गिआन रतनु अंतरि तिसु जागै ॥
The jewel of spiritual wisdom is awakened deep within.
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
Dhuramath Jaae Param Padh Paaeae ||
दुरमति जाइ परम पदु पाए ॥
Evil-mindedness is eradicated, and the supreme status is attained.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥੩॥
Gur Parasaadhee Naam Dhhiaaeae ||3||
गुर परसादी नामु धिआए ॥३॥
By Guru's Grace, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਦੁਇ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਕਰਉ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥

दुइ कर जोड़ि करउ अरदासि ॥
Pressing my palms together, I offer my prayer;
ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਆਣਹਿ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
Thudhh Bhaavai Thaa Aanehi Raas ||
तुधु भावै ता आणहि रासि ॥
If it pleases You, Lord, please bless me and fulfill me.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਪਨੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਇ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Apanee Bhagathee Laae ||
करि किरपा अपनी भगती लाइ ॥
Grant Your Mercy, Lord, and bless me with devotion.

धनु सोहागनि जो प्रभू पछानै ॥
Blessed is that soul-bride, who realizes God.
ਮਾਨੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤਜੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੈ ॥
Maanai Hukam Thajai Abhimaanai ||
मानै हुकमु तजै अभिमानै ॥
She obeys the Hukam of His Order, and abandons her self-conceit.
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਤੀ ਰਲੀਆ ਮਾਨੈ ॥੧॥
Pria Sio Raathee Raleeaa Maanai ||1||
प्रिअ सिउ राती रलीआ मानै ॥१॥
Imbued with her Beloved, she celebrates in delight. ||1||
ਸੁਨਿ ਸਖੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਣ ਨੀਸਾਨੀ ॥

सुनि सखीए प्रभ मिलण नीसानी ॥
Listen, O my companions - these are the signs on the Path to meet God.

Dedicate your mind and body to Him; stop living to please others. ||1||Pause||

Sakhee Sehaelee Ko Samajhaavai ||
सखी सहेली कउ समझावै ॥
One soul-bride counsels another,
ਸੋਈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
Soee Kamaavai Jo Prabh Bhaavai ||
सोई कमावै जो प्रभ भावै ॥
To do only that which pleases God.
ਸਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
Saa Sohaagan Ank Samaavai ||2||
सा सोहागणि अंकि समावै ॥२॥
Such a soul-bride merges into the Being of God. ||2||
ਗਰਬਿ ਗਹੇਲੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
Garab Gehaelee Mehal N Paavai ||
गरबि गहेली महलु न पावै ॥
One who is in the grip of pride does not obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਵੈ ਜਬ ਰੈਣਿ ਬਿਹਾਵੈ ॥
Fir Pashhuthaavai Jab Rain Bihaavai ||
फिरि पछुतावै जब रैणि बिहावै ॥
She regrets and repents, when her life-night passes away.
ਕਰਮਹੀਣਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
Karameheen Manamukh Dhukh Paavai ||3||
करमहीणि मनमुखि दुखु पावै ॥३॥
The unfortunate self-willed manmukhs suffer in pain. ||3||
ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰੀ ਜੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
Bino Karee Jae Jaanaa Dhoor ||
बिनउ करी जे जाणा दूरि ॥
I pray to God, but I think that He is far away.
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
Prabh Abinaasee Rehiaa Bharapoor ||
प्रभु अबिनासी रहिआ भरपूरि ॥
God is imperishable and eternal; He is pervading and permeating everywhere.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥੪॥੩॥

Grihu Vas Gur Keenaa Ho Ghar Kee Naar ||
ग्रिहु वसि गुरि कीना हउ घर की नारि ॥
The Giver has put this household of my being under my own control. I am now the mistress of the Lord's Home.
ਦਸ ਦਾਸੀ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੀ ਭਤਾਰਿ ॥
Dhas Dhaasee Kar Dheenee Bhathaar ||
दस दासी करि दीनी भतारि ॥
My Husband Lord has made the ten senses and organs of actions my slaves.
ਸਗਲ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਮੈ ਘਰ ਕੀ ਜੋੜੀ ॥
Sagal Samagree Mai Ghar Kee Jorree ||
सगल समग्री मै घर की जोड़ी ॥
I have gathered together all the faculties and facilities of this house.

आस पिआसी पिर कउ लोड़ी ॥१॥
I am thirsty with desire and longing for my Husband Lord. ||1||

सतु सीगारु भउ अंजनु पाइआ ॥
I am adorned with Truth, and I have applied the mascara of the Fear of God to my eyes.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੰਬੋਲੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਖਾਇਆ ॥

अम्रित नामु त्मबोलु मुखि खाइआ ॥
I have chewed the betel-leaf of the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਕੰਗਨ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਗਹਨੇ ਬਨੇ ਸੁਹਾਵੇ ॥
Kangan Basathr Gehanae Banae Suhaavae ||
कंगन बसत्र गहने बने सुहावे ॥
My bracelets, robes and ornaments beautifully adorn me.
ਧਨ ਸਭ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਾਂ ਪਿਰੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥
Dhhan Sabh Sukh Paavai Jaan Pir Ghar Aavai ||2||
धन सभ सुख पावै जां पिरु घरि आवै ॥२॥
The soul-bride becomes totally happy, when her Husband Lord comes to her home. ||2||
ਗੁਣ ਕਾਮਣ ਕਰਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਰੀਝਾਇਆ ॥
Gun Kaaman Kar Kanth Reejhaaeiaa ||
गुण कामण करि कंतु रीझाइआ ॥
By the charms of virtue, I have enticed and fascinated my Husband Lord.
ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
Vas Kar Leenaa Gur Bharam Chukaaeiaa ||
वसि करि लीना गुरि भरमु चुकाइआ ॥
He is under my power - the Guru has dispelled my doubts.
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
Sabh Thae Oochaa Mandhar Maeraa ||
सभ ते ऊचा मंदरु मेरा ॥
My mansion is lofty and elevated.
ਸਭ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੩॥
Sabh Kaaman Thiaagee Prio Preetham Maeraa ||3||
सभ कामणि तिआगी प्रिउ प्रीतमु मेरा ॥३॥
Renouncing all other brides, my Beloved has become my lover. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਸੂਰੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ॥
Pragattiaa Soor Joth Oujeeaaraa ||
प्रगटिआ सूरु जोति उजीआरा ॥
The sun has risen, and its light shines brightly.
ਸੇਜ ਵਿਛਾਈ ਸਰਧ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
Saej Vishhaaee Saradhh Apaaraa ||
सेज विछाई सरध अपारा ॥
I have prepared my bed with infinite care and faith.
ਨਵ ਰੰਗ ਲਾਲੁ ਸੇਜ ਰਾਵਣ ਆਇਆ ॥
Nav Rang Laal Saej Raavan Aaeiaa ||
नव रंग लालु सेज रावण आइआ ॥
My Darling Beloved is new and fresh; He has come to my bed to enjoy me.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਰ ਧਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੪॥

जन नानक पिर धन मिलि सुखु पाइआ ॥४॥४॥
O Servant Nanak, my Husband Lord has come; the soul-bride has found peace. ||4||4||

I have gone out searching to find my Beloved Husband Lord.

Sunath Sadhaesaro Pria Grihi Saej Vishhaaee ||
सुनत सदेसरो प्रिअ ग्रिहि सेज विछाई ॥
Hearing news of my Beloved, I have laid out my bed in my home.

भ्रमि भ्रमि आइओ तउ नदरि न पाई ॥१॥
Wandering, wandering all around, I came, but I did not even see Him. ||1||

एका सेज विछी धन कंता ॥
One bed is spread out for the bride and her Husband Lord.
ਧਨ ਸੂਤੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਸਦ ਜਾਗੰਤਾ ॥
Dhhan Soothee Pir Sadh Jaaganthaa ||
धन सूती पिरु सद जागंता ॥
The bride is asleep, while her Husband Lord is always awake.
ਪੀਓ ਮਦਰੋ ਧਨ ਮਤਵੰਤਾ ॥
Peeou Madharo Dhhan Mathavanthaa ||
पीओ मदरो धन मतवंता ॥
The bride is intoxicated, as if she has drunk wine.
ਧਨ ਜਾਗੈ ਜੇ ਪਿਰੁ ਬੋਲੰਤਾ ॥੨॥
Dhhan Jaagai Jae Pir Bolanthaa ||2||
धन जागै जे पिरु बोलंता ॥२॥
The soul-bride only awakens when her Husband Lord calls to her. ||2||
ਭਈ ਨਿਰਾਸੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦਿਨ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
Bhee Niraasee Bahuth Dhin Laagae ||
भई निरासी बहुतु दिन लागे ॥
She has lost hope - so many days have passed.
ਦੇਸ ਦਿਸੰਤਰ ਮੈ ਸਗਲੇ ਝਾਗੇ ॥
Dhaes Dhisanthar Mai Sagalae Jhaagae ||
देस दिसंतर मै सगले झागे ॥
I have travelled through all the lands and the countries.
