सबदि मरहु फिरि जीवहु सद ही ता फिरि मरणु न होई ॥
Dying in the Word of the Shabad, you shall live forever, and you shall never die again.

अम्रितु नामु सदा मनि मीठा सबदे पावै कोई ॥३॥
The Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam is ever-sweet to the mind; but how few are those who obtain the Shabad. ||3||
ਦਾਤੈ ਦਾਤਿ ਰਖੀ ਹਥਿ ਅਪਣੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਈ ॥
Dhaathai Dhaath Rakhee Hathh Apanai Jis Bhaavai This Dhaeee ||
दातै दाति रखी हथि अपणै जिसु भावै तिसु देई ॥
The Great Giver keeps His Gifts in His Hand; He gives them to those with whom He is pleased.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦਰਗਹ ਜਾਪਹਿ ਸੇਈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥

नानक नामि रते सुखु पाइआ दरगह जापहि सेई ॥४॥११॥
O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, they find peace, and in the Court of the Lord, they are exalted. ||4||11||

Sathigur Saevae Thaa Sehaj Dhhun Oupajai Gath Math Thadh Hee Paaeae ||
सतिगुर सेवे ता सहज धुनि उपजै गति मति तद ही पाए ॥
Serving the True Guru, the divine melody wells up within, and one is blessed with wisdom and salvation.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੧॥
Har Kaa Naam Sachaa Man Vasiaa Naamae Naam Samaaeae ||1||
हरि का नामु सचा मनि वसिआ नामे नामि समाए ॥१॥
The True Name of the Lord comes to abide in the mind, and through the Name, one merges in the Name. ||1||
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਬਉਰਾਨਾ ॥
Bin Sathigur Sabh Jag Bouraanaa ||
बिनु सतिगुर सभु जगु बउराना ॥
Without the True Guru, the whole world is insane.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਝੂਠੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਨਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Manamukh Andhhaa Sabadh N Jaanai Jhoothai Bharam Bhulaanaa || Rehaao ||
मनमुखि अंधा सबदु न जाणै झूठै भरमि भुलाना ॥ रहाउ ॥
The blind, self-willed manmukhs do not realize the Word of the Shabad; they are deluded by false doubts. ||Pause||
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮਾਇਆ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਹਉਮੈ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
Thrai Gun Maaeiaa Bharam Bhulaaeiaa Houmai Bandhhan Kamaaeae ||
त्रै गुण माइआ भरमि भुलाइआ हउमै बंधन कमाए ॥
The three-faced Maya had led them astray in doubt, and they are snared by the noose of egotism.

जमणु मरणु सिर ऊपरि ऊभउ गरभ जोनि दुखु पाए ॥२॥
Birth and death hang over their heads, and being reborn from the womb, they suffer in pain. ||2||
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥
Thrai Gun Varathehi Sagal Sansaaraa Houmai Vich Path Khoee ||
त्रै गुण वरतहि सगल संसारा हउमै विचि पति खोई ॥
The three qualities permeate the whole world; acting in ego, it loses its honor.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਚਉਥਾ ਪਦੁ ਚੀਨੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥੩॥
Guramukh Hovai Chouthhaa Padh Cheenai Raam Naam Sukh Hoee ||3||
गुरमुखि होवै चउथा पदु चीनै राम नामि सुखु होई ॥३॥
But one who becomes Gurmukh comes to realize the fourth state of celestial bliss; he finds peace through the Name of the Lord. ||3||

त्रै गुण सभि तेरे तू आपे करता जो तू करहि सु होई ॥
The three qualities are all Yours, O Lord; You Yourself created them. Whatever You do, comes to pass.

O Nanak, through the Lord's Name, one is emancipated; through the Shabad, he is rid of egotism. ||4||12||

आपे आपि वरतदा पिआरा आपे आपि अपाहु ॥
My Beloved Lord Himself pervades and permeates all; He Himself is, all by Himself.
ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਜਗੁ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ॥

वणजारा जगु आपि है पिआरा आपे साचा साहु ॥
My Beloved Himself is the trader in this world; He Himself is the true banker.

जपि मन हरि हरि नामु सलाह ॥

ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Gur Kirapaa Thae Paaeeai Piaaraa Anmrith Agam Athhaah || Rehaao ||
गुर किरपा ते पाईऐ पिआरा अम्रितु अगम अथाह ॥ रहाउ ॥
By Guru's Grace, the Beloved, Ambrosial, unapproachable and unfathomable Lord is obtained. ||Pause||
ਆਪੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਸਭ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲੇ ਆਪਿ ਮੁਹਾਹੁ ॥

आपे सुणि सभ वेखदा पिआरा मुखि बोले आपि मुहाहु ॥
The Beloved Himself sees and hears everything; He Himself speaks through the mouths of all beings.
ਆਪੇ ਉਝੜਿ ਪਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪਿ ਵਿਖਾਲੇ ਰਾਹੁ ॥
Aapae Oujharr Paaeidhaa Piaaraa Aap Vikhaalae Raahu ||
आपे उझड़ि पाइदा पिआरा आपि विखाले राहु ॥
The Beloved Himself leads us into the wilderness, and He Himself shows us the Way.
ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਸਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ॥੨॥
Aapae Hee Sabh Aap Hai Piaaraa Aapae Vaeparavaahu ||2||
आपे ही सभु आपि है पिआरा आपे वेपरवाहु ॥२॥
The Beloved Himself is Himself all-in-all; He Himself is carefree. ||2||

आपे आपि उपाइदा पिआरा सिरि आपे धंधड़ै लाहु ॥
The Beloved Himself, all by Himself, created everything; He Himself links all to their tasks.
ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਸਾਖਤੀ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਹੁ ॥
Aap Karaaeae Saakhathee Piaaraa Aap Maarae Mar Jaahu ||
आपि कराए साखती पिआरा आपि मारे मरि जाहु ॥
The Beloved Himself creates the Creation, and He Himself destroys it.
ਆਪੇ ਪਤਣੁ ਪਾਤਣੀ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਹੁ ॥੩॥
Aapae Pathan Paathanee Piaaraa Aapae Paar Langhaahu ||3||
आपे पतणु पातणी पिआरा आपे पारि लंघाहु ॥३॥
He Himself is the wharf, and He Himself is the ferryman, who ferries us across. ||3||

आपे सागरु बोहिथा पिआरा गुरु खेवटु आपि चलाहु ॥
The Beloved Himself is the ocean, and the boat; He Himself is the Guru, the boatman who steers it
ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਚੜਿ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਚੋਜ ਵੇਖੈ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ॥
Aapae Hee Charr Langhadhaa Piaaraa Kar Choj Vaekhai Paathisaahu ||
आपे ही चड़ि लंघदा पिआरा करि चोज वेखै पातिसाहु ॥
. The Beloved Himself sets sail and crosses over; He, the King, beholds His wondrous play.

आपे अंडज जेरज सेतज उतभुज आपे खंड आपे सभ लोइ ॥
He Himself is born of the egg, from the womb, from sweat and from the earth; He Himself is the continents and all the worlds.
ਆਪੇ ਸੂਤੁ ਆਪੇ ਬਹੁ ਮਣੀਆ ਕਰਿ ਸਕਤੀ ਜਗਤੁ ਪਰੋਇ ॥

आपे सूतु आपे बहु मणीआ करि सकती जगतु परोइ ॥
