जगत उधारन साध प्रभ तिन्ह लागहु पाल ॥
God's Holy people are the saviors of the world; I grab hold of the hem of their robes.
ਮੋ ਕਉ ਦੀਜੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਗ ਰਾਲ ॥੨॥
Mo Ko Dheejai Dhaan Prabh Santhan Pag Raal ||2||
मो कउ दीजै दानु प्रभ संतन पग राल ॥२॥
Bless me, O God, with the gift of the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||2||
ਉਕਤਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਕਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਘਾਲ ॥
Oukath Siaanap Kashh Nehee Naahee Kashh Ghaal ||
उकति सिआनप कछु नही नाही कछु घाल ॥
I have no skill or wisdom at all, nor any work to my credit.
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੈ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਮੋਹ ਤੇ ਕਾਟਹੁ ਜਮ ਜਾਲ ॥੩॥
Bhram Bhai Raakhahu Moh Thae Kaattahu Jam Jaal ||3||
भ्रम भै राखहु मोह ते काटहु जम जाल ॥३॥
Please, protect me from doubt, fear and emotional attachment, and cut away the noose of Death from my neck. ||3||

Keethaa Lorrehi So Karehi Thujh Bin Kashh Naahi ||
कीता लोड़हि सो करहि तुझ बिनु कछु नाहि ॥
Whatever You wish, You do. Without You, there is nothing.
ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੈ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਛਡਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥

परतापु तुम्हारा देखि कै जमदूत छडि जाहि ॥१॥
Gazing upon Your Glory, the Messenger of Death leaves and goes away. ||1||

तुम्हरी क्रिपा ते छूटीऐ बिनसै अहमेव ॥
By Your Grace, one is emancipated, and egotism is dispelled.

Searching, searching, searching - without the Naam, everything is false.
ਜੀਵਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਭੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰੁ ॥੨॥

जीवन सुखु सभु साधसंगि प्रभ मनसा पूरु ॥२॥
All the comforts of life are found in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; God is the Fulfiller of desires. ||2||
ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗਹਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਸਭ ਜਾਲੀ ॥

जितु जितु लावहु तितु तितु लगहि सिआनप सभ जाली ॥
Whatever You attach me to, to that I am attached; I have burnt away all my cleverness.
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲੀ ॥੩॥
Jath Kath Thumh Bharapoor Hahu Maerae Dheen Dhaeiaalee ||3||
जत कत तुम्ह भरपूर हहु मेरे दीन दइआली ॥३॥
You are permeating and pervading everywhere, O my Lord, Merciful to the meek. ||3||
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਮਾਗਨਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਏ ॥
Sabh Kishh Thum Thae Maaganaa Vaddabhaagee Paaeae ||
सभु किछु तुम ते मागना वडभागी पाए ॥
I ask for everything from You, but only the very fortunate ones obtain it.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਵਾ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੪੨॥

Dwelling in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, all sins are erased.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੇਤੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਿਆ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਗਰਭਿ ਨ ਗ੍ਰਸਨਾ ॥੧॥

प्रभ सेती रंगि रातिआ ता ते गरभि न ग्रसना ॥१॥
One who is attuned to the Love of God, is not cast into the womb of reincarnation. ||1||
ਨਾਮੁ ਕਹਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਸੂਚੀ ਭਈ ਰਸਨਾ ॥
Naam Kehath Govindh Kaa Soochee Bhee Rasanaa ||
नामु कहत गोविंद का सूची भई रसना ॥
Chanting the Name of the Lord of the Universe, the tongue becomes holy.
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਜਪੁ ਜਪਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मन तन निरमल होई है गुर का जपु जपना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਤ ਧ੍ਰਾਪਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਰਸੁ ਲੈ ਹਸਨਾ ॥
Har Ras Chaakhath Dhhraapiaa Man Ras Lai Hasanaa ||
हरि रसु चाखत ध्रापिआ मनि रसु लै हसना ॥
Tasting the subtle essence of the Lord, one is satisfied; receiving this essence, the mind becomes happy.
ਬੁਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਈ ਉਲਟਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਸਨਾ ॥੨॥
Budhh Pragaas Pragatt Bhee Oulatt Kamal Bigasanaa ||2||
बुधि प्रगास प्रगट भई उलटि कमलु बिगसना ॥२॥
The intellect is brightened and illuminated; turning away from the world, the heart-lotus blossoms forth. ||2||
ਸੀਤਲ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਭ ਬੂਝੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ॥
Seethal Saanth Santhokh Hoe Sabh Boojhee Thrisanaa ||
सीतल सांति संतोखु होइ सभ बूझी त्रिसना ॥
He is cooled and soothed, peaceful and content; all his thirst is quenched.
ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਧਾਵਤ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਥਾਨਿ ਬਸਨਾ ॥੩॥
Dheh Dhis Dhhaavath Mitt Geae Niramal Thhaan Basanaa ||3||
दह दिस धावत मिटि गए निरमल थानि बसना ॥३॥
The mind's wandering in the ten directions is stopped, and one dwells in the immaculate place. ||3||
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੈ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਭਏ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਸਨਾ ॥
Raakhanehaarai Raakhiaa Bheae Bhram Bhasanaa ||
राखनहारै राखिआ भए भ्रम भसना ॥
The Savior Lord saves him, and his doubts are burnt to ashes.
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਸਾਧ ਦਰਸਨਾ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੪੩॥
Naam Nidhhaan Naanak Sukhee Paekh Saadhh Dharasanaa ||4||13||43||
नामु निधान नानक सुखी पेखि साध दरसना ॥४॥१३॥४३॥
Nanak is blessed with the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. He finds peace, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Saints' Darshan. ||4||13||43||

पाणी पखा पीसु दास कै तब होहि निहालु ॥
Carry water for the Lord's slave wave the fan over him and grind his corn; then, you shall be happy.
ਰਾਜ ਮਿਲਖ ਸਿਕਦਾਰੀਆ ਅਗਨੀ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਲੁ ॥੧॥
Raaj Milakh Sikadhaareeaa Aganee Mehi Jaal ||1||
राज मिलख सिकदारीआ अगनी महि जालु ॥१॥
Burn in the fire your power, property and authority. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਛੋਹਰਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ॥
Santh Janaa Kaa Shhoharaa This Charanee Laag ||
संत जना का छोहरा तिसु चरणी लागि ॥
Grasp hold of the feet of the servant of the humble Saints.
ਮਾਇਆਧਾਰੀ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਛੋਡਉ ਤਿਆਗਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

माइआधारी छत्रपति तिन्ह छोडउ तिआगि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Renounce and abandon the wealthy, the regal overlords and kings. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਦਾਨਾ ਰੂਖਾ ਸੋ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
Santhan Kaa Dhaanaa Rookhaa So Sarab Nidhhaan ||
संतन का दाना रूखा सो सरब निधान ॥
The dry bread of the Saints is equal to all treasures.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਛਤੀਹ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਬਿਖੂ ਸਮਾਨ ॥੨॥
Grihi Saakath Shhatheeh Prakaar Thae Bikhoo Samaan ||2||
ग्रिहि साकत छतीह प्रकार ते बिखू समान ॥२॥
The thirty-six tasty dishes of the faithless cynic, are just like poison. ||2||
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਲੂਗਰਾ ਓਢਿ ਨਗਨ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
Bhagath Janaa Kaa Loogaraa Oudt Nagan N Hoee ||
भगत जना का लूगरा ओढि नगन न होई ॥
Wearing the old blankets of the humble devotees, one is not naked.
ਸਾਕਤ ਸਿਰਪਾਉ ਰੇਸਮੀ ਪਹਿਰਤ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥੩॥
Saakath Sirapaao Raesamee Pehirath Path Khoee ||3||
साकत सिरपाउ रेसमी पहिरत पति खोई ॥३॥
But by putting on the silk clothes of the faithless cynic, one loses one's honor. ||3||
ਸਾਕਤ ਸਿਉ ਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਰਿਐ ਅਧ ਵੀਚਹੁ ਟੂਟੈ ॥
Saakath Sio Mukh Joriai Adhh Veechahu Ttoottai ||
साकत सिउ मुखि जोरिऐ अध वीचहु टूटै ॥
Friendship with the faithless cynic breaks down mid-way.
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਜੋ ਕਰੇ ਇਤ ਊਤਹਿ ਛੂਟੈ ॥੪॥
Har Jan Kee Saevaa Jo Karae Eith Oothehi Shhoottai ||4||
हरि जन की सेवा जो करे इत ऊतहि छूटै ॥४॥
But whoever serves the humble servants of the Lord, is emancipated here and hereafter. ||4||
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਹੋਆ ਆਪਿ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥
Sabh Kishh Thumh Hee Thae Hoaa Aap Banath Banaaee ||
सभ किछु तुम्ह ही ते होआ आपि बणत बणाई ॥
Everything comes from You, O Lord; You Yourself created the creation.
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਸਾਧ ਕਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥੫॥੧੪॥੪੪॥

दरसनु भेटत साध का नानक गुण गाई ॥५॥१४॥४४॥
