O Enticing Lord, I cannot sleep; I sigh. I am adorned with necklaces, gowns, ornaments and make-up.

I am sad, sad and depressed.

I seek the Sanctuary of the happy soul-brides; I place my head upon their feet.

लालनु मोहि मिलावहु ॥
Unite me with my Beloved.

When will He come to my home? ||1||
ਸੁਨਹੁ ਸਹੇਰੀ ਮਿਲਨ ਬਾਤ ਕਹਉ ॥

सुनहु सहेरी मिलन बात कहउ
Listen, my companions: tell me how to meet Him. Eradicate all egotism,
ਸਗਰੋ ਅਹੰ ਮਿਟਾਵਹੁ ਤਉ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਲਾਲਨੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥
Sagaro Ahan Mittaavahu Tho Ghar Hee Laalan Paavahu ||
सगरो अहं मिटावहु तउ घर ही लालनु पावहु ॥
And then you shall find your Beloved Lord within the home of your heart.
ਤਬ ਰਸ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹੁ ॥
Thab Ras Mangal Gun Gaavahu ||
तब रस मंगल गुन गावहु ॥
Then, in delight, you shall sing the songs of joy and praise.
ਆਨਦ ਰੂਪ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ॥
Aanadh Roop Dhhiaavahu ||
आनद रूप धिआवहु ॥
Meditate on the Lord, the embodiment of bliss.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਆਇਓ ॥
Naanak Dhuaarai Aaeiou ||
नानकु दुआरै आइओ ॥
O Nanak, I came to the Lord's Door,
ਤਉ ਮੈ ਲਾਲਨੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਰੀ ॥੨॥
Tho Mai Laalan Paaeiou Ree ||2||
तउ मै लालनु पाइओ री ॥२॥
And then, I found my Beloved. ||2||
ਮੋਹਨ ਰੂਪੁ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ॥
Mohan Roop Dhikhaavai ||
मोहन रूपु दिखावै ॥
The Enticing Lord has revealed His form to me,
ਅਬ ਮੋਹਿ ਨੀਦ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ॥
Ab Mohi Needh Suhaavai ||
अब मोहि नीद सुहावै ॥
And now, sleep seems sweet to me.
ਸਭ ਮੇਰੀ ਤਿਖਾ ਬੁਝਾਨੀ ॥
Sabh Maeree Thikhaa Bujhaanee ||
सभ मेरी तिखा बुझानी ॥
My thirst is totally quenched,
ਅਬ ਮੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥
Ab Mai Sehaj Samaanee ||
अब मै सहजि समानी ॥
And now, I am absorbed in celestial bliss.
ਮੀਠੀ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥
Meethee Pirehi Kehaanee ||
मीठी पिरहि कहानी ॥
How sweet is the story of my Husband Lord.

मोरी अहं जाइ दरसन पावत हे ॥
My ego is gone; I have obtained the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan.
ਰਾਚਹੁ ਨਾਥ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਈ ਸੰਤਨਾ ॥
Raachahu Naathh Hee Sehaaee Santhanaa ||
राचहु नाथ ही सहाई संतना ॥
I am absorbed in my Lord and Master, the help and support of the Saints.

ਆਹੇ ਮਨ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਚਰਨਾਵੈ ਚਰਨਾਵੈ ਉਲਝਿਓ ਅਲਿ ਮਕਰੰਦ ਕਮਲ ਜਿਉ ॥
Aahae Man Avar N Bhaavai Charanaavai Charanaavai Oulajhiou Al Makarandh Kamal Jio ||
आहे मन अवरु न भावै चरनावै चरनावै उलझिओ अलि मकरंद कमल जिउ ॥
My mind longs for Him, and does not love any other. I am totally absorbed, in love with His Lotus Feet, like the bumble bee attached to the honey of the lotus flower.
ਅਨ ਰਸ ਨਹੀ ਚਾਹੈ ਏਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਹੈ ॥੧॥
An Ras Nehee Chaahai Eaekai Har Laahai ||1||
अन रस नही चाहै एकै हरि लाहै ॥१॥
I do not desire any other taste; I seek only the One Lord. ||1||
ਅਨ ਤੇ ਟੂਟੀਐ ਰਿਖ ਤੇ ਛੂਟੀਐ ॥

अन ते टूटीऐ रिख ते छूटीऐ ॥
I have broken away from the others, and I have been released from the Messenger of Death.
ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਘੂਟੀਐ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਉਲਟੀਐ ॥
Man Har Ras Ghootteeai Sang Saadhhoo Oulatteeai ||
मन हरि रस घूटीऐ संगि साधू उलटीऐ ॥
O mind, drink in the subtle essence of the Lord; join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and turn away from the world.
ਅਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਰੇ ॥
An Naahee Naahee Rae ||
अन नाही नाही रे ॥
There is no other, none other than the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਚਰਨ ਚਰਨ ਹੇ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੨੯॥

ਅਜਾਮਲੁ ਗਨਿਕਾ ਜਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮੁਕਤ ਭਏ ਜੀਅ ਜਾਨੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Ajaamal Ganikaa Jih Simarath Mukath Bheae Jeea Jaano ||1|| Rehaao ||
अजामलु गनिका जिह सिमरत मुकत भए जीअ जानो ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Remembering Him in meditation, even Ajaamal the robber and Ganikaa the prostitute were liberated; let your soul know this. ||1||Pause||
ਗਜ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਿਟੀ ਛਿਨਹੂ ਮਹਿ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਬਖਾਨੋ ॥
Gaj Kee Thraas Mittee Shhinehoo Mehi Jab Hee Raam Bakhaano ||
गज की त्रास मिटी छिनहू महि जब ही रामु बखानो ॥
The elephant's fear was taken away in an instant, as soon as he chanted the Lord's Name.
ਨਾਰਦ ਕਹਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਧ੍ਰੂਅ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਭਜਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਲਪਟਾਨੋ ॥੧॥
Naaradh Kehath Sunath Dhhrooa Baarik Bhajan Maahi Lapattaano ||1||
नारद कहत सुनत ध्रूअ बारिक भजन माहि लपटानो ॥१॥
Listening to Naarad's teachings, the child Dhroo was absorbed in deep meditation. ||1||
ਅਚਲ ਅਮਰ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਜਗਤ ਜਾਹਿ ਹੈਰਾਨੋ ॥
Achal Amar Nirabhai Padh Paaeiou Jagath Jaahi Hairaano ||
अचल अमर निरभै पदु पाइओ जगत जाहि हैरानो ॥
He obtained the immovable, eternal state of fearlessness, and all the world was amazed.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਤ ਭਗਤ ਰਛਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਤੁਮ ਮਾਨੋ ॥੨॥੧॥
Naanak Kehath Bhagath Rashhak Har Nikatt Thaahi Thum Maano ||2||1||
नानक कहत भगत रछक हरि निकटि ताहि तुम मानो ॥२॥१॥
Says Nanak, the Lord is the Saving Grace and the Protector of His devotees; believe it - He is close to you. ||2||1||

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
Har Kae Naam Binaa Dhukh Paavai ||
हरि के नाम बिना दुखु पावै ॥
Without the Name of the Lord, you shall only find pain.
ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਹਸਾ ਨਹ ਚੂਕੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਇਹੁ ਭੇਦੁ ਬਤਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bhagath Binaa Sehasaa Neh Chookai Gur Eihu Bhaedh Bathaavai ||1|| Rehaao ||
भगति बिना सहसा नह चूकै गुरु इहु भेदु बतावै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Without devotional worship, doubt is not dispelled; the Guru has revealed this secret. ||1||Pause||
ਕਹਾ ਭਇਓ ਤੀਰਥ ਬ੍ਰਤ ਕੀਏ ਰਾਮ ਸਰਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ॥
Kehaa Bhaeiou Theerathh Brath Keeeae Raam Saran Nehee Aavai ||
कहा भइओ तीरथ ब्रत कीए राम सरनि नही आवै ॥
Of what use are sacred shrines of pilgrimage, if one does not enter the Sanctuary of the Lord?
