गुर परसादी को विरला छूटै तिसु जन कउ हउ बलिहारी ॥३॥
By Guru's Grace, a few rare ones are saved; I am a sacrifice to those humble beings. ||3||

Jin Sisatt Saajee Soee Har Jaanai Thaa Kaa Roop Apaaro ||
जिनि सिसटि साजी सोई हरि जाणै ता का रूपु अपारो ॥
The One who created the Universe, that Lord alone knows. His beauty is incomparable.

O Nanak, the Lord Himself gazes upon it, and is pleased. The Gurmukh contemplates God. ||4||3||14||

ਕੀਤਾ ਕਰਣਾ ਸਰਬ ਰਜਾਈ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਚੈ ਜੇ ਕਰਿ ਸਕੀਐ ॥
Keethaa Karanaa Sarab Rajaaee Kishh Keechai Jae Kar Sakeeai ||
कीता करणा सरब रजाई किछु कीचै जे करि सकीऐ ॥
All that happens, and all that will happen, is by His Will. If we could do something by ourselves, we would.
ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੀਐ ॥੧॥
Aapanaa Keethaa Kishhoo N Hovai Jio Har Bhaavai Thio Rakheeai ||1||
आपणा कीता किछू न होवै जिउ हरि भावै तिउ रखीऐ ॥१॥
By ourselves, we cannot do anything at all. As it pleases the Lord, He preserves us. ||1||

Maerae Har Jeeo Sabh Ko Thaerai Vas ||
मेरे हरि जीउ सभु को तेरै वसि ॥
O my Dear Lord, everything is in Your power.
ਅਸਾ ਜੋਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਿ ਹਮ ਸਾਕਹ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਬਖਸਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

असा जोरु नाही जे किछु करि हम साकह जिउ भावै तिवै बखसि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
I have no power to do anything at all. As it pleases You, You forgive us. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਦੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
Sabh Jeeo Pindd Dheeaa Thudhh Aapae Thudhh Aapae Kaarai Laaeiaa ||
सभु जीउ पिंडु दीआ तुधु आपे तुधु आपे कारै लाइआ ॥
You Yourself bless us with soul, body and everything. You Yourself cause us to act.
ਜੇਹਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੇਹੇ ਕੋ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਜੇਹਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
Jaehaa Thoon Hukam Karehi Thaehae Ko Karam Kamaavai Jaehaa Thudhh Dhhur Likh Paaeiaa ||2||
जेहा तूं हुकमु करहि तेहे को करम कमावै जेहा तुधु धुरि लिखि पाइआ ॥२॥
As You issue Your Commands, so do we act, according to our pre-ordained destiny. ||2||
ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੀ ਕੋਈ ਛੇਵਾ ਕਰਿਉ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
Panch Thath Kar Thudhh Srisatt Sabh Saajee Koee Shhaevaa Kario Jae Kishh Keethaa Hovai ||
पंच ततु करि तुधु स्रिसटि सभ साजी कोई छेवा करिउ जे किछु कीता होवै ॥
You created the entire Universe out of the five elements; if anyone can create a sixth, let him.
ਇਕਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਬੁਝਾਵਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਿ ਰੋਵੈ ॥੩॥
Eikanaa Sathigur Mael Thoon Bujhaavehi Eik Manamukh Karehi S Rovai ||3||
इकना सतिगुरु मेलि तूं बुझावहि इकि मनमुखि करहि सि रोवै ॥३॥
You unite some with the True Guru, and cause them to understand, while others, the self-willed manmukhs, do their deeds and cry out in pain. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਉ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਾ ਹਉ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਨੀਚਾਣੁ ॥
Har Kee Vaddiaaee Ho Aakh N Saakaa Ho Moorakh Mugadhh Neechaan ||
हरि की वडिआई हउ आखि न साका हउ मूरखु मुगधु नीचाणु ॥
I cannot describe the glorious greatness of the Lord; I am foolish, thoughtless, idiotic and lowly.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਪਇਆ ਅਜਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੫॥੨੪॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਬਾਜੀਗਰਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਜੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
Baajeegar Jaisae Baajee Paaee ||
बाजीगरि जैसे बाजी पाई ॥
The actor stages the play,
ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਭੇਖ ਦਿਖਲਾਈ ॥
Naanaa Roop Bhaekh Dhikhalaaee ||
नाना रूप भेख दिखलाई ॥
Playing the many characters in different costumes;
ਸਾਂਗੁ ਉਤਾਰਿ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਓ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
Saang Outhaar Thhanmihou Paasaaraa ||
सांगु उतारि थम्हिओ पासारा ॥
But when the play ends, he takes off the costumes,
ਤਬ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
Thab Eaeko Eaekankaaraa ||1||
तब एको एकंकारा ॥१॥
And then he is one, and only one. ||1||
ਕਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਓ ਬਿਨਸਾਇਓ ॥

कवन रूप द्रिसटिओ बिनसाइओ ॥
How many forms and images appeared and disappeared?
ਕਤਹਿ ਗਇਓ ਉਹੁ ਕਤ ਤੇ ਆਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Kathehi Gaeiou Ouhu Kath Thae Aaeiou ||1|| Rehaao ||
कतहि गइओ उहु कत ते आइओ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Where have they gone? Where did they come from? ||1||Pause||
ਜਲ ਤੇ ਊਠਹਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥
Jal Thae Oothehi Anik Tharangaa ||
जल ते ऊठहि अनिक तरंगा ॥
Countless waves rise up from the water.
ਕਨਿਕ ਭੂਖਨ ਕੀਨੇ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
Kanik Bhookhan Keenae Bahu Rangaa ||
कनिक भूखन कीने बहु रंगा ॥
Jewels and ornaments of many different forms are fashioned from gold.
ਬੀਜੁ ਬੀਜਿ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰਾ ॥
Beej Beej Dhaekhiou Bahu Parakaaraa ||
बीजु बीजि देखिओ बहु परकारा ॥
I have seen seeds of all kinds being planted
ਫਲ ਪਾਕੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
Fal Paakae Thae Eaekankaaraa ||2||
फल पाके ते एकंकारा ॥२॥
- when the fruit ripens, the seeds appear in the same form as the original. ||2||
ਸਹਸ ਘਟਾ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥
Sehas Ghattaa Mehi Eaek Aakaas ||
सहस घटा महि एकु आकासु ॥
The one sky is reflected in thousands of water jugs,
ਘਟ ਫੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਓਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
Ghatt Foottae Thae Ouhee Pragaas ||
घट फूटे ते ओही प्रगासु ॥
But when the jugs are broken, only the sky remains.
ਭਰਮ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
Bharam Lobh Moh Maaeiaa Vikaar ||
भरम लोभ मोह माइआ विकार ॥
Doubt comes from greed, emotional attachment and the corruption of Maya.
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਛੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
Bhram Shhoottae Thae Eaekankaar ||3||
भ्रम छूटे ते एकंकार ॥३॥
Freed from doubt, one realizes the One Lord alone. ||3||
ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Ouhu Abinaasee Binasath Naahee ||
ओहु अबिनासी बिनसत नाही ॥
He is imperishable; He will never pass away.
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
Naa Ko Aavai Naa Ko Jaahee ||
ना को आवै ना को जाही ॥
He does not come, and He does not go.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਈ ॥
Gur Poorai Houmai Mal Dhhoee ||
गुरि पूरै हउमै मलु धोई ॥
The Perfect Guru has washed away the filth of ego.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੧॥

कहु नानक मेरी परम गति होई ॥४॥१॥
Says Nanak, I have obtained the supreme status. ||4||1||

Soohee, Fifth Mehl:
ਕੀਤਾ ਲੋੜਹਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਇ ॥
Keethaa Lorrehi So Prabh Hoe ||
कीता लोड़हि सो प्रभ होइ ॥
Whatever God wills, that alone happens.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
Thujh Bin Dhoojaa Naahee Koe ||
तुझ बिनु दूजा नाही कोइ ॥
Without You, there is no other at all.
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਜ ॥
Jo Jan Saevae This Pooran Kaaj ||
जो जनु सेवे तिसु पूरन काज ॥
The humble being serves Him, and so all his works are perfectly successful.
ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ॥੧॥

दास अपुने की राखहु लाज ॥१॥
O Lord, please preserve the honor of Your slaves. ||1||
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
Thaeree Saran Pooran Dhaeiaalaa ||
तेरी सरणि पूरन दइआला ॥
I seek Your Sanctuary, O Perfect, Merciful Lord.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਵਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Thujh Bin Kavan Karae Prathipaalaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
तुझ बिनु कवनु करे प्रतिपाला ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Without You, who would cherish and love me? ||1||Pause||
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
Jal Thhal Meheeal Rehiaa Bharapoor ||
जलि थलि महीअलि रहिआ भरपूरि ॥
He is permeating and pervading the water, the land and the sky.
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
Nikatt Vasai Naahee Prabh Dhoor ||
निकटि वसै नाही प्रभु दूरि ॥
God dwells near at hand; He is not far away.
ਲੋਕ ਪਤੀਆਰੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
Lok Patheeaarai Kashhoo N Paaeeai ||
लोक पतीआरै कछू न पाईऐ ॥
By trying to please other people, nothing is accomplished.
ਸਾਚਿ ਲਗੈ ਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
Saach Lagai Thaa Houmai Jaaeeai ||2||
साचि लगै ता हउमै जाईऐ ॥२॥
When someone is attached to the True Lord, his ego is taken away. ||2||
