सुख सागरु अम्रितु हरि नाउ ॥
The Ambrosial Name of the Lord is the ocean of peace.
ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਪਸਾਉ ॥
Mangath Jan Jaachai Har Dhaehu Pasaao ||
मंगत जनु जाचै हरि देहु पसाउ ॥
The beggar begs for it; O Lord, please bless him, in Your kindness.
ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
Har Sath Sath Sadhaa Har Sath Har Sath Maerai Man Bhaavai Jeeo ||2||
हरि सति सति सदा हरि सति हरि सति मेरै मनि भावै जीउ ॥२॥
True, True is the Lord; the Lord is forever True; the True Lord is pleasing to my mind. ||2||
ਨਵੇ ਛਿਦ੍ਰ ਸ੍ਰਵਹਿ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਾ ॥
Navae Shhidhr Sravehi Apavithraa ||
नवे छिद्र स्रवहि अपवित्रा ॥
The nine holes pour out filth.
ਬੋਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਤਾ ॥
Bol Har Naam Pavithr Sabh Kithaa ||
बोलि हरि नाम पवित्र सभि किता ॥
Chanting the Lord's Name, they are all purified and sanctified.
ਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਲੁ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
Jae Har Suprasann Hovai Maeraa Suaamee Har Simarath Mal Lehi Jaavai Jeeo ||3||
जे हरि सुप्रसंनु होवै मेरा सुआमी हरि सिमरत मलु लहि जावै जीउ ॥३॥
When my Lord and Master is totally pleased, He leads the mortal to meditate in remembrance on the Lord, and then his filth is taken away. ||3||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohu Bikham Hai Bhaaree ||
माइआ मोहु बिखमु है भारी ॥
Attachment to Maya is terribly treacherous.
ਕਿਉ ਤਰੀਐ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ॥
Kio Thareeai Dhuthar Sansaaree ||
किउ तरीऐ दुतरु संसारी ॥
How can one cross over the difficult world-ocean?
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
Sathigur Bohithh Dhaee Prabh Saachaa Jap Har Har Paar Langhaavai Jeeo ||4||
सतिगुरु बोहिथु देइ प्रभु साचा जपि हरि हरि पारि लंघावै जीउ ॥४॥
The True Lord bestows the boat of the True Guru; meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, one is carried across. ||4||
ਤੂ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
Thoo Sarabathr Thaeraa Sabh Koee ||
तू सरबत्र तेरा सभु कोई ॥
You are everywhere; all are Yours.
ਜੋ ਤੂ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਈ ॥
Jo Thoo Karehi Soee Prabh Hoee ||
जो तू करहि सोई प्रभ होई ॥
Whatever You do, God, that alone comes to pass.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਬੇਚਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੧॥੭॥

हरि हरि नामु जपहु मन मेरे ॥
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my mind.
ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
Sabh Kilavikh Kaattai Har Thaerae ||
सभि किलविख काटै हरि तेरे ॥
The Lord shall eradicate all your sins.
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਸਖਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
Har Dhhan Raakhahu Har Dhhan Sanchahu Har Chaladhiaa Naal Sakhaaee Jeeo ||1||
हरि धनु राखहु हरि धनु संचहु हरि चलदिआ नालि सखाई जीउ ॥१॥
Treasure the Lord's wealth, and gather in the Lord's wealth; when you depart in the end, the Lord shall go along with you as your only friend and companion. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥
Jis No Kirapaa Karae So Dhhiaavai ||
जिस नो क्रिपा करे सो धिआवै ॥
He alone meditates on the Lord, unto whom He grants His Grace.
ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
Nith Har Jap Jaapai Jap Har Sukh Paavai ||
नित हरि जपु जापै जपि हरि सुखु पावै ॥
He continually chants the Lord's Chant; meditating on the Lord, one finds peace.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਆਵੈ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Har Ras Aavai Jap Har Har Paar Langhaaee Jeeo ||1|| Rehaao ||
गुर परसादी हरि रसु आवै जपि हरि हरि पारि लंघाई जीउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
By Guru's Grace, the sublime essence of the Lord is obtained. Meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, one is carried across. ||1||Pause||
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
Nirabho Nirankaar Sath Naam ||
निरभउ निरंकारु सति नामु ॥
The fearless, formless Lord - the Name is Truth.
ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟੁ ਊਤਮ ਕਾਮੁ ॥
Jag Mehi Sraesatt Ootham Kaam ||
जग महि स्रेसटु ऊतम कामु ॥
To chant it is the most sublime and exalted activity in this world.
ਦੁਸਮਨ ਦੂਤ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਠੇਹ ਮਾਰਉ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
Dhusaman Dhooth Jamakaal Thaeh Maaro Har Saevak Naerr N Jaaee Jeeo ||2||
दुसमन दूत जमकालु ठेह मारउ हरि सेवक नेड़ि न जाई जीउ ॥२॥
Doing so, the Messenger of Death, the evil enemy, is killed. Death does not even approach the Lord's servant. ||2||
ਜਿਸੁ ਉਪਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
Jis Oupar Har Kaa Man Maaniaa ||
जिसु उपरि हरि का मनु मानिआ ॥
One whose mind is satisfied with the Lord
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗ ਚਹੁ ਕੁੰਟ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
So Saevak Chahu Jug Chahu Kuntt Jaaniaa ||
सो सेवकु चहु जुग चहु कुंट जानिआ ॥
That servant is known throughout the four ages, in all four directions.
ਜੇ ਉਸ ਕਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਪੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਮਕੰਕਰੁ ਖਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
Jae Ous Kaa Buraa Kehai Koee Paapee This Jamakankar Khaaee Jeeo ||3||
जे उस का बुरा कहै कोई पापी तिसु जमकंकरु खाई जीउ ॥३॥
If some sinner speaks evil of him, the Messenger of Death chews him up. ||3||
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
Sabh Mehi Eaek Niranjan Karathaa ||
सभ महि एकु निरंजन करता ॥
The One Pure Creator Lord is in all.
ਸਭਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਅਪਣੇ ਚਲਤਾ ॥
Sabh Kar Kar Vaekhai Apanae Chalathaa ||
सभि करि करि वेखै अपणे चलता ॥
He stages all His wondrous plays, and watches them.
ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਮਾਰੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਛਡਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
Jis Har Raakhai This Koun Maarai Jis Karathaa Aap Shhaddaaee Jeeo ||4||
जिसु हरि राखै तिसु कउणु मारै जिसु करता आपि छडाई जीउ ॥४॥
Who can kill that person, whom the Lord has saved? The Creator Lord Himself delivers him. ||4||
ਹਉ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਈ ਕਰਤਾਰੇ ॥
Ho Anadhin Naam Lee Karathaarae ||
हउ अनदिनु नामु लई करतारे ॥
I chant the Name of the Creator Lord, night and day.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਭਗਤ ਸਭੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥
Jin Saevak Bhagath Sabhae Nisathaarae ||
जिनि सेवक भगत सभे निसतारे ॥
He saves all His servants and devotees.
ਦਸ ਅਠ ਚਾਰਿ ਵੇਦ ਸਭਿ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਛਡਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੨॥੮॥
Dhas Ath Chaar Vaedh Sabh Pooshhahu Jan Naanak Naam Shhaddaaee Jeeo ||5||2||8||
दस अठ चारि वेद सभि पूछहु जन नानक नामु छडाई जीउ ॥५॥२॥८॥

डरपै धरति अकासु नख्यत्रा सिर ऊपरि अमरु करारा ॥
The earth, the Akaashic ethers and the stars abide in the Fear of God. The almighty Order of the Lord is over the heads of all.
ਪਉਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਡਰਪੈ ਡਰਪੈ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੁ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥

पउणु पाणी बैसंतरु डरपै डरपै इंद्रु बिचारा ॥१॥
Wind, water and fire abide in the Fear of God; poor Indra abides in the Fear of God as well. ||1||
ਏਕਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੀ ॥
Eaekaa Nirabho Baath Sunee ||
एका निरभउ बात सुनी ॥
I have heard one thing, that the One Lord alone is fearless.
ਸੋ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਸੋ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਗਾਇ ਗੁਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
So Sukheeaa So Sadhaa Suhaelaa Jo Gur Mil Gaae Gunee ||1|| Rehaao ||
सो सुखीआ सो सदा सुहेला जो गुर मिलि गाइ गुनी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
He alone is at peace, and he alone is embellished forever, who meets with the Guru, and sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਦੇਹਧਾਰ ਅਰੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਡਰਪਹਿ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਡਰਿ ਮੁਇਆ ॥
Dhaehadhhaar Ar Dhaevaa Ddarapehi Sidhh Saadhhik Ddar Mueiaa ||
देहधार अरु देवा डरपहि सिध साधिक डरि मुइआ ॥
The embodied and the divine beings abide in the Fear of God. The Siddhas and seekers die in the Fear of God.
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਜੋਇਆ ॥੨॥
Lakh Chouraaseeh Mar Mar Janamae Fir Fir Jonee Joeiaa ||2||
लख चउरासीह मरि मरि जनमे फिरि फिरि जोनी जोइआ ॥२॥
The 8.4 millions species of beings die, and die again, and are born over and over again. They are consigned to reincarnation. ||2||
