गोबिंद हम ऐसे अपराधी ॥
O Lord of the Universe, I am such a sinner!
ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਥਾ ਦੀਆ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਸਾਧੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jin Prabh Jeeo Pindd Thhaa Dheeaa This Kee Bhaao Bhagath Nehee Saadhhee ||1|| Rehaao ||
जिनि प्रभि जीउ पिंडु था दीआ तिस की भाउ भगति नही साधी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
God gave me body and soul, but I have not practiced loving devotional worship to Him. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰ ਧਨ ਪਰ ਤਨ ਪਰ ਤੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਪਰ ਅਪਬਾਦੁ ਨ ਛੂਟੈ ॥
Par Dhhan Par Than Par Thee Nindhaa Par Apabaadh N Shhoottai ||
पर धन पर तन पर ती निंदा पर अपबादु न छूटै ॥
Others' wealth, others' bodies, others' wives, others' slander and others' fights - I have not given them up.
ਆਵਾ ਗਵਨੁ ਹੋਤੁ ਹੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਫੁਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਪਰਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਤੂਟੈ ॥੨॥
Aavaa Gavan Hoth Hai Fun Fun Eihu Parasang N Thoottai ||2||
आवा गवनु होतु है फुनि फुनि इहु परसंगु न तूटै ॥२॥
For the sake of these, coming and going in reincarnation happens over and over again, and this story never ends. ||2||
ਜਿਹ ਘਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਹੋਤ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੋ ਮੈ ਫੇਰਾ ॥
Jih Ghar Kathhaa Hoth Har Santhan Eik Nimakh N Keenho Mai Faeraa ||
जिह घरि कथा होत हरि संतन इक निमख न कीन्हो मै फेरा ॥
That house, in which the Saints speak of the Lord - I have not visited it, even for an instant.
ਲੰਪਟ ਚੋਰ ਦੂਤ ਮਤਵਾਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਦਾ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥੩॥
Lanpatt Chor Dhooth Mathavaarae Thin Sang Sadhaa Basaeraa ||3||
ल्मपट चोर दूत मतवारे तिन संगि सदा बसेरा ॥३॥
Drunkards, thieves, and evil-doers - I constantly dwell with them. ||3||
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦ ਮਤਸਰ ਏ ਸੰਪੈ ਮੋ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
Kaam Krodhh Maaeiaa Madh Mathasar Eae Sanpai Mo Maahee ||
काम क्रोध माइआ मद मतसर ए स्मपै मो माही ॥
Sexual desire, anger, the wine of Maya, and envy - these are what I collect within myself.
ਦਇਆ ਧਰਮੁ ਅਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਏ ਸੁਪਨੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੪॥
Dhaeiaa Dhharam Ar Gur Kee Saevaa Eae Supananthar Naahee ||4||
दइआ धरमु अरु गुर की सेवा ए सुपनंतरि नाही ॥४॥
Compassion, righteousness, and service to the Guru - these do not visit me, even in my dreams. ||4||
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦਮੋਦਰ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਛਲ ਭੈ ਹਾਰੀ ॥
Dheen Dhaeiaal Kirapaal Dhamodhar Bhagath Bashhal Bhai Haaree ||
दीन दइआल क्रिपाल दमोदर भगति बछल भै हारी ॥
He is merciful to the meek, compassionate and benevolent, the Lover of His devotees, the Destroyer of fear.
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਭੀਰ ਜਨ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਉ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ॥੫॥੮॥
Kehath Kabeer Bheer Jan Raakhahu Har Saevaa Karo Thumhaaree ||5||8||
कहत कबीर भीर जन राखहु हरि सेवा करउ तुम्हारी ॥५॥८॥
Says Kabeer, please protect Your humble servant from disaster; O Lord, I serve only You. ||5||8||
ਜਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
Jih Simaran Hoe Mukath Dhuaar ||
जिह सिमरनि होइ मुकति दुआरु ॥
Remembering Him in meditation, the door of liberation is found.
ਜਾਹਿ ਬੈਕੁੰਠਿ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
Jaahi Baikunth Nehee Sansaar ||
जाहि बैकुंठि नही संसारि ॥
You shall go to heaven, and not return to this earth.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਬਜਾਵਹਿ ਤੂਰ ॥
Nirabho Kai Ghar Bajaavehi Thoor ||
निरभउ कै घरि बजावहि तूर ॥
In the home of the Fearless Lord, the celestial trumpets resound.
ਅਨਹਦ ਬਜਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਭਰਪੂਰ ॥੧॥
Anehadh Bajehi Sadhaa Bharapoor ||1||
अनहद बजहि सदा भरपूर ॥१॥
The unstruck sound current will vibrate and resonate forever. ||1||
ਐਸਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Aisaa Simaran Kar Man Maahi ||
ऐसा सिमरनु करि मन माहि ॥
Practice such meditative remembrance in your mind.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਤ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bin Simaran Mukath Kath Naahi ||1|| Rehaao ||
बिनु सिमरन मुकति कत नाहि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Without this meditative remembrance, liberation will never be found. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਨਕਾਰੁ ॥
Jih Simaran Naahee Nanakaar ||
जिह सिमरनि नाही ननकारु ॥
Remembering Him in meditation, you will meet with no obstruction.
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਉਤਰੈ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਰੁ ॥
Mukath Karai Outharai Bahu Bhaar ||
मुकति करै उतरै बहु भारु ॥
You will be liberated, and the great load will be taken away.
ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Namasakaar Kar Hiradhai Maahi ||
नमसकारु करि हिरदै माहि ॥
Bow in humility within your heart,
ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਵਨੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
Fir Fir Thaeraa Aavan Naahi ||2||
फिरि फिरि तेरा आवनु नाहि ॥२॥
And you will not have to be reincarnated over and over again. ||2||
ਜਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੂ ਕੇਲ ॥
Jih Simaran Karehi Thoo Kael ||
जिह सिमरनि करहि तू केल ॥
Remember Him in meditation, celebrate and be happy.
ਦੀਪਕੁ ਬਾਂਧਿ ਧਰਿਓ ਬਿਨੁ ਤੇਲ ॥
Dheepak Baandhh Dhhariou Bin Thael ||
दीपकु बांधि धरिओ बिनु तेल ॥
God has placed His lamp deep within you, which burns without any oil.
ਸੋ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਅਮਰਕੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
So Dheepak Amarak Sansaar ||
सो दीपकु अमरकु संसारि ॥
That lamp makes the world immortal;
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਿਖੁ ਕਾਢੀਲੇ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
Kaam Krodhh Bikh Kaadteelae Maar ||3||
काम क्रोध बिखु काढीले मारि ॥३॥
It conquers and drives out the poisons of sexual desire and anger. ||3||
ਜਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
Jih Simaran Thaeree Gath Hoe ||
जिह सिमरनि तेरी गति होइ ॥
Remembering Him in meditation, you shall obtain salvation.
ਸੋ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਰਖੁ ਕੰਠਿ ਪਰੋਇ ॥
So Simaran Rakh Kanth Paroe ||
सो सिमरनु रखु कंठि परोइ ॥
Wear that meditative remembrance as your necklace.
ਸੋ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਰਾਖੁ ਉਤਾਰਿ ॥
So Simaran Kar Nehee Raakh Outhaar ||
सो सिमरनु करि नही राखु उतारि ॥
Practice that meditative remembrance, and never let it go.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੪॥
Gur Parasaadhee Outharehi Paar ||4||
गुर परसादी उतरहि पारि ॥४॥
By Guru's Grace, you shall cross over. ||4||
ਜਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੁਹਿ ਕਾਨਿ ॥
Jih Simaran Naahee Thuhi Kaan ||
जिह सिमरनि नाही तुहि कानि ॥
Remembering Him in meditation, you shall not be obligated to others.
ਮੰਦਰਿ ਸੋਵਹਿ ਪਟੰਬਰ ਤਾਨਿ ॥
Mandhar Sovehi Pattanbar Thaan ||
मंदरि सोवहि पट्मबर तानि ॥
You shall sleep in your mansion, in blankets of silk.
ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਜੀਉ ॥
Saej Sukhaalee Bigasai Jeeo ||
सेज सुखाली बिगसै जीउ ॥
Your soul shall blossom forth in happiness, on this comfortable bed.
ਸੋ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਤੂ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਪੀਉ ॥੫॥
So Simaran Thoo Anadhin Peeo ||5||
सो सिमरनु तू अनदिनु पीउ ॥५॥
So drink in this meditative remembrance, night and day. ||5||
ਜਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਾਇ ਬਲਾਇ ॥
Jih Simaran Thaeree Jaae Balaae ||
जिह सिमरनि तेरी जाइ बलाइ ॥
Remembering Him in meditation, your troubles will depart.
ਜਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤੁਝੁ ਪੋਹੈ ਨ ਮਾਇ ॥
Jih Simaran Thujh Pohai N Maae ||
जिह सिमरनि तुझु पोहै न माइ ॥
Remembering Him in meditation, Maya will not bother you.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
Simar Simar Har Har Man Gaaeeai ||
सिमरि सिमरि हरि हरि मनि गाईऐ ॥
Meditate, meditate in remembrance on the Lord, Har, Har, and sing His Praises in your mind.
ਇਹੁ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੬॥

इहु सिमरनु सतिगुर ते पाईऐ ॥६॥

Sadhaa Sadhaa Simar Dhin Raath ||
सदा सदा सिमरि दिनु राति ॥
Forever and ever, remember Him, day and night,
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ॥
Oothath Baithath Saas Giraas ||
ऊठत बैठत सासि गिरासि ॥
While standing up and sitting down, with every breath and morsel of food.
ਜਾਗੁ ਸੋਇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ॥
Jaag Soe Simaran Ras Bhog ||
जागु सोइ सिमरन रस भोग ॥
While awake and asleep, enjoy the essence of this meditative remembrance.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥੭॥
Har Simaran Paaeeai Sanjog ||7||
हरि सिमरनु पाईऐ संजोग ॥७॥
The Lord's meditative remembrance is obtained by good destiny. ||7||
ਜਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੁਝੁ ਭਾਰ ॥

सो सिमरनु राम नाम अधारु ॥
