Sathigur Saagar Gun Naam Kaa Mai This Dhaekhan Kaa Chaao ||
सतिगुरु सागरु गुण नाम का मै तिसु देखण का चाउ ॥
The True Guru is the Ocean of Virtue of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. I have such a yearning to see Him!
ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਜੀਵਊ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੇਖੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੬॥
Ho This Bin Gharree N Jeevoo Bin Dhaekhae Mar Jaao ||6||
हउ तिसु बिनु घड़ी न जीवऊ बिनु देखे मरि जाउ ॥६॥
Without Him, I cannot live, even for an instant. If I do not see Him, I die. ||6||
ਜਿਉ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਵਿਣੁ ਪਾਣੀਐ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਕਿਤੈ ਉਪਾਇ ॥
Jio Mashhulee Vin Paaneeai Rehai N Kithai Oupaae ||
जिउ मछुली विणु पाणीऐ रहै न कितै उपाइ ॥
As the fish cannot survive at all without water,
ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੰਤੁ ਨ ਜੀਵਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
Thio Har Bin Santh N Jeevee Bin Har Naamai Mar Jaae ||7||
तिउ हरि बिनु संतु न जीवई बिनु हरि नामै मरि जाइ ॥७॥
The Saint cannot live without the Lord. Without the Lord's Name, he dies. ||7||
ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਕਿਉ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਮਾਉ ॥
Mai Sathigur Saethee Pireharree Kio Gur Bin Jeevaa Maao ||
मै सतिगुर सेती पिरहड़ी किउ गुर बिनु जीवा माउ ॥
I am so much in love with my True Guru! How could I even live without the Guru, O my mother?
ਮੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹਾਉ ॥੮॥
Mai Gurabaanee Aadhhaar Hai Gurabaanee Laag Rehaao ||8||
मै गुरबाणी आधारु है गुरबाणी लागि रहाउ ॥८॥
I have the Support of the Word of the Guru's Bani. Attached to Gurbani, I survive. ||8||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਦੇਵੈ ਮਾਇ ॥
Har Har Naam Rathann Hai Gur Thuthaa Dhaevai Maae ||
हरि हरि नामु रतंनु है गुरु तुठा देवै माइ ॥
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is a jewel; by the Pleasure of His Will, the Guru has given it, O my mother.
ਮੈ ਧਰ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੯॥
Mai Dhhar Sachae Naam Kee Har Naam Rehaa Liv Laae ||9||
मै धर सचे नाम की हरि नामि रहा लिव लाइ ॥९॥
The True Name is my only Support. I remain lovingly absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||9||
ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਦੇਇ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇ ॥
Gur Giaan Padhaarathh Naam Hai Har Naamo Dhaee Dhrirraae ||
गुर गिआनु पदारथु नामु है हरि नामो देइ द्रिड़ाइ ॥
The wisdom of the Guru is the treasure of the Naam. The Guru implants and enshrines the Lord's Name.
ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਸੋ ਲਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਇ ॥੧੦॥
Jis Paraapath So Lehai Gur Charanee Laagai Aae ||10||
जिसु परापति सो लहै गुर चरणी लागै आइ ॥१०॥
He alone receives it, he alone gets it, who comes and falls at the Guru's Feet. ||10||
ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਆਖੈ ਆਇ ॥
Akathh Kehaanee Praem Kee Ko Preetham Aakhai Aae ||
अकथ कहाणी प्रेम की को प्रीतमु आखै आइ ॥
If only someone would come and tell me the Unspoken Speech of the Love of my Beloved.
ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਮਨੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਇ ॥੧੧॥
This Dhaevaa Man Aapanaa Niv Niv Laagaa Paae ||11||
तिसु देवा मनु आपणा निवि निवि लागा पाइ ॥११॥
I would dedicate my mind to him; I would bow down in humble respect, and fall at his feet. ||11||
ਸਜਣੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਏਕੁ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥
Sajan Maeraa Eaek Thoon Karathaa Purakh Sujaan ||
सजणु मेरा एकु तूं करता पुरखु सुजाणु ॥
You are my only Friend, O my All-knowing, All-powerful Creator Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੀਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਮੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥੧੨॥
Sathigur Meeth Milaaeiaa Mai Sadhaa Sadhaa Thaeraa Thaan ||12||
सतिगुरि मीति मिलाइआ मै सदा सदा तेरा ताणु ॥१२॥
You have brought me to meet with my True Guru. Forever and ever, You are my only strength. ||12||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਾ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਜਾਇ ॥

सतिगुरु मेरा सदा सदा ना आवै ना जाइ ॥
My True Guru, forever and ever, does not come and go.
ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧੩॥
Ouhu Abinaasee Purakh Hai Sabh Mehi Rehiaa Samaae ||13||
ओहु अबिनासी पुरखु है सभ महि रहिआ समाइ ॥१३॥
He is the Imperishable Creator Lord; He is permeating and pervading among all. ||13||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਸਾਬਤੁ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
Raam Naam Dhhan Sanchiaa Saabath Poonjee Raas ||
राम नाम धनु संचिआ साबतु पूंजी रासि ॥
I have gathered in the wealth of the Lord's Name. My facilities and faculties are intact, safe and sound.

उरझि रहिओ बिखिआ कै संगा ॥
He is entangled in sinful associations;
ਮਨਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥੧॥
Manehi Biaapath Anik Tharangaa ||1||
मनहि बिआपत अनिक तरंगा ॥१॥
His mind is troubled by so very many waves. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ॥

मेरे मन अगम अगोचर ॥
O my mind, how can the Unapproachable and Incomprehensible Lord be found?

Moh Magan Mehi Rehiaa Biaapae ||
मोह मगन महि रहिआ बिआपे ॥
He remains entangled in the intoxication of worldly love.
ਅਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਕਬਹੂ ਨਹੀ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ॥੨॥
Ath Thrisanaa Kabehoo Nehee Dhhraapae ||2||
अति त्रिसना कबहू नही ध्रापे ॥२॥
His excessive thirst is never quenched. ||2||
ਬਸਇ ਕਰੋਧੁ ਸਰੀਰਿ ਚੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
Basae Karodhh Sareer Chanddaaraa ||
बसइ करोधु सरीरि चंडारा ॥
Anger is the outcaste which hides within his body;
ਅਗਿਆਨਿ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਮਹਾ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
Agiaan N Soojhai Mehaa Gubaaraa ||3||
अगिआनि न सूझै महा गुबारा ॥३॥
He is in the utter darkness of ignorance, and he does not understand. ||3||
ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਜਰੇ ਕਿਵਾਰਾ ॥
Bhramath Biaapath Jarae Kivaaraa ||
भ्रमत बिआपत जरे किवारा ॥
Afflicted by doubt, the shutters are shut tight;
ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
Jaan N Paaeeai Prabh Dharabaaraa ||4||
जाणु न पाईऐ प्रभ दरबारा ॥४॥
He cannot go to God's Court. ||4||
ਆਸਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਬੰਧਿ ਪਰਾਨਾ ॥
Aasaa Andhaesaa Bandhh Paraanaa ||
आसा अंदेसा बंधि पराना ॥
The mortal is bound and gagged by hope and fear;
ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਫਿਰਤ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥੫॥
Mehal N Paavai Firath Bigaanaa ||5||
महलु न पावै फिरत बिगाना ॥५॥
He cannot find the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, and so he wanders around like a stranger. ||5||
ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
Sagal Biaadhh Kai Vas Kar Dheenaa ||
सगल बिआधि कै वसि करि दीना ॥
He falls under the power of all negative influences;
ਫਿਰਤ ਪਿਆਸ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨਾ ॥੬॥
Firath Piaas Jio Jal Bin Meenaa ||6||
फिरत पिआस जिउ जल बिनु मीना ॥६॥
He wanders around thirsty like a fish out of water. ||6||
ਕਛੂ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਉਕਤਿ ਨ ਮੋਰੀ ॥
Kashhoo Siaanap Oukath N Moree ||
कछू सिआनप उकति न मोरी ॥
I have no clever tricks or techniques;
ਏਕ ਆਸ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੋਰੀ ॥੭॥
Eaek Aas Thaakur Prabh Thoree ||7||
एक आस ठाकुर प्रभ तोरी ॥७॥
You are my only hope, O my Lord God Master. ||7||
ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਾਸੇ ॥

करउ बेनती संतन पासे ॥
