ऐसो हरि रसु बरनि न साकउ गुरि पूरै मेरी उलटि धरी ॥१॥
Such is the sublime essence of the Lord, that I cannot describe it. The Perfect Guru has turned me away from the world. ||1||

What does the mind say? What can I say?
ਜਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

अनबोले कउ तुही पछानहि जो जीअन महि होता ॥
You know even what is not said, whatever is in the soul.
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਕਾਇ ਕਹਾ ਲਉ ਡਹਕਹਿ ਜਉ ਪੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਨਤਾ ॥੧॥
Rae Man Kaae Kehaa Lo Ddehakehi Jo Paekhath Hee Sang Sunathaa ||1||
रे मन काइ कहा लउ डहकहि जउ पेखत ही संगि सुनता ॥१॥
O mind, why do you deceive others? How long will you do this? The Lord is with you; He hears and sees everything. ||1||
ਐਸੋ ਜਾਨਿ ਭਏ ਮਨਿ ਆਨਦ ਆਨ ਨ ਬੀਓ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
Aiso Jaan Bheae Man Aanadh Aan N Beeou Karathaa ||
ऐसो जानि भए मनि आनद आन न बीओ करता ॥
Knowing this, my mind has become blissful; there is no other Creator.

Thus, the slanderer crumbles away.
ਇਹ ਨੀਸਾਨੀ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਉ ਕਾਲਰ ਭੀਤਿ ਗਿਰੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

इह नीसानी सुनहु तुम भाई जिउ कालर भीति गिरीऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
This is the distinctive sign - listen, O Siblings of Destiny: he collapses like a wall of sand. ||1||Pause||
ਜਉ ਦੇਖੈ ਛਿਦ੍ਰੁ ਤਉ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਉਮਾਹੈ ਭਲੋ ਦੇਖਿ ਦੁਖ ਭਰੀਐ ॥
Jo Dhaekhai Shhidhra Tho Nindhak Oumaahai Bhalo Dhaekh Dhukh Bhareeai ||
जउ देखै छिद्रु तउ निंदकु उमाहै भलो देखि दुख भरीऐ ॥
When the slanderer sees a fault in someone else, he is pleased. Seeing goodness, he is depressed.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਨਹੀ ਪਹੁਚੈ ਬੁਰਾ ਚਿਤਵਤ ਚਿਤਵਤ ਮਰੀਐ ॥੧॥
Aath Pehar Chithavai Nehee Pahuchai Buraa Chithavath Chithavath Mareeai ||1||
आठ पहर चितवै नही पहुचै बुरा चितवत चितवत मरीऐ ॥१॥
Twenty-four hours a day, he plots, but nothing works. The evil man dies, constantly thinking up evil plans. ||1||
ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਕਾਲੁ ਨੇਰੈ ਆਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸਿਉ ਬਾਦੁ ਉਠਰੀਐ ॥
Nindhak Prabhoo Bhulaaeiaa Kaal Naerai Aaeiaa Har Jan Sio Baadh Outhareeai ||
निंदकु प्रभू भुलाइआ कालु नेरै आइआ हरि जन सिउ बादु उठरीऐ ॥
The slanderer forgets God, death approaches him, and he starts to argue with the humble servant of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਿਆ ਮਾਨਸ ਬਪੁਰੇ ਕਰੀਐ ॥੨॥੯॥੯੫॥

नानक का राखा आपि प्रभु सुआमी किआ मानस बपुरे करीऐ ॥२॥९॥९५॥
God Himself, the Lord and Master, is Nanak's protector. What can any wretched person do to him? ||2||9||95||

करहि करावहि मूकरि पावहि पेखत सुनत सदा संगि हरे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
You act, and incite others to act, and then deny it. The Lord is always with you; He sees and hears everything. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਚ ਬਿਹਾਝਨ ਕੰਚਨ ਛਾਡਨ ਬੈਰੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੇਤੁ ਸਾਜਨ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਖਰੇ ॥
Kaach Bihaajhan Kanchan Shhaaddan Bairee Sang Haeth Saajan Thiaag Kharae ||
काच बिहाझन कंचन छाडन बैरी संगि हेतु साजन तिआगि खरे ॥
You purchase glass, and discard gold; you are in love with your enemy, while you renounce your true friend.
ਹੋਵਨੁ ਕਉਰਾ ਅਨਹੋਵਨੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਲਪਟਾਇ ਜਰੇ ॥੧॥
Hovan Kouraa Anehovan Meethaa Bikhiaa Mehi Lapattaae Jarae ||1||
होवनु कउरा अनहोवनु मीठा बिखिआ महि लपटाइ जरे ॥१॥
That which exists, seems bitter; that which does not exist, seems sweet to you. Engrossed in corruption, you are burning away. ||1||
ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਪਰਾਨੀ ਭਰਮ ਗੁਬਾਰ ਮੋਹ ਬੰਧਿ ਪਰੇ ॥
Andhh Koop Mehi Pariou Paraanee Bharam Gubaar Moh Bandhh Parae ||
अंध कूप महि परिओ परानी भरम गुबार मोह बंधि परे ॥
The mortal has fallen into the deep, dark pit, and is entangled in the darkness of doubt, and the bondage of emotional attachment.

Says Nanak, when God becomes merciful, one meets with the Guru, who takes him by the arm, and lifts him out. ||2||10||96||

With my mind, body and tongue, I remember the Lord.
ਭਏ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸੇ ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bheae Anandhaa Mittae Andhaesae Sarab Sookh Mo Ko Gur Dheenhaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
भए अनंदा मिटे अंदेसे सरब सूख मो कउ गुरि दीन्हा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
I am in ecstasy, and my anxieties are dispelled; the Guru has blessed me with total peace. ||1||Pause||
ਇਆਨਪ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਭਈ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਾਨਾ ਬੀਨਾ ॥
Eiaanap Thae Sabh Bhee Siaanap Prabh Maeraa Dhaanaa Beenaa ||
इआनप ते सभ भई सिआनप प्रभु मेरा दाना बीना ॥
My ignorance has been totally transformed into wisdom. My God is wise and all-knowing.
ਹਾਥ ਦੇਇ ਰਾਖੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ ਕਾਹੂ ਨ ਕਰਤੇ ਕਛੁ ਖੀਨਾ ॥੧॥
Haathh Dhaee Raakhai Apanae Ko Kaahoo N Karathae Kashh Kheenaa ||1||
हाथ देइ राखै अपने कउ काहू न करते कछु खीना ॥१॥
Giving me His Hand, He saved me, and now no one can harm me at all. ||1||
ਬਲਿ ਜਾਵਉ ਦਰਸਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
Bal Jaavo Dharasan Saadhhoo Kai Jih Prasaadh Har Naam Leenaa ||
बलि जावउ दरसन साधू कै जिह प्रसादि हरि नामु लीना ॥
I am a sacrifice to the Blessed Vision of the Holy; by their Grace, I contemplate the Lord's Name.

Anmrith Naam Ridhae Mehi Dheeno Janam Janam Kee Mail Gee ||1|| Rehaao ||
अम्रित नामु रिदे महि दीनो जनम जनम की मैलु गई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
He has enshrined the Ambrosial Name of the Lord within my heart, and the filth of countless incarnations has been washed away. ||1||Pause||
ਨਿਵਰੇ ਦੂਤ ਦੁਸਟ ਬੈਰਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾਪੁ ॥
Nivarae Dhooth Dhusatt Bairaaee Gur Poorae Kaa Japiaa Jaap ||
निवरे दूत दुसट बैराई गुर पूरे का जपिआ जापु ॥
The demons and wicked enemies are driven out, by meditating, and chanting the Chant of the Perfect Guru.
