
मसकति लहहु मजूरीआ मंगि मंगि खसम दराहु ॥
They receive the wages of their labor, begging at the Door of their Lord and Master.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੁਰ ਦਰ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਤਉ ਦਰਿ ਊਣਾ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋ ਸਚਾ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ॥੧॥
Naanak Pur Dhar Vaeparavaah Tho Dhar Oonaa Naahi Ko Sachaa Vaeparavaahu ||1||
नानक पुर दर वेपरवाह तउ दरि ऊणा नाहि को सचा वेपरवाहु ॥१॥
O Nanak, the Court of the Lord is overflowing and carefree; O my True Carefree Lord, no one returns empty-handed from Your Court. ||1||

ਉਜਲ ਮੋਤੀ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਰਤਨਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਜੁੜੰਨਿ ॥

उजल मोती सोहणे रतना नालि जुड़ंनि ॥
The teeth are like brilliant, beautiful pearls, and the eyes are like sparkling jewels.
ਤਿਨ ਜਰੁ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿ ਬੁਢੇ ਥੀਇ ਮਰੰਨਿ ॥੨॥
Thin Jar Vairee Naanakaa J Budtae Thheee Marann ||2||
तिन जरु वैरी नानका जि बुढे थीइ मरंनि ॥२॥
Old age is their enemy, O Nanak; when they grow old, they waste away. ||2||
