गुरि तुठै हरि उपदेसिआ हरि भेटिआ राउ निसंङु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The Guru, satisfied and pleased, taught me about the Lord, and my Sovereign Lord King met with me at once. ||1||Pause||
ਮੁੰਧ ਇਆਣੀ ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਅੰਙੁ ॥
Mundhh Eiaanee Manamukhee Fir Aavan Jaanaa Ann(g) ||
मुंध इआणी मनमुखी फिरि आवण जाणा अंङु ॥
The self-willed manmukh is like the ignorant bride, who comes and goes again and again in reincarnation.
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਮਨਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਸਹਲੰਙੁ ॥੨॥
Har Prabh Chith N Aaeiou Man Dhoojaa Bhaao Sehalann(g) ||2||
हरि प्रभु चिति न आइओ मनि दूजा भाउ सहलंङु ॥२॥
The Lord God does not come into her consciousness, and her mind is stuck in the love of duality. ||2||
ਹਮ ਮੈਲੁ ਭਰੇ ਦੁਹਚਾਰੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਅੰਗੀ ਅੰਙੁ ॥
Ham Mail Bharae Dhuhachaareeaa Har Raakhahu Angee Ann(g) ||
हम मैलु भरे दुहचारीआ हरि राखहु अंगी अंङु ॥
I am full of filth, and I practice evil deeds; O Lord, save me, be with me, merge me into Your Being!

The Guru has bathed me in the pool of Ambrosial Nectar, and all my dirty sins and mistakes have been washed away. ||3||

हरि दीना दीन दइआल प्रभु सतसंगति मेलहु संङु ॥
O Lord God, Merciful to the meek and the poor, please unite me with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.

मिलि संगति हरि रंगु पाइआ जन नानक मनि तनि रंङु ॥४॥३॥

Har Har Karehi Nith Kapatt Kamaavehi Hiradhaa Sudhh N Hoee ||
हरि हरि करहि नित कपटु कमावहि हिरदा सुधु न होई ॥
One who chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, while constantly practicing deception, shall never become pure of heart.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥
Anadhin Karam Karehi Bahuthaerae Supanai Sukh N Hoee ||1||
अनदिनु करम करहि बहुतेरे सुपनै सुखु न होई ॥१॥
He may perform all sorts of rituals, night and day, but he shall not find peace, even in dreams. ||1||

गिआनी गुर बिनु भगति न होई ॥

ਜਪੁ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਵਰਤ ਕਰੇ ਪੂਜਾ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
Jap Thap Sanjam Varath Karae Poojaa Manamukh Rog N Jaaee ||
जपु तप संजम वरत करे पूजा मनमुख रोगु न जाई ॥
The self-willed manmukh may perform chants, meditations, austere self-discipline, fasts and devotional worship, but his sickness does not go away.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਹਾ ਅਭਿਮਾਨਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਈ ॥੨॥

अंतरि रोगु महा अभिमाना दूजै भाइ खुआई ॥२॥
Deep within him is the sickness of excessive egotism; in the love of duality he is ruined. ||2||
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੇਖ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਮਨੂਆ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
Baahar Bhaekh Bahuth Chathuraaee Manooaa Dheh Dhis Dhhaavai ||
बाहरि भेख बहुतु चतुराई मनूआ दह दिसि धावै ॥
Outwardly, he wears religious robes and he is very clever, but his mind wanders in the ten directions.
ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਨੀ ਆਵੈ ॥੩॥
Houmai Biaapiaa Sabadh N Cheenhai Fir Fir Joonee Aavai ||3||
हउमै बिआपिआ सबदु न चीन्है फिरि फिरि जूनी आवै ॥३॥
Engrossed in ego, he does not remember the Word of the Shabad; over and over again, he is reincarnated. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
Naanak Nadhar Karae So Boojhai So Jan Naam Dhhiaaeae ||
नानक नदरि करे सो बूझै सो जनु नामु धिआए ॥
O Nanak, that mortal who is blessed with the Lord's Glance of Grace, understands Him; that humble servant meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਏਕੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਏਕਸੁ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੪॥੪॥

गुर परसादी एको बूझै एकसु माहि समाए ॥४॥४॥

सतसंगति मिलि हरि रसु पाई ॥३॥
Joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, I have obtained the subtle essence of the Lord. ||3||
ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
Dhhur Masathak Laekh Likhae Har Paaee ||
धुरि मसतकि लेख लिखे हरि पाई ॥
By the pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon my forehead, I have found the Lord.

गुरमुखि हरि हरि नामि समाए ॥१॥
The Gurmukh merges in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣੇ ॥
Har Rang Raathaa Man Rang Maanae ||
हरि रंगि राता मनु रंग माणे ॥
Imbued with the Lord's Love, the mortal enjoys the pleasure of His Love.
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤੀ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sadhaa Anandh Rehai Dhin Raathee Poorae Gur Kai Sabadh Samaanae ||1|| Rehaao ||
सदा अनंदि रहै दिन राती पूरे गुर कै सबदि समाणे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
He remains always blissful, day and night, and he merges into the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਕਉ ਲੋਚੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥

हरि रंग कउ लोचै सभु कोई ॥
Everyone longs for the Lord's Love;
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਚਲੂਲਾ ਹੋਈ ॥੨॥

गुरमुखि रंगु चलूला होई ॥२॥
The Gurmukh is imbued with the deep red color of His Love. ||2||
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਨਰੁ ਕੋਰਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Manamukh Mugadhh Nar Koraa Hoe ||
मनमुखि मुगधु नरु कोरा होइ ॥
The foolish, self-willed manmukh is left pale and uncolored.
