ਧੋਤੀ ਖੋਲਿ ਵਿਛਾਏ ਹੇਠਿ ॥
Dhhothee Khol Vishhaaeae Haeth ||
धोती खोलि विछाए हेठि ॥
He opens his loin-cloth, and spreads it out beneath him.
ਗਰਧਪ ਵਾਂਗੂ ਲਾਹੇ ਪੇਟਿ ॥੧॥
Garadhhap Vaangoo Laahae Paett ||1||
गरधप वांगू लाहे पेटि ॥१॥
Like a donkey, he gulps down all that comes his way. ||1||
ਬਿਨੁ ਕਰਤੂਤੀ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
Bin Karathoothee Mukath N Paaeeai ||
बिनु करतूती मुकति न पाईऐ ॥
Without good deeds, liberation is not obtained.
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मुकति पदारथु नामु धिआईऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The wealth of liberation is only obtained by meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਪੂਜਾ ਤਿਲਕ ਕਰਤ ਇਸਨਾਨਾਂ ॥
Poojaa Thilak Karath Eisanaanaan ||
पूजा तिलक करत इसनानां ॥
He performs worship ceremonies, applies the ceremonial tilak mark to his forehead, and takes his ritual cleansing baths;
ਛੁਰੀ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੇਵੈ ਹਥਿ ਦਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
Shhuree Kaadt Laevai Hathh Dhaanaa ||2||
छुरी काढि लेवै हथि दाना ॥२॥
He pulls out his knife, and demands donations. ||2||
ਬੇਦੁ ਪੜੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਮੀਠੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
Baedh Parrai Mukh Meethee Baanee ||
बेदु पड़ै मुखि मीठी बाणी ॥
With his mouth, he recites the Vedas in sweet musical measures,
ਜੀਆਂ ਕੁਹਤ ਨ ਸੰਗੈ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥੩॥
Jeeaaan Kuhath N Sangai Paraanee ||3||
जीआं कुहत न संगै पराणी ॥३॥
And yet he does not hesitate to take the lives of others. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੈ ॥
Kahu Naanak Jis Kirapaa Dhhaarai ||
कहु नानक जिसु किरपा धारै ॥
Says Nanak, when God showers His Mercy,
ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸੁਧੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥੪॥੧੦੭॥

हिरदा सुधु ब्रहमु बीचारै ॥४॥१०७॥
Even his heart becomes pure, and he contemplates God. ||4||107||

थिरु घरि बैसहु हरि जन पिआरे ॥
Remain steady in the home of your own self, O beloved servant of the Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

सतिगुरि तुमरे काज सवारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The True Guru shall resolve all your affairs. ||1||Pause||

Dhusatt Dhooth Paramaesar Maarae ||
दुसट दूत परमेसरि मारे ॥
The Transcendent Lord has struck down the wicked and the evil.
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੀ ਕਰਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
Jan Kee Paij Rakhee Karathaarae ||1||
जन की पैज रखी करतारे ॥१॥
The Creator has preserved the honor of His servant. ||1||
ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹ ਸਾਹ ਸਭ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੇ ॥
Baadhisaah Saah Sabh Vas Kar Dheenae ||
बादिसाह साह सभ वसि करि दीने ॥
The kings and emperors are all under his power;
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮ ਮਹਾ ਰਸ ਪੀਨੇ ॥੨॥
Anmrith Naam Mehaa Ras Peenae ||2||
अम्रित नाम महा रस पीने ॥२॥
He drinks deeply of the most sublime essence of the Ambrosial Naam. ||2||
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋਇ ਭਜਹੁ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥
Nirabho Hoe Bhajahu Bhagavaan ||
निरभउ होइ भजहु भगवान ॥
Meditate fearlessly on the Lord God.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
Saadhhasangath Mil Keeno Dhaan ||3||
साधसंगति मिलि कीनो दानु ॥३॥
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, this gift is given. ||3||
ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥

सरणि परे प्रभ अंतरजामी ॥
Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of God, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts;
ਨਾਨਕ ਓਟ ਪਕਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੪॥੧੦੮॥

One who is attuned to the Lord, shall not be burned in the fire.
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਹੀ ਛਲੈ ॥
Har Sang Raathae Maaeiaa Nehee Shhalai ||
हरि संगि राते माइआ नही छलै ॥
One who is attuned to the Lord, shall not be enticed by Maya.
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਡੂਬੈ ਜਲਾ ॥
Har Sang Raathae Nehee Ddoobai Jalaa ||
हरि संगि राते नही डूबै जला ॥
One who is attuned to the Lord, shall not be drowned in water.
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸੁਫਲ ਫਲਾ ॥੧॥
Har Sang Raathae Sufal Falaa ||1||
हरि संगि राते सुफल फला ॥१॥
One who is attuned to the Lord, is prosperous and fruitful. ||1||
ਸਭ ਭੈ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੈ ਨਾਇ ॥
Sabh Bhai Mittehi Thumaarai Naae ||
सभ भै मिटहि तुमारै नाइ ॥
All fear is eradicated by Your Name.
ਭੇਟਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bhaettath Sang Har Har Gun Gaae || Rehaao ||
भेटत संगि हरि हरि गुन गाइ ॥ रहाउ ॥
Joining the Sangat, the Holy Congregation, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਮਿਟੈ ਸਭ ਚਿੰਤਾ ॥
Har Sang Raathae Mittai Sabh Chinthaa ||
हरि संगि राते मिटै सभ चिंता ॥
One who is attuned to the Lord, is free of all anxieties.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਸੋ ਰਚੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਾਧ ਕਾ ਮੰਤਾ ॥
Har Sio So Rachai Jis Saadhh Kaa Manthaa ||
हरि सिउ सो रचै जिसु साध का मंता ॥
One who is attuned to the Lord, is blessed with the Mantra of the Holy.
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਨਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
Har Sang Raathae Jam Kee Nehee Thraas ||
हरि संगि राते जम की नही त्रास ॥
One who is attuned to the Lord, is not haunted by the fear of death.
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸ ॥੨॥

हरि संगि राते पूरन आस ॥२॥
One who is attuned to the Lord, sees all his hopes fulfilled. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
Har Sang Raathae Dhookh N Laagai ||
हरि संगि राते दूखु न लागै ॥
One who is attuned to the Lord, does not suffer in pain.
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗੈ ॥
Har Sang Raathaa Anadhin Jaagai ||
हरि संगि राता अनदिनु जागै ॥
One who is attuned to the Lord, remains awake and aware, night and day.
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਹਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਸੈ ॥
Har Sang Raathaa Sehaj Ghar Vasai ||
हरि संगि राता सहज घरि वसै ॥
One who is attuned to the Lord, dwells in the home of intuitive peace.
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਨਸੈ ॥੩॥
Har Sang Raathae Bhram Bho Nasai ||3||
हरि संगि राते भ्रमु भउ नसै ॥३॥
One who is attuned to the Lord, sees his doubts and fears run away. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਹੋਇ ॥
Har Sang Raathae Math Ootham Hoe ||
हरि संगि राते मति ऊतम होइ ॥
One who is attuned to the Lord, has the most sublime and exalted intellect.
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਇ ॥
Har Sang Raathae Niramal Soe ||
हरि संगि राते निरमल सोइ ॥
One who is attuned to the Lord, has a pure and spotless reputation.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
Kahu Naanak Thin Ko Bal Jaaee ||
कहु नानक तिन कउ बलि जाई ॥
Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੪॥੧੦੯॥
Jin Ko Prabh Maeraa Bisarath Naahee ||4||109||
जिन कउ प्रभु मेरा बिसरत नाही ॥४॥१०९॥
Who do not forget my God. ||4||109||

Through sincere efforts, the mind is made peaceful and calm.
ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਲਤ ਸਗਲ ਦੁਖ ਗਏ ॥
Maarag Chalath Sagal Dhukh Geae ||
मारगि चलत सगल दुख गए ॥
Twenty-four hours a day, O my mind, chant and meditate on the Lord. ||2||
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨਿ ਭਏ ਅਨੰਦ ॥
Naam Japath Man Bheae Anandh ||
नामु जपत मनि भए अनंद ॥
Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mind becomes blissful.
ਰਸਿ ਗਾਏ ਗੁਨ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ॥੧॥
Ras Gaaeae Gun Paramaanandh ||1||
रसि गाए गुन परमानंद ॥१॥
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, supreme bliss is obtained. ||1||
ਖੇਮ ਭਇਆ ਕੁਸਲ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ॥
Khaem Bhaeiaa Kusal Ghar Aaeae ||
खेम भइआ कुसल घरि आए ॥
There is joy all around, and peace has come to my home.
ਭੇਟਤ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਗਈ ਬਲਾਏ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bhaettath Saadhhasang Gee Balaaeae || Rehaao ||
भेटत साधसंगि गई बलाए ॥ रहाउ ॥
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, misfortune disappears. ||Pause||
ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਪੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਦਰਸ ॥
Naethr Puneeth Paekhath Hee Dharas ||
नेत्र पुनीत पेखत ही दरस ॥
My eyes are purified, beholding the Blessed Vision of His Darshan.
ਧਨਿ ਮਸਤਕ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਹੀ ਪਰਸ ॥
Dhhan Masathak Charan Kamal Hee Paras ||
धनि मसतक चरन कमल ही परस ॥
Blessed is the forehead which touches His Lotus Feet.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਸਫਲ ਇਹ ਕਾਂਇਆ ॥
Gobindh Kee Ttehal Safal Eih Kaaneiaa ||
गोबिंद की टहल सफल इह कांइआ ॥
