Boojhath Dheepak Milath Thilath ||
बूझत दीपक मिलत तिलत ॥
It is like oil to the lamp whose flame is dying out.
ਜਲਤ ਅਗਨੀ ਮਿਲਤ ਨੀਰ ॥
Jalath Aganee Milath Neer ||
जलत अगनी मिलत नीर ॥
It is like water poured on the burning fire.
ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਮੁਖਹਿ ਖੀਰ ॥੧॥
Jaisae Baarik Mukhehi Kheer ||1||
जैसे बारिक मुखहि खीर ॥१॥
It is like milk poured into the baby's mouth. ||1||
ਜੈਸੇ ਰਣ ਮਹਿ ਸਖਾ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ॥
Jaisae Ran Mehi Sakhaa Bhraath ||
जैसे रण महि सखा भ्रात ॥
As one's brother becomes a helper on the field of battle;
ਜੈਸੇ ਭੂਖੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਮਾਤ ॥
Jaisae Bhookhae Bhojan Maath ||
जैसे भूखे भोजन मात ॥
As one's hunger is satisfied by food;
ਜੈਸੇ ਕਿਰਖਹਿ ਬਰਸ ਮੇਘ ॥
Jaisae Kirakhehi Baras Maegh ||
जैसे किरखहि बरस मेघ ॥
As the cloudburst saves the crops;
ਜੈਸੇ ਪਾਲਨ ਸਰਨਿ ਸੇਂਘ ॥੨॥
Jaisae Paalan Saran Saenagh ||2||
जैसे पालन सरनि सेंघ ॥२॥
As one is protected in the tiger's lair;||2||
ਗਰੁੜ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਹੀ ਸਰਪ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
Garurr Mukh Nehee Sarap Thraas ||
गरुड़ मुखि नही सरप त्रास ॥
As with the magic spell of Garuda the eagle upon one's lips, one does not fear the snake;
ਸੂਆ ਪਿੰਜਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਖਾਇ ਬਿਲਾਸੁ ॥
Sooaa Pinjar Nehee Khaae Bilaas ||
सूआ पिंजरि नही खाइ बिलासु ॥
As the cat cannot eat the parrot in its cage;
ਜੈਸੋ ਆਂਡੋ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Jaiso Aaanddo Hiradhae Maahi ||
जैसो आंडो हिरदे माहि ॥
As the bird cherishes her eggs in her heart;
ਜੈਸੋ ਦਾਨੋ ਚਕੀ ਦਰਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
Jaiso Dhaano Chakee Dharaahi ||3||
जैसो दानो चकी दराहि ॥३॥
As the grains are spared, by sticking to the central post of the mill;||3||
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਓਪਮਾ ਥੋਰ ਕਹੀ ॥
Bahuth Oupamaa Thhor Kehee ||
बहुतु ओपमा थोर कही ॥
Your Glory is so great; I can describe only a tiny bit of it.
ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਤੁਹੀ ॥
Har Agam Agam Agaadhh Thuhee ||
हरि अगम अगम अगाधि तुही ॥
O Lord, You are inaccessible, unapproachable and unfathomable.
ਊਚ ਮੂਚੌ ਬਹੁ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
Ooch Moocha Bahu Apaar ||
ऊच मूचौ बहु अपार ॥
You are lofty and high, utterly great and infinite.

And with my eyes, I gaze upon the Blessed Vision of their Darshan, day and night.

With my hands, I work for the Saints.

संतसंगि मेरे मन की प्रीति ॥
My mind loves the Society of the Saints.

Santh Gun Basehi Maerai Cheeth ||
संत गुन बसहि मेरै चीति ॥
The Virtues of the Saints abide within my consciousness.
ਸੰਤ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਨਹਿ ਮੀਠ ॥
Santh Aagiaa Manehi Meeth ||
संत आगिआ मनहि मीठ ॥
The Will of the Saints is sweet to my mind.
ਮੇਰਾ ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਸੰਤ ਡੀਠ ॥੨॥

मेरा कमलु बिगसै संत डीठ ॥२॥
Seeing the Saints, my heart-lotus blossoms forth. ||2||
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥

संतसंगि मेरा होइ निवासु ॥
I dwell in the Society of the Saints.
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪਿਆਸ ॥
Santhan Kee Mohi Bahuth Piaas ||
संतन की मोहि बहुतु पिआस ॥
I have such a great thirst for the Saints.
ਸੰਤ ਬਚਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਹਿ ਮੰਤ ॥
Santh Bachan Maerae Manehi Manth ||
संत बचन मेरे मनहि मंत ॥
The Words of the Saints are the Mantras of my mind.
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਹੰਤ ॥੩॥

संत प्रसादि मेरे बिखै हंत ॥३॥
By the Grace of the Saints, my corruption is taken away. ||3||
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਏਹਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
Mukath Jugath Eaehaa Nidhhaan ||
मुकति जुगति एहा निधान ॥
This way of liberation is my treasure.

Prabh Dhaeiaal Mohi Dhaevahu Dhaan ||
प्रभ दइआल मोहि देवहु दान ॥
O Merciful God, please bless me with this gift.

नानक कउ प्रभ दइआ धारि ॥
O God, shower Your Mercy upon Nanak.

He is with all; He is not far away.
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਹਾਜਰਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

He is the Cause of causes, ever-present here and now. ||1||Pause||

Hearing His Name, one comes to life.

दुख बिनसे सुख कीओ बिस्रामु ॥
Pain is dispelled; peace and tranquility come to dwell within.
ਸਗਲ ਨਿਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥
Sagal Nidhh Har Har Harae ||
सगल निधि हरि हरि हरे ॥
The Lord, Har, Har, is all treasure.
ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੇ ॥੧॥
Mun Jan Thaa Kee Saev Karae ||1||
मुनि जन ता की सेव करे ॥१॥
The silent sages serve Him. ||1||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
Jaa Kai Ghar Sagalae Samaahi ||
जा कै घरि सगले समाहि ॥
Everything is contained in His home.
ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕੋਇ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
Jis Thae Birathhaa Koe Naahi ||
जिस ते बिरथा कोइ नाहि ॥
No one is turned away empty-handed.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
Jeea Janthr Karae Prathipaal ||
जीअ जंत्र करे प्रतिपाल ॥
He cherishes all beings and creatures.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥੨॥
Sadhaa Sadhaa Saevahu Kirapaal ||2||
सदा सदा सेवहु किरपाल ॥२॥
Forever and ever, serve the Merciful Lord. ||2||
ਸਦਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਦੀਬਾਣਿ ॥
Sadhaa Dhharam Jaa Kai Dheebaan ||
सदा धरमु जा कै दीबाणि ॥
Righteous justice is dispensed in His Court forever.
ਬੇਮੁਹਤਾਜ ਨਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਾਣਿ ॥
Baemuhathaaj Nehee Kishh Kaan ||
बेमुहताज नही किछु काणि ॥
He is carefree, and owes allegiance to no one.
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਨਾ ਆਪਨ ਆਪਿ ॥
Sabh Kishh Karanaa Aapan Aap ||
सभ किछु करना आपन आपि ॥
He Himself, by Himself, does everything.
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਜਾਪਿ ॥੩॥
Rae Man Maerae Thoo Thaa Ko Jaap ||3||
रे मन मेरे तू ता कउ जापि ॥३॥
O my mind, meditate on Him. ||3||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥
Saadhhasangath Ko Ho Balihaar ||
साधसंगति कउ हउ बलिहार ॥
I am a sacrifice to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਜਾਸੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
Jaas Mil Hovai Oudhhaar ||
जासु मिलि होवै उधारु ॥
Joining them, I am saved.
ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਨ ਤਨਹਿ ਰਾਤ ॥
Naam Sang Man Thanehi Raath ||
नाम संगि मन तनहि रात ॥
My mind and body are attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਰੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੪॥੫॥

नानक कउ प्रभि करी दाति ॥४॥५॥
