पूरब जनम हम तुम्हरे सेवक अब तउ मिटिआ न जाई ॥
In my past life, I was Your servant; now, I cannot leave You.
ਤੇਰੇ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਧੁਨਿ ਸਹਜ ਕੀ ਮਾਥੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਗਾਈ ॥੨॥
Thaerae Dhuaarai Dhhun Sehaj Kee Maathhai Maerae Dhagaaee ||2||
तेरे दुआरै धुनि सहज की माथै मेरे दगाई ॥२॥
The celestial sound current resounds at Your Door. Your insignia is stamped upon my forehead. ||2||
ਦਾਗੇ ਹੋਹਿ ਸੁ ਰਨ ਮਹਿ ਜੂਝਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਦਾਗੇ ਭਗਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
Dhaagae Hohi S Ran Mehi Joojhehi Bin Dhaagae Bhag Jaaee ||
दागे होहि सु रन महि जूझहि बिनु दागे भगि जाई ॥
Those who are branded with Your brand fight bravely in battle; those without Your brand run away.
ਸਾਧੂ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਪਛਾਨੈ ਹਰਿ ਲਏ ਖਜਾਨੈ ਪਾਈ ॥੩॥
Saadhhoo Hoe S Bhagath Pashhaanai Har Leae Khajaanai Paaee ||3||
साधू होइ सु भगति पछानै हरि लए खजानै पाई ॥३॥
One who becomes a Holy person, appreciates the value of devotional worship to the Lord. The Lord places him in His treasury. ||3||
ਕੋਠਰੇ ਮਹਿ ਕੋਠਰੀ ਪਰਮ ਕੋਠੀ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
Kotharae Mehi Kotharee Param Kothee Beechaar ||
कोठरे महि कोठरी परम कोठी बीचारि ॥
In the fortress is the chamber; by contemplative meditation it becomes the supreme chamber.
ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੀ ਬਸਤੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਕਉ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਬਸਤੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰਿ ॥੪॥
Gur Dheenee Basath Kabeer Ko Laevahu Basath Samhaar ||4||
गुरि दीनी बसतु कबीर कउ लेवहु बसतु सम्हारि ॥४॥
The Guru has blessed Kabeer with the commodity, saying, ""Take this commodity; cherish it and keep it secure.""||4||
ਕਬੀਰਿ ਦੀਈ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਕਉ ਲੀਨੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ॥
Kabeer Dheeee Sansaar Ko Leenee Jis Masathak Bhaag ||
कबीरि दीई संसार कउ लीनी जिसु मसतकि भागु ॥
Kabeer gives it to the world, but he alone receives it, upon whose forehead such destiny is recorded.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਿਰੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ॥੫॥੪॥
Anmrith Ras Jin Paaeiaa Thhir Thaa Kaa Sohaag ||5||4||
अम्रित रसु जिनि पाइआ थिरु ता का सोहागु ॥५॥४॥
Permanent is the marriage, of one who receives this ambrosial essence. ||5||4||
ਜਿਹ ਮੁਖ ਬੇਦੁ ਗਾਇਤ੍ਰੀ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਨੁ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
Jih Mukh Baedh Gaaeithree Nikasai So Kio Brehaman Bisar Karai ||
जिह मुख बेदु गाइत्री निकसै सो किउ ब्रहमनु बिसरु करै ॥
O Brahmin, how can you forget the One, from whose mouth the Vedas and the Gayitri prayer issured forth?
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਪਾਇ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਨ ਕਹੈ ॥੧॥
Jaa Kai Paae Jagath Sabh Laagai So Kio Panddith Har N Kehai ||1||
जा कै पाइ जगतु सभु लागै सो किउ पंडितु हरि न कहै ॥१॥
The whole world falls at His feet; why don't you chant the Name of that Lord, O Pandit? ||1||
ਕਾਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਨ ਹਰਿ ਨ ਕਹਹਿ ॥
Kaahae Maerae Baamhan Har N Kehehi ||
काहे मेरे बाम्हन हरि न कहहि ॥
Why, O my Brahmin, do you not chant the Lord's Name?
ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਪਾਡੇ ਦੋਜਕੁ ਭਰਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Raam N Bolehi Paaddae Dhojak Bharehi ||1|| Rehaao ||
रामु न बोलहि पाडे दोजकु भरहि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
If you don't chant the Lord's Name, O Pandit, you will only suffer in hell. ||1||Pause||
ਆਪਨ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਘਰਿ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਹਠੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਉਦਰੁ ਭਰਹਿ ॥
Aapan Ooch Neech Ghar Bhojan Hathae Karam Kar Oudhar Bharehi ||
आपन ऊच नीच घरि भोजनु हठे करम करि उदरु भरहि ॥
You think that you are high, but you take food from the houses of the lowly; you fill up your belly by forcibly practicing your rituals.
ਚਉਦਸ ਅਮਾਵਸ ਰਚਿ ਰਚਿ ਮਾਂਗਹਿ ਕਰ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਲੈ ਕੂਪਿ ਪਰਹਿ ॥੨॥
Choudhas Amaavas Rach Rach Maangehi Kar Dheepak Lai Koop Parehi ||2||
चउदस अमावस रचि रचि मांगहि कर दीपकु लै कूपि परहि ॥२॥
On the fourteenth day, and the night of the new moon, you go out begging; even though you hold the lamp in your hands, still, you fall into the pit. ||2||
ਤੂੰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਨੁ ਮੈ ਕਾਸੀਕ ਜੁਲਹਾ ਮੁਹਿ ਤੋਹਿ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਕੈਸੇ ਕੈ ਬਨਹਿ ॥
Thoon Brehaman Mai Kaaseek Julehaa Muhi Thohi Baraabaree Kaisae Kai Banehi ||
तूं ब्रहमनु मै कासीक जुलहा मुहि तोहि बराबरी कैसे कै बनहि ॥
You are a Brahmin, and I am only a weaver from Benares. How can I compare to you?
ਹਮਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਕਹਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਬੇਦ ਭਰੋਸੇ ਪਾਂਡੇ ਡੂਬਿ ਮਰਹਿ ॥੩॥੫॥
Hamarae Raam Naam Kehi Oubarae Baedh Bharosae Paanddae Ddoob Marehi ||3||5||
हमरे राम नाम कहि उबरे बेद भरोसे पांडे डूबि मरहि ॥३॥५॥
Chanting the Lord's Name, I have been saved; relying on the Vedas, O Brahmin, you shall drown and die. ||3||5||
ਤਰਵਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਅਨੰਤ ਡਾਰ ਸਾਖਾ ਪੁਹਪ ਪਤ੍ਰ ਰਸ ਭਰੀਆ ॥
Tharavar Eaek Ananth Ddaar Saakhaa Puhap Pathr Ras Bhareeaa ||
तरवरु एकु अनंत डार साखा पुहप पत्र रस भरीआ ॥
There is a single tree, with countless branches and twigs; its flowers and leaves are filled with its juice.
ਇਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕੀ ਬਾੜੀ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਰੀਆ ॥੧॥
Eih Anmrith Kee Baarree Hai Rae Thin Har Poorai Kareeaa ||1||
इह अम्रित की बाड़ी है रे तिनि हरि पूरै करीआ ॥१॥
This world is a garden of Ambrosial Nectar. The Perfect Lord created it. ||1||

ਭਵਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਪੁਹਪ ਰਸ ਬੀਧਾ ਬਾਰਹ ਲੇ ਉਰ ਧਰਿਆ ॥
Bhavar Eaek Puhap Ras Beedhhaa Baareh Lae Our Dhhariaa ||
भवरु एकु पुहप रस बीधा बारह ले उर धरिआ ॥
The bumble bee, addicted to the nectar of the twelve-petalled flowers, enshrines it in the heart.
ਸੋਰਹ ਮਧੇ ਪਵਨੁ ਝਕੋਰਿਆ ਆਕਾਸੇ ਫਰੁ ਫਰਿਆ ॥੨॥
Soreh Madhhae Pavan Jhakoriaa Aakaasae Far Fariaa ||2||
सोरह मधे पवनु झकोरिआ आकासे फरु फरिआ ॥२॥
He holds his breath suspended in the sixteen-petalled sky of the Akaashic Ethers, and beats his wings in esctasy. ||2||
ਸਹਜ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਇਕੁ ਬਿਰਵਾ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਧਰਤੀ ਜਲਹਰੁ ਸੋਖਿਆ ॥
Sehaj Sunn Eik Biravaa Oupajiaa Dhharathee Jalehar Sokhiaa ||
सहज सुंनि इकु बिरवा उपजिआ धरती जलहरु सोखिआ ॥
In the profound void of intuitive Samaadhi, the one tree rises up; it soaks up the water of desire from the ground.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਉ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਰਵਾ ਦੇਖਿਆ ॥੩॥੬॥
Kehi Kabeer Ho Thaa Kaa Saevak Jin Eihu Biravaa Dhaekhiaa ||3||6||
कहि कबीर हउ ता का सेवकु जिनि इहु बिरवा देखिआ ॥३॥६॥
Says Kabeer, I am the servant of those who have seen this celestial tree. ||3||6||

मुंद्रा मोनि दइआ करि झोली पत्र का करहु बीचारु रे ॥
Make silence your ear-rings, and compassion your wallet; let meditation be your begging bowl.
ਖਿੰਥਾ ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਅਉ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਉ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
Khinthhaa Eihu Than Seeao Apanaa Naam Karo Aadhhaar Rae ||1||
खिंथा इहु तनु सीअउ अपना नामु करउ आधारु रे ॥१॥
Sew this body as your patched coat, and take the Lord's Name as your support. ||1||
ਐਸਾ ਜੋਗੁ ਕਮਾਵਹੁ ਜੋਗੀ ॥
Aisaa Jog Kamaavahu Jogee ||
ऐसा जोगु कमावहु जोगी ॥
Practice such Yoga, O Yogi.

Budhh Bibhooth Chadtaavo Apunee Singee Surath Milaaee ||
बुधि बिभूति चढावउ अपुनी सिंगी सुरति मिलाई ॥
Apply the ashes of wisdom to your body; let your horn be your focused consciousness.
ਕਰਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਫਿਰਉ ਤਨਿ ਨਗਰੀ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਬਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
Kar Bairaag Firo Than Nagaree Man Kee Kinguree Bajaaee ||2||
करि बैरागु फिरउ तनि नगरी मन की किंगुरी बजाई ॥२॥
Become detached, and wander through the city of your body; play the harp of your mind. ||2||
ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਲੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਾਲਮ ਤਾੜੀ ॥
Panch Thath Lai Hiradhai Raakhahu Rehai Niraalam Thaarree ||
पंच ततु लै हिरदै राखहु रहै निरालम ताड़ी ॥
Enshrine the five tatvas - the five elements, within your heart; let your deep meditative trance be undisturbed.
ਕਹਤੁ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਬਾੜੀ ॥੩॥੭॥

कहतु कबीरु सुनहु रे संतहु धरमु दइआ करि बाड़ी ॥३॥७॥

कवन काज सिरजे जग भीतरि जनमि कवन फलु पाइआ ॥
For what purpose were you created and brought into the world? What rewards have you received in this life?
ਭਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਤਰਨ ਤਾਰਨ ਚਿੰਤਾਮਨਿ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
Bhav Nidhh Tharan Thaaran Chinthaaman Eik Nimakh N Eihu Man Laaeiaa ||1||
भव निधि तरन तारन चिंतामनि इक निमख न इहु मनु लाइआ ॥१॥
God is the boat to carry you across the terrifying world-ocean; He is the Fulfiller of the mind's desires. You have not centered your mind on Him, even for an instant. ||1||
