Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਹਜੈ ਦਾ ਖੇਤੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਾਏ ਭਾਉ ॥
Sathigur Sehajai Dhaa Khaeth Hai Jis No Laaeae Bhaao ||
सतिगुरु सहजै दा खेतु है जिस नो लाए भाउ ॥
The True Guru is the field of intuitive wisdom. One who is inspired to love Him,
ਨਾਉ ਬੀਜੇ ਨਾਉ ਉਗਵੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
Naao Beejae Naao Ougavai Naamae Rehai Samaae ||
नाउ बीजे नाउ उगवै नामे रहै समाइ ॥
Plants the seed of the Name there. The Name sprouts up, and he remains absorbed in the Name.
ਹਉਮੈ ਏਹੋ ਬੀਜੁ ਹੈ ਸਹਸਾ ਗਇਆ ਵਿਲਾਇ ॥
Houmai Eaeho Beej Hai Sehasaa Gaeiaa Vilaae ||
हउमै एहो बीजु है सहसा गइआ विलाइ ॥
But this egotism is the seed of skepticism; it has been uprooted.
ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਬੀਜੇ ਨ ਉਗਵੈ ਜੋ ਬਖਸੇ ਸੋ ਖਾਇ ॥
Naa Kishh Beejae N Ougavai Jo Bakhasae So Khaae ||
ना किछु बीजे न उगवै जो बखसे सो खाइ ॥
It is not planted there, and it does not sprout; whatever God grants us, we eat.
ਅੰਭੈ ਸੇਤੀ ਅੰਭੁ ਰਲਿਆ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਨਿਕਸਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
Anbhai Saethee Anbh Raliaa Bahurr N Nikasiaa Jaae ||
अ्मभै सेती अ्मभु रलिआ बहुड़ि न निकसिआ जाइ ॥
When water mixes with water, it cannot be separated again.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਚਲਤੁ ਹੈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਲੋਕਾ ਆਇ ॥
Naanak Guramukh Chalath Hai Vaekhahu Lokaa Aae ||
नानक गुरमुखि चलतु है वेखहु लोका आइ ॥
O Nanak, the Gurmukh is wonderful; come, poeple, and see!
ਲੋਕੁ ਕਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਬਪੁੜਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸੋਝੀ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
Lok K Vaekhai Bapurraa Jis No Sojhee Naahi ||
लोकु कि वेखै बपुड़ा जिस नो सोझी नाहि ॥
But what can the poor people see? They do not understand.
ਜਿਸੁ ਵੇਖਾਲੇ ਸੋ ਵੇਖੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
Jis Vaekhaalae So Vaekhai Jis Vasiaa Man Maahi ||1||
जिसु वेखाले सो वेखै जिसु वसिआ मन माहि ॥१॥
He alone sees, whom the Lord causes to see; the Lord comes to dwell in his mind. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਦੁਖ ਕਾ ਖੇਤੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਬੀਜੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਖਾਇ ॥
Manamukh Dhukh Kaa Khaeth Hai Dhukh Beejae Dhukh Khaae ||
मनमुखु दुख का खेतु है दुखु बीजे दुखु खाइ ॥
The self-willed manmukh is the field of sorrow and suffering. He plains sorrow, and eats sorrow.
ਦੁਖ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਦੁਖਿ ਮਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਤ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
Dhukh Vich Janmai Dhukh Marai Houmai Karath Vihaae ||
दुख विचि जमै दुखि मरै हउमै करत विहाइ ॥
In sorrow he is born, and in sorrow he dies. Acting in egotism, his life passes away.
ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਅੰਧਾ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
Aavan Jaan N Sujhee Andhhaa Andhh Kamaae ||
आवणु जाणु न सुझई अंधा अंधु कमाइ ॥
He does not understand the coming and going of reincarnation; the blind man acts in blindness.
ਜੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਦਿਤੇ ਕਉ ਲਪਟਾਇ ॥
Jo Dhaevai Thisai N Jaanee Dhithae Ko Lapattaae ||
जो देवै तिसै न जाणई दिते कउ लपटाइ ॥
He does not know the One who gives, but he is attached to what is given.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
Naanak Poorab Likhiaa Kamaavanaa Avar N Karanaa Jaae ||2||
नानक पूरबि लिखिआ कमावणा अवरु न करणा जाइ ॥२॥
O Nanak, he acts according to his pre-ordained destiny. He cannot do anything else. ||2||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੋਇ ॥
Sathigur Miliai Sadhaa Sukh Jis No Aapae Maelae Soe ||
सतिगुरि मिलिऐ सदा सुखु जिस नो आपे मेले सोइ ॥
Meeting the True Guru, everlasting peace is obtained. He Himself leads us to meet Him.
ਸੁਖੈ ਏਹੁ ਬਿਬੇਕੁ ਹੈ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sukhai Eaehu Bibaek Hai Anthar Niramal Hoe ||
सुखै एहु बिबेकु है अंतरु निरमलु होइ ॥
This is the true meaning of peace, that one becomes immaculate within oneself.
ਅਗਿਆਨ ਕਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
Agiaan Kaa Bhram Katteeai Giaan Paraapath Hoe ||
अगिआन का भ्रमु कटीऐ गिआनु परापति होइ ॥
The doubt of ignorance is eradicated, and spiritual wisdom is obtained.
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
Naanak Eaeko Nadharee Aaeiaa Jeh Dhaekhaa Theh Soe ||3||
नानक एको नदरी आइआ जह देखा तह सोइ ॥३॥
Nanak comes to gaze upon the One Lord alone; wherever he looks, there He is. ||3||

ਸਚੈ ਤਖਤੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ਬੈਸਣ ਕਉ ਜਾਂਈ ॥
Sachai Thakhath Rachaaeiaa Baisan Ko Jaanee ||
सचै तखतु रचाइआ बैसण कउ जांई ॥
The True Lord created His throne, upon which He sits.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਣਾਈ ॥
Sabh Kishh Aapae Aap Hai Gur Sabadh Sunaaee ||
सभु किछु आपे आपि है गुर सबदि सुणाई ॥
He Himself is everything; this is what the Word of the Guru's Shabad says.
ਆਪੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਸਾਜੀਅਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਹਲ ਸਰਾਈ ॥
Aapae Kudharath Saajeean Kar Mehal Saraaee ||
आपे कुदरति साजीअनु करि महल सराई ॥
Through His almighty creative power, He created and fashioned the mansions and hotels.
ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਦੁਇ ਚਾਨਣੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥
Chandh Sooraj Dhue Chaananae Pooree Banath Banaaee ||
चंदु सूरजु दुइ चानणे पूरी बणत बणाई ॥
He made the two lamps, the sun and the moon; He formed the perfect form.
ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਸੁਣੇ ਆਪਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧॥
Aapae Vaekhai Sunae Aap Gur Sabadh Dhhiaaee ||1||
आपे वेखै सुणे आपि गुर सबदि धिआई ॥१॥
He Himself sees, and He Himself hears; meditate on the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||

Kabeer Mehidhee Kar Kai Ghaaliaa Aap Peesaae Peesaae ||
कबीर महिदी करि कै घालिआ आपु पीसाइ पीसाइ ॥
Kabeer, I have ground myself into henna paste.
ਤੈ ਸਹ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਪੁਛੀਆ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਲਾਈ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
Thai Seh Baath N Pushheeaa Kabehoo N Laaee Paae ||1||
तै सह बात न पुछीआ कबहू न लाई पाइ ॥१॥
O my Husband Lord, You took no notice of me; You never applied me to Your feet. ||1||

Naanak Mehidhee Kar Kai Rakhiaa So Sahu Nadhar Karaee ||
नानक महिदी करि कै रखिआ सो सहु नदरि करेइ ॥
O Nanak, my Husband Lord keeps me like henna paste; He blesses me with His Glance of Grace.
ਆਪੇ ਪੀਸੈ ਆਪੇ ਘਸੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਲਾਇ ਲਏਇ ॥
Aapae Peesai Aapae Ghasai Aapae Hee Laae Leaee ||
आपे पीसै आपे घसै आपे ही लाइ लएइ ॥
He Himself grinds me, and He Himself rubs me; He Himself applies me to His feet.
ਇਹੁ ਪਿਰਮ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੈ ਦੇਇ ॥੨॥
Eihu Piram Piaalaa Khasam Kaa Jai Bhaavai Thai Dhaee ||2||
इहु पिरम पिआला खसम का जै भावै तै देइ ॥२॥
This is the cup of love of my Lord and Master; He gives it as He chooses. ||2||

Vaekee Srisatt Oupaaeean Sabh Hukam Aavai Jaae Samaahee ||
वेकी स्रिसटि उपाईअनु सभ हुकमि आवै जाइ समाही ॥
You created the world with its variety; by the Hukam of Your Command, it comes, goes, and merges again in You.
ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਸਦਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Aapae Vaekh Vigasadhaa Dhoojaa Ko Naahee ||
आपे वेखि विगसदा दूजा को नाही ॥
You Yourself see, and blossom forth; there is no one else at all.
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੁ ਤੂ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਹੀ ॥
Jio Bhaavai Thio Rakh Thoo Gur Sabadh Bujhaahee ||
जिउ भावै तिउ रखु तू गुर सबदि बुझाही ॥
As it pleases You, You keep me. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I understand You.
ਸਭਨਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਜੋਰੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਚਲਾਹੀ ॥
Sabhanaa Thaeraa Jor Hai Jio Bhaavai Thivai Chalaahee ||
सभना तेरा जोरु है जिउ भावै तिवै चलाही ॥
You are the strength of all. As it pleases You, You lead us on.
ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡ ਮੈ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਈ ॥੨॥
Thudhh Jaevadd Mai Naahi Ko Kis Aakh Sunaaee ||2||
तुधु जेवड मै नाहि को किसु आखि सुणाई ॥२॥
There is no other as great as You; unto whom should I speak and talk? ||2||

भरमि भुलाई सभु जगु फिरी फावी होई भालि ॥
Deluded by doubt, I wandered over the whole world. Searching, I became frustrated.
