किनही कहिआ बाह बहु भाई ॥
Some say that they have the arms of their many brothers to protect them.
ਕੋਈ ਕਹੈ ਮੈ ਧਨਹਿ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
Koee Kehai Mai Dhhanehi Pasaaraa ||
कोई कहै मै धनहि पसारा ॥
Some say that they have great expanses of wealth.
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਧਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
Mohi Dheen Har Har Aadhhaaraa ||4||
मोहि दीन हरि हरि आधारा ॥४॥
I am meek; I have the support of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਘੂਘਰ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਕਰਾਈ ॥
Kinehee Ghooghar Nirath Karaaee ||
किनही घूघर निरति कराई ॥
Some dance, wearing ankle bells.
ਕਿਨਹੂ ਵਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਮਾਲਾ ਪਾਈ ॥
Kinehoo Varath Naem Maalaa Paaee ||
किनहू वरत नेम माला पाई ॥
Some fast and take vows, and wear malas.
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਤਿਲਕੁ ਗੋਪੀ ਚੰਦਨ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
Kinehee Thilak Gopee Chandhan Laaeiaa ||
किनही तिलकु गोपी चंदन लाइआ ॥
Some apply ceremonial tilak marks to their foreheads.
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੫॥
Mohi Dheen Har Har Har Dhhiaaeiaa ||5||
मोहि दीन हरि हरि हरि धिआइआ ॥५॥
I am meek; I meditate on the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||5||
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਸਿਧ ਬਹੁ ਚੇਟਕ ਲਾਏ ॥
Kinehee Sidhh Bahu Chaettak Laaeae ||
किनही सिध बहु चेटक लाए ॥
Some work spells using the miraculous spiritual powers of the Siddhas.
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਭੇਖ ਬਹੁ ਥਾਟ ਬਨਾਏ ॥
Kinehee Bhaekh Bahu Thhaatt Banaaeae ||
किनही भेख बहु थाट बनाए ॥
Some wear various religious robes and establish their authority.
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਤੰਤ ਮੰਤ ਬਹੁ ਖੇਵਾ ॥
Kinehee Thanth Manth Bahu Khaevaa ||
किनही तंत मंत बहु खेवा ॥
Some perform Tantric spells, and chant various mantras.
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੬॥
Mohi Dheen Har Har Har Saevaa ||6||
मोहि दीन हरि हरि हरि सेवा ॥६॥
I am meek; I serve the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||6||
ਕੋਈ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਕਹਾਵੈ ਪੰਡਿਤ ॥
Koee Chathur Kehaavai Panddith ||
कोई चतुरु कहावै पंडित ॥
One calls himself a wise Pandit, a religious scholar.
ਕੋ ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮ ਸਹਿਤ ਸਿਉ ਮੰਡਿਤ ॥
Ko Khatt Karam Sehith Sio Manddith ||
को खटु करम सहित सिउ मंडित ॥
One performs the six rituals to appease Shiva.
ਕੋਈ ਕਰੈ ਆਚਾਰ ਸੁਕਰਣੀ ॥
Koee Karai Aachaar Sukaranee ||
कोई करै आचार सुकरणी ॥
One maintains the rituals of pure lifestyle, and does good deeds.
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣੀ ॥੭॥

मोहि दीन हरि हरि हरि सरणी ॥७॥
I am meek; I seek the Sanctuary of the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||7||
ਸਗਲੇ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਜੁਗ ਸੋਧੇ ॥
Sagalae Karam Dhharam Jug Sodhhae ||
सगले करम धरम जुग सोधे ॥
I have studied the religions and rituals of all the ages.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧੇ ॥
Bin Naavai Eihu Man N Prabodhhae ||
बिनु नावै इहु मनु न प्रबोधे ॥
Without the Name, this mind is not awakened.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਉ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

कहु नानक जउ साधसंगु पाइआ ॥
Says Nanak, when I found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy,
ਬੂਝੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਹਾ ਸੀਤਲਾਇਆ ॥੮॥੧॥

बूझी त्रिसना महा सीतलाइआ ॥८॥१॥
My thirsty desires were satisfied, and I was totally cooled and soothed. ||8||1||

Eis Paanee Thae Jin Thoo Ghariaa ||
इसु पानी ते जिनि तू घरिआ ॥
He created you out of this water.
ਮਾਟੀ ਕਾ ਲੇ ਦੇਹੁਰਾ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
Maattee Kaa Lae Dhaehuraa Kariaa ||
माटी का ले देहुरा करिआ ॥
From clay, He fashioned your body.
ਉਕਤਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਲੈ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਪਰੀਖਿਆ ॥
Oukath Joth Lai Surath Pareekhiaa ||
उकति जोति लै सुरति परीखिआ ॥
He blessed you with the light of reason and clear consciousness.
ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥੧॥
Maath Garabh Mehi Jin Thoo Raakhiaa ||1||
मात गरभ महि जिनि तू राखिआ ॥१॥
In your mother's womb, He preserved you. ||1||
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਰਿ ਜਨਾ ॥
Raakhanehaar Samhaar Janaa ||
राखनहारु सम्हारि जना ॥
Contemplate your Savior Lord.

सगले छोडि बीचार मना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Give up all others thoughts, O mind. ||1||Pause||

जिनि दीए तुधु बाप महतारी ॥
He gave you your mother and father;
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਏ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਪੁਤ ਹਾਰੀ ॥
Jin Dheeeae Bhraath Puth Haaree ||
जिनि दीए भ्रात पुत हारी ॥
He gave you your charming children and siblings;
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਏ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਅਰੁ ਮੀਤਾ ॥
Jin Dheeeae Thudhh Banithaa Ar Meethaa ||
जिनि दीए तुधु बनिता अरु मीता ॥
He gave you your spouse and friends;
ਤਿਸੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਉ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਚੀਤਾ ॥੨॥
This Thaakur Ko Rakh Laehu Cheethaa ||2||
तिसु ठाकुर कउ रखि लेहु चीता ॥२॥
Enshrine that Lord and Master in your consciousness. ||2||
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਪਵਨੁ ਅਮੋਲਾ ॥
Jin Dheeaa Thudhh Pavan Amolaa ||
जिनि दीआ तुधु पवनु अमोला ॥
He gave you the invaluable air;
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਨੀਰੁ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਾ ॥
Jin Dheeaa Thudhh Neer Niramolaa ||
जिनि दीआ तुधु नीरु निरमोला ॥
He gave you the priceless water;
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਬਲਨਾ ॥
Jin Dheeaa Thudhh Paavak Balanaa ||
जिनि दीआ तुधु पावकु बलना ॥
He gave you burning fire;
ਤਿਸੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੀ ਰਹੁ ਮਨ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੩॥
This Thaakur Kee Rahu Man Saranaa ||3||
तिसु ठाकुर की रहु मन सरना ॥३॥
Let your mind remain in the Sanctuary of that Lord and Master. ||3||
ਛਤੀਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਜਿਨਿ ਭੋਜਨ ਦੀਏ ॥
Shhatheeh Anmrith Jin Bhojan Dheeeae ||
छतीह अम्रित जिनि भोजन दीए ॥
He gave you the thirty-six varieties of tasty foods;
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਥਾਨ ਠਹਰਾਵਨ ਕਉ ਕੀਏ ॥
Anthar Thhaan Theharaavan Ko Keeeae ||
अंतरि थान ठहरावन कउ कीए ॥
He gave you a place within to hold them;
ਬਸੁਧਾ ਦੀਓ ਬਰਤਨਿ ਬਲਨਾ ॥
Basudhhaa Dheeou Barathan Balanaa ||
बसुधा दीओ बरतनि बलना ॥
He gave you the earth, and things to use;
ਤਿਸੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਿਤਿ ਰਖੁ ਚਰਨਾ ॥੪॥
This Thaakur Kae Chith Rakh Charanaa ||4||
तिसु ठाकुर के चिति रखु चरना ॥४॥
Enshrine in your consciousness the feet of that Lord and Master. ||4||
ਪੇਖਨ ਕਉ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਸੁਨਨ ਕਉ ਕਰਨਾ ॥
Paekhan Ko Naethr Sunan Ko Karanaa ||
पेखन कउ नेत्र सुनन कउ करना ॥
He gave you eyes to see, and ears to hear;
ਹਸਤ ਕਮਾਵਨ ਬਾਸਨ ਰਸਨਾ ॥
Hasath Kamaavan Baasan Rasanaa ||
हसत कमावन बासन रसना ॥
He gave you hands to work with, and a nose and a tongue;
ਚਰਨ ਚਲਨ ਕਉ ਸਿਰੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
Charan Chalan Ko Sir Keeno Maeraa ||
चरन चलन कउ सिरु कीनो मेरा ॥
He gave you feet to walk upon, and the crowning glory of your head;
ਮਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੂਜਹੁ ਪੈਰਾ ॥੫॥

मन तिसु ठाकुर के पूजहु पैरा ॥५॥
O mind, worship the Feet of that Lord and Master. ||5||
ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
Apavithr Pavithra Jin Thoo Kariaa ||
अपवित्र पवित्रु जिनि तू करिआ ॥
He transformed you from impure to pure;
ਸਗਲ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਤੂ ਸਿਰਿ ਧਰਿਆ ॥
Sagal Jon Mehi Thoo Sir Dhhariaa ||
सगल जोनि महि तू सिरि धरिआ ॥
He installed you above the heads of all creatures;
ਅਬ ਤੂ ਸੀਝੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਨਹੀ ਸੀਝੈ ॥
Ab Thoo Seejh Bhaavai Nehee Seejhai ||
अब तू सीझु भावै नही सीझै ॥
Now, you may fulfill your destiny or not;
ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਵਰੈ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਈਜੈ ॥੬॥
Kaaraj Savarai Man Prabh Dhhiaaeejai ||6||
कारजु सवरै मन प्रभु धिआईजै ॥६॥
Your affairs shall be resolved, O mind, meditating on God. ||6||
ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਏਕੈ ਓਹੀ ॥
Eehaa Oohaa Eaekai Ouhee ||
ईहा ऊहा एकै ओही ॥
Here and there, only the One God exists.
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਤਤ ਤਤ ਤੋਹੀ ॥
Jath Kath Dhaekheeai Thath Thath Thohee ||
जत कत देखीऐ तत तत तोही ॥
Wherever I look, there You are.
ਤਿਸੁ ਸੇਵਤ ਮਨਿ ਆਲਸੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
This Saevath Man Aalas Karai ||
तिसु सेवत मनि आलसु करै ॥
My mind is reluctant to serve Him;
ਜਿਸੁ ਵਿਸਰਿਐ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਸਰੈ ॥੭॥
Jis Visariai Eik Nimakh N Sarai ||7||
जिसु विसरिऐ इक निमख न सरै ॥७॥
Forgetting Him, I cannot survive, even for an instant. ||7||
ਹਮ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੀਆਰੇ ॥
Ham Aparaadhhee Niraguneeaarae ||
हम अपराधी निरगुनीआरे ॥
I am a sinner, without any virtue at all.
ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਮਾਰੇ ॥
Naa Kishh Saevaa Naa Karamaarae ||
ना किछु सेवा ना करमारे ॥
I do not serve You, or do any good deeds.
ਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਿਲਿਆ ॥
Gur Bohithh Vaddabhaagee Miliaa ||
गुरु बोहिथु वडभागी मिलिआ ॥
By great good fortune, I have found the boat - the Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਥਰ ਤਰਿਆ ॥੮॥੨॥
Naanak Dhaas Sang Paathhar Thariaa ||8||2||
नानक दास संगि पाथर तरिआ ॥८॥२॥
Slave Nanak has crossed over, with Him. ||8||2||
