करन करावन सभु किछु एकै ॥
The One Lord is the Creator of all things, the Cause of causes.
ਆਪੇ ਬੁਧਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ਬਿਬੇਕੈ ॥
Aapae Budhh Beechaar Bibaekai ||
आपे बुधि बीचारि बिबेकै ॥
He Himself is wisdom, contemplation and discerning understanding.
ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਨੇਰੈ ਸਭ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
Dhoor N Naerai Sabh Kai Sangaa ||
दूरि न नेरै सभ कै संगा ॥
He is not far away; He is near at hand, with all.
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਾ ॥੮॥੧॥
Sach Saalaahan Naanak Har Rangaa ||8||1||
सचु सालाहणु नानक हरि रंगा ॥८॥१॥

गुर सेवा ते नामे लागा ॥
Serving the Guru, one is committed to the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗਾ ॥
This Ko Miliaa Jis Masathak Bhaagaa ||
तिस कउ मिलिआ जिसु मसतकि भागा ॥
It is received only by those who have such good destiny inscribed upon their foreheads.
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥
This Kai Hiradhai Raviaa Soe ||
तिस कै हिरदै रविआ सोइ ॥
The Lord dwells within their hearts.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
Man Than Seethal Nihachal Hoe ||1||
मनु तनु सीतलु निहचलु होइ ॥१॥
Their minds and bodies become peaceful and stable. ||1||
ਐਸਾ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
Aisaa Keerathan Kar Man Maerae ||
ऐसा कीरतनु करि मन मेरे ॥
O my mind, sing such Praises of the Lord,
ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਜੋ ਕਾਮਿ ਤੇਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Eehaa Oohaa Jo Kaam Thaerai ||1|| Rehaao ||
ईहा ऊहा जो कामि तेरै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Which shall be of use to you here and hereafter. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਭਉ ਅਪਦਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
Jaas Japath Bho Apadhaa Jaae ||
जासु जपत भउ अपदा जाइ ॥
Meditating on Him, fear and misfortune depart,
ਧਾਵਤ ਮਨੂਆ ਆਵੈ ਠਾਇ ॥
Dhhaavath Manooaa Aavai Thaae ||
धावत मनूआ आवै ठाइ ॥
And the wandering mind is held steady.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
Jaas Japath Fir Dhookh N Laagai ||
जासु जपत फिरि दूखु न लागै ॥
Meditating on Him, suffering shall never again overtake you.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਇਹ ਹਉਮੈ ਭਾਗੈ ॥੨॥
Jaas Japath Eih Houmai Bhaagai ||2||
जासु जपत इह हउमै भागै ॥२॥
Meditating on Him, this ego runs away. ||2||
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਵਸਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਪੰਚਾ ॥
Jaas Japath Vas Aavehi Panchaa ||
जासु जपत वसि आवहि पंचा ॥
Meditating on Him, the five passions are overcome.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਰਿਦੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੰਚਾ ॥
Jaas Japath Ridhai Anmrith Sanchaa ||
जासु जपत रिदै अम्रितु संचा ॥
Meditating on Him, Ambrosial Nectar is collected in the heart.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਇਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝੈ ॥
Jaas Japath Eih Thrisanaa Bujhai ||
जासु जपत इह त्रिसना बुझै ॥
Meditating on Him, this desire is quenched.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸਿਝੈ ॥੩॥
Jaas Japath Har Dharageh Sijhai ||3||
जासु जपत हरि दरगह सिझै ॥३॥
Meditating on Him, one is approved in the Court of the Lord. ||3||
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਕੋਟਿ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਅਪਰਾਧ ॥
Jaas Japath Kott Mittehi Aparaadhh ||
जासु जपत कोटि मिटहि अपराध ॥
Meditating on Him, millions of mistakes are erased.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਸਾਧ ॥
Jaas Japath Har Hovehi Saadhh ||
जासु जपत हरि होवहि साध ॥
Meditating on Him, one becomes Holy, blessed by the Lord.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
Jaas Japath Man Seethal Hovai ||
जासु जपत मनु सीतलु होवै ॥
Meditating on Him, the mind is cooled and soothed.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਲੁ ਸਗਲੀ ਖੋਵੈ ॥੪॥
Jaas Japath Mal Sagalee Khovai ||4||
जासु जपत मलु सगली खोवै ॥४॥
Meditating on Him, all filth is washed away. ||4||
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ॥
Jaas Japath Rathan Har Milai ||
जासु जपत रतनु हरि मिलै ॥
Meditating on Him, the jewel of the Lord is obtained.
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਛੋਡੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਿਲੈ ॥
Bahur N Shhoddai Har Sang Hilai ||
बहुरि न छोडै हरि संगि हिलै ॥
One is reconciled with the Lord, and shall not abandon Him again.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਕਈ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਵਾਸੁ ॥
Jaas Japath Kee Baikunth Vaas ||
जासु जपत कई बैकुंठ वासु ॥
Meditating on Him, many acquire a home in the heavens.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੫॥
Jaas Japath Sukh Sehaj Nivaas ||5||
जासु जपत सुख सहजि निवासु ॥५॥
Meditating on Him, one abides in intuitive peace. ||5||
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਇਹ ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਪੋਹਤ ॥
Jaas Japath Eih Agan N Pohath ||
जासु जपत इह अगनि न पोहत ॥
Meditating on Him, one is not affected by this fire.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਇਹੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਜੋਹਤ ॥
Jaas Japath Eihu Kaal N Johath ||
जासु जपत इहु कालु न जोहत ॥
Meditating on Him, one is not under the gaze of Death.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮਾਥਾ ॥
Jaas Japath Thaeraa Niramal Maathhaa ||
जासु जपत तेरा निरमल माथा ॥
Meditating on Him, your forehead shall be immaculate.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਸਗਲਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਥਾ ॥੬॥
Jaas Japath Sagalaa Dhukh Laathhaa ||6||
जासु जपत सगला दुखु लाथा ॥६॥
Meditating on Him, all pains are destroyed. ||6||
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਮੁਸਕਲੁ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਬਨੈ ॥
Jaas Japath Musakal Kashhoo N Banai ||
जासु जपत मुसकलु कछू न बनै ॥
Meditating on Him, no difficulties are encountered.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਸੁਣਿ ਅਨਹਤ ਧੁਨੈ ॥
Jaas Japath Sun Anehath Dhhunai ||
जासु जपत सुणि अनहत धुनै ॥
Meditating on Him, one hears the unstruck melody.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਇਹ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਇ ॥
Jaas Japath Eih Niramal Soe ||
जासु जपत इह निरमल सोइ ॥
Meditating on Him, one acquires this pure reputation.
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਕਮਲੁ ਸੀਧਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੭॥
Jaas Japath Kamal Seedhhaa Hoe ||7||
जासु जपत कमलु सीधा होइ ॥७॥
Meditating on Him, the heart-lotus is turned upright. ||7||
ਗੁਰਿ ਸੁਭ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਰੀ ॥
Gur Subh Dhrisatt Sabh Oopar Karee ||
गुरि सुभ द्रिसटि सभ ऊपरि करी ॥
The Guru has bestowed His Glance of Grace upon all,
ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦੇ ਹਰੀ ॥
Jis Kai Hiradhai Manthra Dhae Haree ||
जिस कै हिरदै मंत्रु दे हरी ॥
Within whose hearts the Lord has implanted His Mantra.
ਅਖੰਡ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਤਿਨਿ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਚੂਰਾ ॥
Akhandd Keerathan Thin Bhojan Chooraa ||
अखंड कीरतनु तिनि भोजनु चूरा ॥
The unbroken Kirtan of the Lord's Praises is their food and nourishment.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥੮॥੨॥

कहु नानक जिसु सतिगुरु पूरा ॥८॥२॥
Says Nanak, they have the Perfect True Guru. ||8||2||

Those who implant the Word of the Guru's Shabad within their hearts
ਪੰਚ ਜਨਾ ਸਿਉ ਸੰਗੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ॥
Panch Janaa Sio Sang Nivaarai ||
पंच जना सिउ संगु निवारै ॥
Cut their connections with the five passions.
ਦਸ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਵਾਸਿ ॥
Dhas Eindhree Kar Raakhai Vaas ||
दस इंद्री करि राखै वासि ॥
They keep the ten organs under their control;
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਆਤਮੈ ਹੋਇ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
Thaa Kai Aathamai Hoe Paragaas ||1||
ता कै आतमै होइ परगासु ॥१॥
Their souls are enlightened. ||1||
ਐਸੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਹੋਇ ॥
Aisee Dhrirrathaa Thaa Kai Hoe ||
ऐसी द्रिड़ता ता कै होइ ॥
They alone acquire such stability,
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jaa Ko Dhaeiaa Maeiaa Prabh Soe ||1|| Rehaao ||
जा कउ दइआ मइआ प्रभ सोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Whom God blesses with His Mercy and Grace. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਜਨੁ ਦੁਸਟੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਏਕ ਸਮਾਨੈ ॥
Saajan Dhusatt Jaa Kai Eaek Samaanai ||
साजनु दुसटु जा कै एक समानै ॥
Friend and foe are one and the same to them.
ਜੇਤਾ ਬੋਲਣੁ ਤੇਤਾ ਗਿਆਨੈ ॥
Jaethaa Bolan Thaethaa Giaanai ||
जेता बोलणु तेता गिआनै ॥
Whatever they speak is wisdom.
ਜੇਤਾ ਸੁਨਣਾ ਤੇਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
Jaethaa Sunanaa Thaethaa Naam ||
जेता सुनणा तेता नामु ॥
Whatever they hear is the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਜੇਤਾ ਪੇਖਨੁ ਤੇਤਾ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥੨॥
Jaethaa Paekhan Thaethaa Dhhiaan ||2||
जेता पेखनु तेता धिआनु ॥२॥
Whatever they see is meditation. ||2||
ਸਹਜੇ ਜਾਗਣੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੋਇ ॥
Sehajae Jaagan Sehajae Soe ||
सहजे जागणु सहजे सोइ ॥
They awaken in peace and poise; they sleep in peace and poise.
ਸਹਜੇ ਹੋਤਾ ਜਾਇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sehajae Hothaa Jaae S Hoe ||
सहजे होता जाइ सु होइ ॥
That which is meant to be, automatically happens.
ਸਹਜਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਹਸਨਾ ॥
Sehaj Bairaag Sehajae Hee Hasanaa ||
सहजि बैरागु सहजे ही हसना ॥
In peace and poise, they remain detached; in peace and poise, they laugh.
ਸਹਜੇ ਚੂਪ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਜਪਨਾ ॥੩॥
Sehajae Choop Sehajae Hee Japanaa ||3||
सहजे चूप सहजे ही जपना ॥३॥
In peace and poise, they remain silent; in peace and poise, they chant. ||3||
ਸਹਜੇ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਭਾਉ ॥
Sehajae Bhojan Sehajae Bhaao ||
सहजे भोजनु सहजे भाउ ॥
In peace and poise they eat; in peace and poise they love.
ਸਹਜੇ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਦੁਰਾਉ ॥
Sehajae Mittiou Sagal Dhuraao ||
सहजे मिटिओ सगल दुराउ ॥
The illusion of duality is easily and totally removed.
ਸਹਜੇ ਹੋਆ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
Sehajae Hoaa Saadhhoo Sang ||
सहजे होआ साधू संगु ॥
They naturally join the Saadh Sangat, the Society of the Holy.
ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਿਸੰਗੁ ॥੪॥
Sehaj Miliou Paarabreham Nisang ||4||
सहजि मिलिओ पारब्रहमु निसंगु ॥४॥
In peace and poise, they meet and merge with the Supreme Lord God. ||4||
ਸਹਜੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਉਦਾਸੀ ॥
Sehajae Grih Mehi Sehaj Oudhaasee ||
सहजे ग्रिह महि सहजि उदासी ॥
They are at peace in their homes, and they are at peace while detached.
