Prabh Paaeae Ham Avar N Bhaariaa ||7||
प्रभ पाए हम अवरु न भारिआ ॥७॥
I have found God - I am not searching for any other. ||7||
ਸਾਚ ਮਹਲਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਆ ॥
Saach Mehal Gur Alakh Lakhaaeiaa ||
साच महलि गुरि अलखु लखाइआ ॥
The Guru has shown me the unseen Mansion of the True Lord.
ਨਿਹਚਲ ਮਹਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਛਾਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
Nihachal Mehal Nehee Shhaaeiaa Maaeiaa ||
निहचल महलु नही छाइआ माइआ ॥
His Mansion is eternal and unchanging; it is not a mere reflection of Maya.
ਸਾਚਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੮॥
Saach Santhokhae Bharam Chukaaeiaa ||8||
साचि संतोखे भरमु चुकाइआ ॥८॥
Through truth and contentment, doubt is dispelled. ||8||
ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
Jin Kai Man Vasiaa Sach Soee ||
जिन कै मनि वसिआ सचु सोई ॥
That person, within whose mind the True Lord dwells
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
Thin Kee Sangath Guramukh Hoee ||
तिन की संगति गुरमुखि होई ॥
In his company, one becomes Gurmukh.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਲੁ ਖੋਈ ॥੯॥੧੫॥

नानक साचि नामि मलु खोई ॥९॥१५॥
O Nanak, the True Name washes off the pollution. ||9||15||

रामि नामि चितु रापै जा का ॥
One whose consciousness is permeated with the Lord's Name
ਉਪਜੰਪਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ॥੧॥
Oupajanp Dharasan Keejai Thaa Kaa ||1||
उपज्मपि दरसनु कीजै ता का ॥१॥
- receive the blessing of his darshan in the early light of dawn. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਨ ਜਪਹੁ ਅਭਾਗੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ॥
Raam N Japahu Abhaag Thumaaraa ||
राम न जपहु अभागु तुमारा ॥
If you do not meditate on the Lord, it is your own misfortune.
ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जुगि जुगि दाता प्रभु रामु हमारा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
In each and every age, the Great Giver is my Lord God. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਜਨੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥

गुरमति रामु जपै जनु पूरा ॥
Following the Guru's Teachings, the perfect humble beings meditate on the Lord.
ਤਿਤੁ ਘਟ ਅਨਹਤ ਬਾਜੇ ਤੂਰਾ ॥੨॥
Thith Ghatt Anehath Baajae Thooraa ||2||
तितु घट अनहत बाजे तूरा ॥२॥
Within their hearts, the unstruck melody vibrates. ||2||
ਜੋ ਜਨ ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
Jo Jan Raam Bhagath Har Piaar ||
जो जन राम भगति हरि पिआरि ॥
Those who worship the Lord and love the Lord
ਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
Sae Prabh Raakhae Kirapaa Dhhaar ||3||
से प्रभि राखे किरपा धारि ॥३॥
- showering His Mercy, God protects them. ||3||
ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਈ ॥
Jin Kai Hiradhai Har Har Soee ||
जिन कै हिरदै हरि हरि सोई ॥
Those whose hearts are filled with the Lord, Har, Har
ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਪਰਸਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥
Thin Kaa Dharas Paras Sukh Hoee ||4||
तिन का दरसु परसि सुखु होई ॥४॥
- gazing upon the blessed vision of their darshan, peace is obtained. ||4||
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੋ ਰਵੈ ॥
Sarab Jeeaa Mehi Eaeko Ravai ||
सरब जीआ महि एको रवै ॥
Among all beings, the One Lord is pervading.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਨੀ ਭਵੈ ॥੫॥
Manamukh Ahankaaree Fir Joonee Bhavai ||5||
मनमुखि अहंकारी फिरि जूनी भवै ॥५॥
The eogtistical, self-willed manmukhs wander in reincarnation. ||5||
ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
So Boojhai Jo Sathigur Paaeae ||
सो बूझै जो सतिगुरु पाए ॥
They alone understand, who have found the True Guru.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੇ ਪਾਏ ॥੬॥
Houmai Maarae Gur Sabadhae Paaeae ||6||
हउमै मारे गुर सबदे पाए ॥६॥
Subduing their ego, they receive the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||6||
ਅਰਧ ਉਰਧ ਕੀ ਸੰਧਿ ਕਿਉ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
Aradhh Ouradhh Kee Sandhh Kio Jaanai ||
अरध उरध की संधि किउ जानै ॥
How can anyone know of the Union between the being below and the Supreme Being above?
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੰਧਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ ॥੭॥
Guramukh Sandhh Milai Man Maanai ||7||
गुरमुखि संधि मिलै मनु मानै ॥७॥
The Gurmukhs obtain this Union; their minds are reconciliated. ||7||
ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਕਉ ਗੁਣੁ ਕਰੀਐ ॥
Ham Paapee Niragun Ko Gun Kareeai ||
हम पापी निरगुण कउ गुणु करीऐ ॥
I am a worthless sinner, without merit. What merit do I have?
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਤਰੀਐ ॥੮॥੧੬॥

जिउ गाई कउ गोइली राखहि करि सारा ॥
As the dairy farmer watches over and protects his cows, so does the Lord cherish and protect us, night and day. He blesses the soul with peace. ||1||
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਪਾਲਹਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਆਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥

अहिनिसि पालहि राखि लेहि आतम सुखु धारा ॥१॥
Please protect me here and hereafter, O Lord, Merciful to the meek.
ਇਤ ਉਤ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
Eith Outh Raakhahu Dheen Dhaeiaalaa ||
इत उत राखहु दीन दइआला ॥
I seek Your Sanctuary; please bless me with Your Glance of Grace. ||1||Pause||
ਤਉ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

तउ सरणागति नदरि निहाला ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Wherever I look, there You are. Save me, O Savior Lord!
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਹ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੇ ਰਖੁ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
Jeh Dhaekho Theh Rav Rehae Rakh Raakhanehaaraa ||
जह देखउ तह रवि रहे रखु राखनहारा ॥
You are the Giver, and You are the Enjoyer;
ਤੂੰ ਦਾਤਾ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
Thoon Dhaathaa Bhugathaa Thoonhai Thoon Praan Adhhaaraa ||2||
तूं दाता भुगता तूंहै तूं प्राण अधारा ॥२॥
You are the Support of the breath of life. ||2||
ਕਿਰਤੁ ਪਇਆ ਅਧ ਊਰਧੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਿਆਨ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
Kirath Paeiaa Adhh Ooradhhee Bin Giaan Beechaaraa ||
किरतु पइआ अध ऊरधी बिनु गिआन बीचारा ॥
According to the karma of past actions, people descend to the depths or rise to the heights, unless they contemplate spiritual wisdom.
ਬਿਨੁ ਉਪਮਾ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਕੀ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਨ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ॥੩॥
Bin Oupamaa Jagadhees Kee Binasai N Andhhiaaraa ||3||
बिनु उपमा जगदीस की बिनसै न अंधिआरा ॥३॥
Without the Praises of the Lord of the Universe, the darkness is not dispelled. ||3||
ਜਗੁ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਹਮ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਲੋਭੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
Jag Binasath Ham Dhaekhiaa Lobhae Ahankaaraa ||
जगु बिनसत हम देखिआ लोभे अहंकारा ॥
I have seen the world being destroyed by greed and egotism.
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਚੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥੪॥
Gur Saevaa Prabh Paaeiaa Sach Mukath Dhuaaraa ||4||
गुर सेवा प्रभु पाइआ सचु मुकति दुआरा ॥४॥
Only by serving the Guru is God obtained, and the true gate of liberation found. ||4||
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਅਪਾਰ ਕੋ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
Nij Ghar Mehal Apaar Ko Aparanpar Soee ||
निज घरि महलु अपार को अपर्मपरु सोई ॥
The Mansion of the Infinite Lord's Presence is within the home of one's own being. He is beyond any boundaries.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਥਿਰੁ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥੫॥
Bin Sabadhai Thhir Ko Nehee Boojhai Sukh Hoee ||5||
बिनु सबदै थिरु को नही बूझै सुखु होई ॥५॥
Without the Word of the Shabad, nothing shall endure. Through understanding, peace is obtained. ||5||
ਕਿਆ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ ਲੇ ਜਾਇ ਕਿਆ ਫਾਸਹਿ ਜਮ ਜਾਲਾ ॥
Kiaa Lai Aaeiaa Lae Jaae Kiaa Faasehi Jam Jaalaa ||
किआ लै आइआ ले जाइ किआ फासहि जम जाला ॥
What have you brought, and what will you take away, when you are caught by the noose of Death?
ਡੋਲੁ ਬਧਾ ਕਸਿ ਜੇਵਰੀ ਆਕਾਸਿ ਪਤਾਲਾ ॥੬॥
Ddol Badhhaa Kas Jaevaree Aakaas Pathaalaa ||6||
डोलु बधा कसि जेवरी आकासि पताला ॥६॥
Like the bucket tied to the rope in the well, you are pulled up to the Akaashic Ethers, and then lowered down to the nether regions of the underworld. ||6||
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
Guramath Naam N Veesarai Sehajae Path Paaeeai ||
गुरमति नामु न वीसरै सहजे पति पाईऐ ॥
Follow the Guru's Teachings, and do not forget the Naam, the Name of the Lord; you shall automatically obtain honor.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥੭॥
Anthar Sabadh Nidhhaan Hai Mil Aap Gavaaeeai ||7||
अंतरि सबदु निधानु है मिलि आपु गवाईऐ ॥७॥
Deep within the self is the treasure of the Shabad; it is obtained only by eradicating selfishness and conceit. ||7||
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਗੁਣ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
Nadhar Karae Prabh Aapanee Gun Ank Samaavai ||
नदरि करे प्रभु आपणी गुण अंकि समावै ॥
When God bestows His Glance of Grace, people settle in the Lap of the Virtuous Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲੁ ਨ ਚੂਕਈ ਲਾਹਾ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੮॥੧॥੧੭॥
Naanak Mael N Chookee Laahaa Sach Paavai ||8||1||17||
नानक मेलु न चूकई लाहा सचु पावै ॥८॥१॥१७॥
O Nanak, this Union cannot be broken; the true profit is obtained. ||8||1||17||
