ਆਤਮੁ ਜਿਤਾ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਆਗੰਜਤ ਪਾਗਾ ॥
Aatham Jithaa Guramathee Aaganjath Paagaa ||
आतमु जिता गुरमती आगंजत पागा ॥
He conquers his soul, following the Guru's Teachings, and attains the Imperishable Lord.
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋ ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਤਾਗਾ ॥
Jisehi Dhhiaaeiaa Paarabreham So Kal Mehi Thaagaa ||
जिसहि धिआइआ पारब्रहमु सो कलि महि तागा ॥
He alone keeps up in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, who meditates on the Supreme Lord God.
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਮਜਨਾਗਾ ॥
Saadhhoo Sangath Niramalaa Athasath Majanaagaa ||
साधू संगति निरमला अठसठि मजनागा ॥
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he is immaculate, as if he has bathed at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage.
ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਭਾਗਾ ॥
Jis Prabh Miliaa Aapanaa So Purakh Sabhaagaa ||
जिसु प्रभु मिलिआ आपणा सो पुरखु सभागा ॥
He alone is a man of good fortune, who has met with God.

जां पिरु अंदरि तां धन बाहरि ॥
When the Husband Lord is within the heart, then Maya, the bride, goes outside.
ਜਾਂ ਪਿਰੁ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਤਾਂ ਧਨ ਮਾਹਰਿ ॥
Jaan Pir Baahar Thaan Dhhan Maahar ||
जां पिरु बाहरि तां धन माहरि ॥
When one's Husband Lord is outside of oneself, then Maya, the bride, is supreme.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਬਹੁ ਫੇਰ ਫਿਰਾਹਰਿ ॥
Bin Naavai Bahu Faer Firaahar ||
बिनु नावै बहु फेर फिराहरि ॥
Without the Name, one wanders all around.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਜਾਹਰਿ ॥

सतिगुरि संगि दिखाइआ जाहरि ॥
The True Guru shows us that the Lord is with us.

Making all sorts of efforts, they wander around; but they do not make even one effort.

Your colors and hues are so numerous; no one can know Your actions.

Your home is filled with bliss, which resonates and resounds throughout Your home.

Your streets are covered with canopies; under them, the traders look beautiful.
ਵਖਰੁ ਹਿਕੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਖਟੇ ਸੋ ਧਣੀ ॥੧॥

The Lord is the most beautiful fruit tree, bearing fruits of Ambrosial Nectar.
ਮਨੁ ਲੋਚੈ ਉਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮਿਲਣ ਕਉ ਕਿਉ ਵੰਞੈ ਘਿਤਾ ॥
Man Lochai Ounh Milan Ko Kio Vannjai Ghithaa ||
मनु लोचै उन्ह मिलण कउ किउ वंञै घिता ॥
My mind longs to meet Him; how can I ever find Him?
ਵਰਨਾ ਚਿਹਨਾ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਓਹੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਜਿਤਾ ॥
Varanaa Chihanaa Baaharaa Ouhu Agam Ajithaa ||
वरना चिहना बाहरा ओहु अगमु अजिता ॥
He has no color or form; He is inaccessible and unconquerable.
ਓਹੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਜੋ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਭਿਤਾ ॥
Ouhu Piaaraa Jeea Kaa Jo Kholhai Bhithaa ||
ओहु पिआरा जीअ का जो खोल्है भिता ॥
I love Him with all my soul; He opens the door for me.
ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੀ ਤੁਸਾੜੀਆ ਮੈ ਦਸਿਹੁ ਮਿਤਾ ॥
Saevaa Karee Thusaarreeaa Mai Dhasihu Mithaa ||
सेवा करी तुसाड़ीआ मै दसिहु मिता ॥
I shall serve you forever, if you tell me of my Friend.
ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਵੰਞਾ ਵਾਰਣੈ ਬਲੇ ਬਲਿ ਕਿਤਾ ॥
Kurabaanee Vannjaa Vaaranai Balae Bal Kithaa ||
कुरबाणी वंञा वारणै बले बलि किता ॥
I am a sacrifice, a dedicated, devoted sacrifice to Him.
ਦਸਨਿ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਲਾਇ ਚਿਤਾ ॥
Dhasan Santh Piaariaa Sunahu Laae Chithaa ||
दसनि संत पिआरिआ सुणहु लाइ चिता ॥
The Beloved Saints tell us, to listen with our consciousness.
ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਤਾ ॥੧੯॥
Jis Likhiaa Naanak Dhaas This Naao Anmrith Sathigur Dhithaa ||19||
जिसु लिखिआ नानक दास तिसु नाउ अम्रितु सतिगुरि दिता ॥१९॥
One who has such pre-ordained destiny, O slave Nanak, is blessed with the Ambrosial Name by the True Guru. ||19||

कबीर धरती साध की तसकर बैसहि गाहि ॥
Kabeer, the earth belongs to the Holy, but the thieves have come and now sit among them.
ਧਰਤੀ ਭਾਰਿ ਨ ਬਿਆਪਈ ਉਨ ਕਉ ਲਾਹੂ ਲਾਹਿ ॥੧॥

Kabeer, for the sake of the rice, the husks are beaten and threshed.
ਸੰਗਿ ਕੁਸੰਗੀ ਬੈਸਤੇ ਤਬ ਪੂਛੇ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ॥੨॥
Sang Kusangee Baisathae Thab Pooshhae Dhharam Raae ||2||
संगि कुसंगी बैसते तब पूछे धरम राइ ॥२॥
When one sits in the company of evil people, then he will be called to account by the Righteous Judge of Dharma. ||2||

आपणी कीमति आपि आपे ही जातीआ ॥
He alone knows His own worth.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਉਪੰਨਿਆ ॥

सभु किछु आपे आपि आपि उपंनिआ ॥
He Himself, by Himself, created everything.

आपणा कीता आपि आपि वरंनिआ ॥
Only He Himself can describe His own creation.
