काइआ नगर महि राम रसु ऊतमु किउ पाईऐ उपदेसु जन करहु ॥
Within the body-village is the Lord's supreme, sublime essence. How can I obtain it? Teach me, O humble Saints.

Serving the True Guru, you shall obtain the Fruitful Vision of the Lord's Darshan; meeting Him, drink in the ambrosial essence of the Lord's Nectar. ||2||

Har Har Naam Anmrith Har Meethaa Har Santhahu Chaakh Dhikhahu ||
हरि हरि नामु अम्रितु हरि मीठा हरि संतहु चाखि दिखहु ॥
The Ambrosial Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is so sweet; O Saints of the Lord, taste it, and see.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗਾ ਤਿਨ ਬਿਸਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਬਿਖ ਰਸਹੁ ॥੩॥
Guramath Har Ras Meethaa Laagaa Thin Bisarae Sabh Bikh Rasahu ||3||
गुरमति हरि रसु मीठा लागा तिन बिसरे सभि बिख रसहु ॥३॥
Under Guru's Instruction, the Lord's essence seems so sweet; through it, all corrupt sensual pleasures are forgotten. ||3||

The Name of the Lord is the medicine to cure all diseases; so serve the Lord, O humble Saints.

Anyone from any class - Kh'shaatriya Brahman, Soodra or Vaishya - can chant, and meditate on the Mantra of the Lord's Name.

अपना भला सभु कोई बाछै सो करे जि मेरै चिति न चितैनी ॥२॥
All beings seek goodness for themselves, but what the Lord does - that may not be what we think and expect. ||2||

So renounce the clever intellect of your mind, O humble servants of the Lord, no matter how hard this may be.

मति सुमति तेरै वसि सुआमी हम जंत तू पुरखु जंतैनी ॥
Wisdom, balanced wisdom is in Your power, O Lord and Master; I am the instrument, and You are the player, O Primal Lord.

ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂੜ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬਧਿਕ ਵਿਚਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਫਿਰੰਦੇ ॥
Saakath Moorr Maaeiaa Kae Badhhik Vich Maaeiaa Firehi Firandhae ||
साकत मूड़ माइआ के बधिक विचि माइआ फिरहि फिरंदे ॥
The foolish faithless cynics are held captive by Maya; in Maya, they continue wandering, wandering around.
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਤ ਕਿਰਤ ਕੇ ਬਾਧੇ ਜਿਉ ਤੇਲੀ ਬਲਦ ਭਵੰਦੇ ॥੨॥
Thrisanaa Jalath Kirath Kae Baadhhae Jio Thaelee Baladh Bhavandhae ||2||
त्रिसना जलत किरत के बाधे जिउ तेली बलद भवंदे ॥२॥
Burnt by desire, and bound by the karma of their past actions, they go round and round, like the ox at the mill press. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੰਦੇ ॥
Guramukh Saev Lagae Sae Oudhharae Vaddabhaagee Saev Karandhae ||
गुरमुखि सेव लगे से उधरे वडभागी सेव करंदे ॥
The Gurmukhs, who focus on serving the Guru, are saved; by great good fortune, they perform service.
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਭਿ ਤੂਟੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਫੰਦੇ ॥੩॥
Jin Har Japiaa Thin Fal Paaeiaa Sabh Thoottae Maaeiaa Fandhae ||3||
जिन हरि जपिआ तिन फलु पाइआ सभि तूटे माइआ फंदे ॥३॥
Those who meditate on the Lord obtain the fruits of their rewards, and the bonds of Maya are all broken. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੇ ॥
Aapae Thaakur Aapae Saevak Sabh Aapae Aap Govindhae ||
आपे ठाकुरु आपे सेवकु सभु आपे आपि गोविंदे ॥
He Himself is the Lord and Master, and He Himself is the servant. The Lord of the Universe Himself is all by Himself.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਰਹੰਦੇ ॥੪॥੬॥

जन नानक आपे आपि सभु वरतै जिउ राखै तिवै रहंदे ॥४॥६॥
