O God, Your Name is the Purifier of sinners.

Thoon Dhaathaa Prabh Antharajaamee ||
तूं दाता प्रभ अंतरजामी ॥
O God, You are the Great Giver, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਕਾਚੀ ਦੇਹ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
Kaachee Dhaeh Maanukh Abhimaanee ||2||
काची देह मानुख अभिमानी ॥२॥
The body of the egotistical human is perishable. ||2||
ਸੁਆਦ ਬਾਦ ਈਰਖ ਮਦ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
Suaadh Baadh Eerakh Madh Maaeiaa ||
सुआद बाद ईरख मद माइआ ॥
Tastes and pleasures, conflicts and jealousy, and intoxication with Maya
ਇਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
Ein Sang Laag Rathan Janam Gavaaeiaa ||3||
इन संगि लागि रतन जनमु गवाइआ ॥३॥
- attached to these, the jewel of human life is wasted. ||3||
ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥
Dhukh Bhanjan Jagajeevan Har Raaeiaa ||
दुख भंजन जगजीवन हरि राइआ ॥
The Sovereign Lord King is the Destroyer of pain, the Life of the world.
ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਰਣਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੧੯॥

ਪੇਖਤ ਚਾਖਤ ਕਹੀਅਤ ਅੰਧਾ ਸੁਨੀਅਤ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Paekhath Chaakhath Keheeath Andhhaa Suneeath Suneeai Naahee ||
पेखत चाखत कहीअत अंधा सुनीअत सुनीऐ नाही ॥
He sees with his eyes, but he is called blind; he hears, but he does not hear.
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਕਉ ਜਾਣੈ ਦੂਰੇ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
Nikatt Vasath Ko Jaanai Dhoorae Paapee Paap Kamaahee ||1||
निकटि वसतु कउ जाणै दूरे पापी पाप कमाही ॥१॥
And the One who dwells near at hand, he thinks that He is far away; the sinner is committing sins. ||1||
ਸੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥
So Kishh Kar Jith Shhuttehi Paraanee ||
सो किछु करि जितु छुटहि परानी ॥
Do only those deeds which will save you, O mortal being.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

हरि हरि नामु जपि अम्रित बानी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, and the Ambrosial Word of His Bani. ||1||Pause||
ਘੋਰ ਮਹਲ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
Ghor Mehal Sadhaa Rang Raathaa ||
घोर महल सदा रंगि राता ॥
You are forever imbued with the love of horses and mansions.
ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਤਾ ॥੨॥
Sang Thumhaarai Kashhoo N Jaathaa ||2||
संगि तुम्हारै कछू न जाता ॥२॥
Nothing shall go along with you. ||2||
ਰਖਹਿ ਪੋਚਾਰਿ ਮਾਟੀ ਕਾ ਭਾਂਡਾ ॥
Rakhehi Pochaar Maattee Kaa Bhaanddaa ||
रखहि पोचारि माटी का भांडा ॥
You may clean and decorate the vessel of clay,
ਅਤਿ ਕੁਚੀਲ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਮ ਡਾਂਡਾ ॥੩॥
Ath Kucheel Milai Jam Ddaanddaa ||3||
अति कुचील मिलै जम डांडा ॥३॥
But it is so very filthy; it shall receive its punishment from the Messenger of Death. ||3||
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਲੋਭਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਾਧਾ ॥
Kaam Krodhh Lobh Mohi Baadhhaa ||
काम क्रोधि लोभि मोहि बाधा ॥
You are bound by sexual desire, anger, greed and emotional attachment.
ਮਹਾ ਗਰਤ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਘਰਤ ਜਾਤਾ ॥੪॥
Mehaa Garath Mehi Nigharath Jaathaa ||4||
महा गरत महि निघरत जाता ॥४॥
You are sinking down into the great pit. ||4||
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਸੁਣੀਜੈ ॥

नानक की अरदासि सुणीजै ॥
Hear this prayer of Nanak, O Lord;

जीवत मरै बुझै प्रभु सोइ ॥
One who remains dead while yet alive understands God.
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
This Jan Karam Paraapath Hoe ||1||
तिसु जन करमि परापति होइ ॥१॥
He meets that humble being according to the karma of his past actions. ||1||
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਇਉ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਰੀਐ ॥
Sun Saajan Eio Dhuthar Thareeai ||
सुणि साजन इउ दुतरु तरीऐ ॥
Listen, O friend - this is how to cross over the terrifying world-ocean.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Mil Saadhhoo Har Naam Ouchareeai ||1|| Rehaao ||
मिलि साधू हरि नामु उचरीऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Meet with the Holy, and chant the Lord's Name||1||Pause||
ਏਕ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
Eaek Binaa Dhoojaa Nehee Jaanai ||
एक बिना दूजा नही जानै ॥
There is no other to know, except for the One Lord.
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥੨॥
Ghatt Ghatt Anthar Paarabreham Pashhaanai ||2||
घट घट अंतरि पारब्रहमु पछानै ॥२॥
So realize that the Supreme Lord God is within each and every heart. ||2||
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਭਲ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
Jo Kishh Karai Soee Bhal Maanai ||
जो किछु करै सोई भल मानै ॥
Whatever He does, accept that as good.
ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਜਾਨੈ ॥੩॥
Aadh Anth Kee Keemath Jaanai ||3||
आदि अंत की कीमति जानै ॥३॥
Know the value of the beginning and the end. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥

The Guru is the Transcendent Lord, the Creator Lord.
ਸਗਲ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਉ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
Sagal Srisatt Ko Dhae Aadhhaar ||1||
सगल स्रिसटि कउ दे आधारु ॥१॥
He gives His Support to the entire Universe. ||1||
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਮਨ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
Gur Kae Charan Kamal Man Dhhiaae ||
गुर के चरण कमल मन धिआइ ॥
Meditate within your mind on the Lotus Feet of the Guru.
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Dhookh Dharadh Eis Than Thae Jaae ||1|| Rehaao ||
दूखु दरदु इसु तन ते जाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Pain and suffering shall leave this body. ||1||Pause||
ਭਵਜਲਿ ਡੂਬਤ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਕਾਢੈ ॥
Bhavajal Ddoobath Sathigur Kaadtai ||
भवजलि डूबत सतिगुरु काढै ॥
The True Guru saves the drowning being from the terrifying world-ocean.
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਟੂਟਾ ਗਾਢੈ ॥੨॥
Janam Janam Kaa Ttoottaa Gaadtai ||2||
जनम जनम का टूटा गाढै ॥२॥
He reunites those who were separated for countless incarnations. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
Gur Kee Saevaa Karahu Dhin Raath ||
गुर की सेवा करहु दिनु राति ॥
Serve the Guru, day and night.
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਮਨਿ ਆਵੈ ਸਾਂਤਿ ॥੩॥
Sookh Sehaj Man Aavai Saanth ||3||
सूख सहज मनि आवै सांति ॥३॥
Your mind shall come to have peace, pleasure and poise. ||3||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
Sathigur Kee Raen Vaddabhaagee Paavai ||
सतिगुर की रेणु वडभागी पावै ॥
By great good fortune, one obtains the dust of the feet of the True Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੨੨॥

आठ पहर हरि हरि जसु गाईऐ ॥१॥
Twenty-four hours a day, I sing the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||
ਸਿਮਰਉ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
Simaro So Prabh Apanaa Suaamee ||
सिमरउ सो प्रभु अपना सुआमी ॥
Meditate in remembrance on God, your Lord and Master.
ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

सगल घटा का अंतरजामी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Charan Kamal Sio Laagee Preeth ||
चरण कमल सिउ लागी प्रीति ॥
So love the Lord's Lotus Feet,
ਸਾਚੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੨॥
Saachee Pooran Niramal Reeth ||2||
साची पूरन निरमल रीति ॥२॥
And live a lifestyle which is true, perfect and spotless. ||2||
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
Santh Prasaadh Vasai Man Maahee ||
संत प्रसादि वसै मन माही ॥
By the Grace of the Saints, the Lord comes to dwell within the mind,
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਜਾਹੀ ॥੩॥
Janam Janam Kae Kilavikh Jaahee ||3||
जनम जनम के किलविख जाही ॥३॥
And the sins of countless incarnations are eradicated. ||3||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Prabh Dheen Dhaeiaalaa ||
करि किरपा प्रभ दीन दइआला ॥
Please be Merciful, O God, O Merciful to the meek.
