Japiou Naam Suk Janak Gur Bachanee Har Har Saran Parae ||
जपिओ नामु सुक जनक गुर बचनी हरि हरि सरणि परे ॥
Suk-deva and Janak meditated on the Naam; following the Guru's Teachings they sought the Sanctuary of the Lord Har, Har.
ਦਾਲਦੁ ਭੰਜਿ ਸੁਦਾਮੇ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਭਗਤੀ ਭਾਇ ਤਰੇ ॥
Dhaaladh Bhanj Sudhaamae Miliou Bhagathee Bhaae Tharae ||
दालदु भंजि सुदामे मिलिओ भगती भाइ तरे ॥
God met Sudama and removed his poverty; through loving devotional worship, he crossed over.

भगति वछलु हरि नामु क्रितारथु गुरमुखि क्रिपा करे ॥१॥
God is the Lover of His devotees; the Lord's Name is fufilling; God showers His Mercy on the Gurmukhs. ||1||

मेरे मन नामु जपत उधरे ॥
O my mind, chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you will be saved.

ध्रू प्रहिलादु बिदरु दासी सुतु गुरमुखि नामि तरे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Dhroo, Prahlaad and Bidar the slave-girl's son, became Gurmukh, and through the Naam, crossed over. ||1||Pause||

Kalajug Naam Pradhhaan Padhaarathh Bhagath Janaa Oudhharae ||
कलजुगि नामु प्रधानु पदारथु भगत जना उधरे ॥
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Naam is the supreme wealth; it saves the humble devotees.
ਨਾਮਾ ਜੈਦੇਉ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਚਨੁ ਸਭਿ ਦੋਖ ਗਏ ਚਮਰੇ ॥
Naamaa Jaidhaeo Kabeer Thrilochan Sabh Dhokh Geae Chamarae ||
नामा जैदेउ कबीरु त्रिलोचनु सभि दोख गए चमरे ॥
All the faults of Naam Dayv, Jai Dayv, Kabeer, Trilochan and Ravi Daas the leather-worker were covered.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਟਰੇ ॥੨॥
Guramukh Naam Lagae Sae Oudhharae Sabh Kilabikh Paap Ttarae ||2||
गुरमुखि नामि लगे से उधरे सभि किलबिख पाप टरे ॥२॥
Those who become Gurmukh, and remain attached to the Naam, are saved; all their sins are washed off. ||2||
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਸਭਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਦੋਖ ਪਰਹਰੇ ॥
Jo Jo Naam Japai Aparaadhhee Sabh Thin Kae Dhokh Pareharae ||
जो जो नामु जपै अपराधी सभि तिन के दोख परहरे ॥
Whoever chants the Naam, all his sins and mistakes are taken away.
ਬੇਸੁਆ ਰਵਤ ਅਜਾਮਲੁ ਉਧਰਿਓ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲੈ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਨਰਹਰੇ ॥
Baesuaa Ravath Ajaamal Oudhhariou Mukh Bolai Naaraaein Nareharae ||
बेसुआ रवत अजामलु उधरिओ मुखि बोलै नाराइणु नरहरे ॥
Ajaamal, who had sex with prostitites, was saved, by chanting the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਉਗ੍ਰਸੈਣਿ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਤੋੜਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰੇ ॥੩॥
Naam Japath Ougrasain Gath Paaee Thorr Bandhhan Mukath Karae ||3||
नामु जपत उग्रसैणि गति पाई तोड़ि बंधन मुकति करे ॥३॥
Chanting the Naam, Ugar Sain obtained salvation; his bonds were broken, and he was liberated. ||3||
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕਰੇ ॥

जन कउ आपि अनुग्रहु कीआ हरि अंगीकारु करे ॥
God Himself takes pity on His humble servants, and makes them His own.

सेवक पैज रखै मेरा गोविदु सरणि परे उधरे ॥
My Lord of the Universe saves the honor of His servants; those who seek His Sanctuary are saved.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਉਰ ਧਰਿਓ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥

जन नानक हरि किरपा धारी उर धरिओ नामु हरे ॥४॥१॥
The Lord has showered servant Nanak with His Mercy; he has enshrined the Lord's Name within his heart. ||4||1||

Sidhh Samaadhh Japiou Liv Laaee Saadhhik Mun Japiaa ||
सिध समाधि जपिओ लिव लाई साधिक मुनि जपिआ ॥
The Siddhas in Samaadhi meditate on Him; they are lovingly focused on Him. The seekers and the silent sages meditate on Him as well.
ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਦਿਕ ਰਵਿਆ ॥
Jathee Sathee Santhokhee Dhhiaaeiaa Mukh Eindhraadhik Raviaa ||
जती सती संतोखी धिआइआ मुखि इंद्रादिक रविआ ॥
The celibates, the true and contented beings meditate on Him; Indra and the other gods chant His Name with their mouths.

सरणि परे जपिओ ते भाए गुरमुखि पारि पइआ ॥१॥
Those who seek His Sanctuary meditate on Him; they become Gurmukh and swim across. ||1||

धंना जटु बालमीकु बटवारा गुरमुखि पारि पइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Dhanna the farmer, and Balmik the highway robber, became Gurmukh, and crossed over. ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬੇ ਜਪਿਓ ਰਿਖਿ ਬਪੁਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
Sur Nar Gan Gandhharabae Japiou Rikh Bapurai Har Gaaeiaa ||
सुरि नर गण गंधरबे जपिओ रिखि बपुरै हरि गाइआ ॥
Angels, men, heavenly heralds and celestial singers meditate on Him; even the humble Rishis sing of the Lord.
ਸੰਕਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੈ ਦੇਵੀ ਜਪਿਓ ਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਆ ॥
Sankar Brehamai Dhaevee Japiou Mukh Har Har Naam Japiaa ||
संकरि ब्रहमै देवी जपिओ मुखि हरि हरि नामु जपिआ ॥
Shiva, Brahma and the goddess Lakhshmi, meditate, and chant with their mouths the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਨਾ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੨॥
Har Har Naam Jinaa Man Bheenaa Thae Guramukh Paar Paeiaa ||2||
हरि हरि नामि जिना मनु भीना ते गुरमुखि पारि पइआ ॥२॥
Those whose minds are drenched with the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, as Gurmukh, cross over. ||2||
ਕੋਟਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਧਿਆਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਤਿਆ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Kott Kott Thaethees Dhhiaaeiou Har Japathiaa Anth N Paaeiaa ||
कोटि कोटि तेतीस धिआइओ हरि जपतिआ अंतु न पाइआ ॥
Millions and millions, three hundred thirty million gods meditate on Him; there is no end to those who meditate on the Lord.
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
Baedh Puraan Simrith Har Japiaa Mukh Panddith Har Gaaeiaa ||
बेद पुराण सिम्रिति हरि जपिआ मुखि पंडित हरि गाइआ ॥
The Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees meditate on the Lord; the Pandits, the religious scholars, sing the Lord's Praises as well.
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਾਲੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੩॥
Naam Rasaal Jinaa Man Vasiaa Thae Guramukh Paar Paeiaa ||3||
नामु रसालु जिना मनि वसिआ ते गुरमुखि पारि पइआ ॥३॥
Those whose minds are filled with the Naam, the source of nectar - as Gurmukh, they cross over. ||3||
ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨ ਜਪਿਆ ਮੈ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਕਰਿ ਸਕਿਆ ॥
Anath Tharangee Naam Jin Japiaa Mai Ganath N Kar Sakiaa ||
अनत तरंगी नामु जिन जपिआ मै गणत न करि सकिआ ॥
Those who chant the Naam in endless waves - I cannot even count their number.
ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਏ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
Gobidh Kirapaa Karae Thhaae Paaeae Jo Har Prabh Man Bhaaeiaa ||
गोबिदु क्रिपा करे थाइ पाए जो हरि प्रभ मनि भाइआ ॥
The Lord of the Universe bestows His Mercy, and those who are pleasing to the Mind of the Lord God, find their place.
