Har Bhagathaa Kaa Aasaraa An Naahee Thaao ||
हरि भगता का आसरा अन नाही ठाउ ॥
The Lord is the Hope and Support of His devotees; there is nowhere else for them to go.
ਤਾਣੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਧਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥
Thaan Dheebaan Paravaar Dhhan Prabh Thaeraa Naao ||1||
ताणु दीबाणु परवार धनु प्रभ तेरा नाउ ॥१॥
O God, Your Name is my power, realm, relatives and riches. ||1||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਰਖਿ ਲੀਏ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Prabh Aapanee Apanae Dhaas Rakh Leeeae ||
करि किरपा प्रभि आपणी अपने दास रखि लीए ॥
God has granted His Mercy, and saved His slaves.
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਪਚੇ ਜਮਕਾਲਿ ਗ੍ਰਸੀਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Nindhak Nindhaa Kar Pachae Jamakaal Graseeeae ||1|| Rehaao ||
निंदक निंदा करि पचे जमकालि ग्रसीए ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The slanderers rot in their slander; they are seized by the Messenger of Death. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਵਨਾ ਦੂਸਰ ਕੋ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
Santhaa Eaek Dhhiaavanaa Dhoosar Ko Naahi ||
संता एकु धिआवना दूसर को नाहि ॥
The Saints meditate on the One Lord, and no other.
ਏਕਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਰਵਿਆ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਥਾਇ ॥੨॥
Eaekas Aagai Baenathee Raviaa Srab Thhaae ||2||
एकसु आगै बेनती रविआ स्रब थाइ ॥२॥
They offer their prayers to the One Lord, who is pervading and permeating all places. ||2||
ਕਥਾ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਇਉ ਸੁਣੀ ਭਗਤਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
Kathhaa Puraathan Eio Sunee Bhagathan Kee Baanee ||
कथा पुरातन इउ सुणी भगतन की बानी ॥
I have heard this old story, spoken by the devotees,
ਸਗਲ ਦੁਸਟ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਕੀਏ ਜਨ ਲੀਏ ਮਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
Sagal Dhusatt Khandd Khandd Keeeae Jan Leeeae Maanee ||3||
सगल दुसट खंड खंड कीए जन लीए मानी ॥३॥
That all the wicked are cut apart into pieces, while His humble servants are blessed with honor. ||3||
ਸਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਪਰਗਟ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Sath Bachan Naanak Kehai Paragatt Sabh Maahi ||
सति बचन नानकु कहै परगट सभ माहि ॥
Nanak speaks the true words, which are obvious to all.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਭਉ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੫੬॥
Prabh Kae Saevak Saran Prabh Thin Ko Bho Naahi ||4||26||56||
प्रभ के सेवक सरणि प्रभ तिन कउ भउ नाहि ॥४॥२६॥५६॥
God's servants are under God's Protection; they have absolutely no fear. ||4||26||56||

Bandhhan Kaattai So Prabhoo Jaa Kai Kal Haathh ||
बंधन काटै सो प्रभू जा कै कल हाथ ॥
God breaks the bonds which hold us; He holds all power in His hands.
ਅਵਰ ਕਰਮ ਨਹੀ ਛੂਟੀਐ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਥ ॥੧॥
Avar Karam Nehee Shhootteeai Raakhahu Har Naathh ||1||
अवर करम नही छूटीऐ राखहु हरि नाथ ॥१॥
No other actions will bring release; save me, O my Lord and Master. ||1||
ਤਉ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਮਾਧਵੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਦਇਆਲ ॥

तउ सरणागति माधवे पूरन दइआल ॥
I have entered Your Sanctuary, O Perfect Lord of Mercy.
ਛੂਟਿ ਜਾਇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Shhoott Jaae Sansaar Thae Raakhai Gopaal ||1|| Rehaao ||
छूटि जाइ संसार ते राखै गोपाल ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Those whom You preserve and protect, O Lord of the Universe, are saved from the trap of the world. ||1||Pause||
ਆਸਾ ਭਰਮ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਮੋਹ ਇਨ ਮਹਿ ਲੋਭਾਨਾ ॥
Aasaa Bharam Bikaar Moh Ein Mehi Lobhaanaa ||
आसा भरम बिकार मोह इन महि लोभाना ॥
Hope, doubt, corruption and emotional attachment - in these, he is engrossed.
ਝੂਠੁ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
Jhooth Samagree Man Vasee Paarabreham N Jaanaa ||2||
झूठु समग्री मनि वसी पारब्रहमु न जाना ॥२॥
The false material world abides in his mind, and he does not understand the Supreme Lord God. ||2||
ਪਰਮ ਜੋਤਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੇ ॥

परम जोति पूरन पुरख सभि जीअ तुम्हारे ॥
O Perfect Lord of Supreme Light, all beings belong to You.
ਜਿਉ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਰਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
Jio Thoo Raakhehi Thio Rehaa Prabh Agam Apaarae ||3||
जिउ तू राखहि तिउ रहा प्रभ अगम अपारे ॥३॥
As You keep us, we live, O infinite, inaccessible God. ||3||
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਹਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
Karan Kaaran Samarathh Prabh Dhaehi Apanaa Naao ||
करण कारण समरथ प्रभ देहि अपना नाउ ॥
Cause of causes, All-powerful Lord God, please bless me with Your Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਰੀਐ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੫੭॥

नानक तरीऐ साधसंगि हरि हरि गुण गाउ ॥४॥२७॥५७॥
Nanak is carried across in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||27||57||

Kavan Kavan Nehee Pathariaa Thumharee Paratheeth ||
कवनु कवनु नही पतरिआ तुम्हरी परतीति ॥
Who? Who has not fallen, by placing their hopes in you?
ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਨਰਕ ਕੀ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥
Mehaa Mohanee Mohiaa Narak Kee Reeth ||1||
महा मोहनी मोहिआ नरक की रीति ॥१॥
You are enticed by the great enticer - this is the way to hell! ||1||
ਮਨ ਖੁਟਹਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਸਾਸੁ ਤੂ ਮਹਾ ਉਦਮਾਦਾ ॥
Man Khuttehar Thaeraa Nehee Bisaas Thoo Mehaa Oudhamaadhaa ||
मन खुटहर तेरा नही बिसासु तू महा उदमादा ॥
O vicious mind, no faith can be placed in you; you are totally intoxicated.
ਖਰ ਕਾ ਪੈਖਰੁ ਤਉ ਛੁਟੈ ਜਉ ਊਪਰਿ ਲਾਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Khar Kaa Paikhar Tho Shhuttai Jo Oopar Laadhaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
खर का पैखरु तउ छुटै जउ ऊपरि लादा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The donkey's leash is only removed, after the load is placed on his back. ||1||Pause||
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਖੰਡੇ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਦੁਖ ਡਾਂਡ ॥
Jap Thap Sanjam Thumh Khanddae Jam Kae Dhukh Ddaandd ||
जप तप संजम तुम्ह खंडे जम के दुख डांड ॥
You destroy the value of chanting, intensive meditation and self-discipline; you shall suffer in pain, beaten by the Messenger of Death.
ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੋਨਿ ਦੁਖ ਨਿਰਲਜੇ ਭਾਂਡ ॥੨॥
Simarehi Naahee Jon Dhukh Niralajae Bhaandd ||2||
सिमरहि नाही जोनि दुख निरलजे भांड ॥२॥
You do not meditate, so you shall suffer the pains of reincarnation, you shameless buffoon! ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਮਹਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਤਿਸ ਸਿਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਭੇਦੁ ॥
Har Sang Sehaaee Mehaa Meeth This Sio Thaeraa Bhaedh ||
हरि संगि सहाई महा मीतु तिस सिउ तेरा भेदु ॥
The Lord is your Companion, your Helper, your Best Friend; but you disagree with Him.
ਬੀਧਾ ਪੰਚ ਬਟਵਾਰਈ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਮਹਾ ਖੇਦੁ ॥੩॥
Beedhhaa Panch Battavaaree Oupajiou Mehaa Khaedh ||3||
बीधा पंच बटवारई उपजिओ महा खेदु ॥३॥
You are in love with the five thieves; this brings terrible pain. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਜਿਨ ਮਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਕੀਨਾ ॥
Naanak Thin Santhan Saranaagathee Jin Man Vas Keenaa ||
नानक तिन संतन सरणागती जिन मनु वसि कीना ॥
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Saints, who have conquered their minds.
ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਰਬਸੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਦੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ॥੪॥੨੮॥੫੮॥
Than Dhhan Sarabas Aapanaa Prabh Jan Ko Dheenhaa ||4||28||58||
तनु धनु सरबसु आपणा प्रभि जन कउ दीन्हा ॥४॥२८॥५८॥
He gives body, wealth and everything to the slaves of God. ||4||28||58||

Try to meditate, and contemplate the source of peace, and bliss will come to you.
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
Jap Jap Naam Gobindh Kaa Pooran Beechaar ||1||
जपि जपि नामु गोबिंद का पूरन बीचारु ॥१॥
Chanting, and meditating on the Name of the Lord of the Universe, perfect understanding is achieved. ||1||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਜਪਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾ ॥
Charan Kamal Gur Kae Japath Har Jap Ho Jeevaa ||
चरन कमल गुर के जपत हरि जपि हउ जीवा ॥
Meditating on the Lotus Feet of the Guru, and chanting the Name of the Lord, I live.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਆਰਾਧਤੇ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Paarabreham Aaraadhhathae Mukh Anmrith Peevaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
पारब्रहमु आराधते मुखि अम्रितु पीवा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Worshipping the Supreme Lord God in adoration, my mouth drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਬਸੇ ਸਭ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਲੋਚ ॥
Jeea Janth Sabh Sukh Basae Sabh Kai Man Loch ||
जीअ जंत सभि सुखि बसे सभ कै मनि लोच ॥
All beings and creatures dwell in peace; the minds of all yearn for the Lord.
ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਤ ਚਿਤਵਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਪੋਚ ॥੨॥
Paroupakaar Nith Chithavathae Naahee Kashh Poch ||2||
परउपकारु नित चितवते नाही कछु पोच ॥२॥
Those who continually remember the Lord, do good deeds for others; they harbor no ill will towards anyone. ||2||
